Ethan No girl is off-limits to me. Except, I never thought I would start having these thoughts about my sister’s best friend. Now, I don’t know if I can or want to stop.
Sam There is something about a man who doesn’t let his popularity go to his head, and that’s what made Ethan Strong my first real crush. My only real crush, I think... Of course, there’s also his sexy grin, his strong hands that rescued and protected me that one time, and that deep laugh that makes me melt. Ever since I could have those feelings, the only thing I wanted was to feel his hard body press me against a wall.
I’d be lying if I said that feeling ever went away. I never took a chance all those years ago, and I’ve regretted it ever since. I never told him how I really felt. They say that you can’t gain anything if you don’t take the risk. Am I willing to take that risk now?
WARNING: RISKING IT: Her Best Friend's Brother Romance, is a steamy romantic story with language and scenes that are for mature readers. Happy endings are always a must and we hate cliffhangers as much as you do. If you are ready for a hot romance, then this story is for you.
Risking It by Scarlet Wilder was the first book in the Getting It Collection. It was also my first book by the author.
Risking It was a best friends brother romance. It was told in several parts starting with Samantha (Sam) home for the summer after her first two years in college. Ethan was hoping to get into the NFL after one more year of college and both were home and running into each other frequently. This part of the storyline was pretty predictable and written from an immature and realistic perspective. Although not my favorite type of dialogue, it was age appropriate.
Wilder then took us through different phases - no spoilers so no elaboration but I was surprised at how Wilder developed the storyline. Additionally, I liked the characters but wanted more depth and feeling. In the end, it was a quick and fast paced read.
This book was given quite a few 5 stars ratings and I have to wonder why!
I don‘t even know why I bothered to finish this. The writing is immature and just so inconsistent. I was wondering a few times where the story was set. The main characters were there and not more. Except for the heroine being a resentful b**h they have zero personality.
It also bothered me A LOT that the author doesn‘t seem to know a thing about football. If you spend so much writing a book, why not invest a little more time to do some research? A google search is seriously not that hard!
A story that is absolutely not what I expected. It is better. It is well written and the characters likeable and well described. The storyline and plot are nice. The story is steamy, filled with pain, friend issues, passion, hot chemistry, attraction and emotional ups and downs. Unexpected twists.
I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. Enjoyable read. A fantastic romance and love story with heart and hotness. Two characters that do not have an easy start at becoming lovers but they risk it and fight for it.
What a beautiful romance that will grab your heart. Ethan's always been a player and no woman was off limits, but he never thought he'd have feeling for his little sister's best friend, Sam. Seems Sam's always had a crush on him. Two people who are attracted to each other and their chemistry is off the charts. Taboo to some, but anything worth having is worth taking the chance to get it. Heartwarming and overflowing with passion and explosive chemistry. Well written with likeable characters and an entertaining storyline. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
ONE TOUCHDOWN AND A TOTAL WIN!!! Straight from the start, this was already rolling around in my mind up there like a bb. No, I haven't lost it. On second thought, I might need to rethink that. I loved this read. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you what you've already read on the blurb or what the other reviewers have said. No, I don't know what was said. I'm just being typically me. I can tell you how great it was. I could tell you the characters and scenes were off the charts realistic. You've probably already heard all of that. So let me tell you my version. This is one of the craziest reads I've read in like, never! Yep, I said never. Scarlet had one of the guides for making a fantastic romance story and tossed that thing out the window. Oops. She forgot to open it. She tells us how it's done right down to the getting busted. Yep! Busted. She has this all figured out and let the truth unfold. One of the main characters was totally nuts for this guy, the other main character. And yeah he had it bad for her. But at that moment he was a coward. No lie. Chopped those balls right off. This read made me laugh, cry, scream and want to punch someone in the nose. Seriously, there's not a thing in this world that I could say that would make you understand how different this tale is from the rest. The storyline was original and sweet with a little bittersweet moments. But the bottom line is this is not like the rest. Don't take my word for it. Grab you a copy, get into nice comfy pj's and maybe a glass or two of wine. Sit back and see just how awesome this read is. Then shoot me a message and tell me "I told you so". Scarlet totally nail this read. Excellant job Scarlet.
Ethan saved Sam from drowning when she was 13 years old. She's been in love with him every since. Ethan has always been protective of Sam and his sister Helen. When Sam was 20 she gave her virginity to Ethan then refused to answer his texts or talk to him. Neither of them have been able to put that night out of their minds. 4 years later Ethan comes home and he and Sam rekindle their affair. Sam still refuses talk to Ethan about their relationship or feelings. Finally, after Helen catches Sam and Ethan making love in his hot tub Sam tells Ethan she has been in love with him since she was 13 years old and he tells her he loves her. At the end they get married. The book was well written and I love a good romance. The only thing I didn't like was how Sam says she didn't like to drink but always got drunk with Helen, how she always hid how she really felt from Helen. How could Helen be her BFF when she was not honest with her?

Sam lay on her bed reading, when a peanut landed in her hair! Helen had tossed it from the doorway to get her attention. They had always been close friends all through school. In high school, their personalities became very different, but they supported each other’s interests regardless and maintained the friendship. Sam and Helen were heading out that evening while her brother, Ethan, had friends over to watch football. When one of the friends had to go to the bathroom but didn’t return, Ethan looked for him. He went upstairs where the girls were and found him harassing Sam. His protective instincts went crazy and it was all he could do to get Carter a cab and get him out of there.
Sam and Ethan cared about each other for a long time. But falling for his little sister’s best friend was not right, was it? How do you fight the chemistry that calls for more? And how will you deal with your own plans and dreams if it means leaving the one you cared about?
This book had a good story line and well developed characters. It was helpful for the reader to know how their relationship was right from the start when Ethan saved her from drowning as a kid. She was another sister to him – but time changes things and they had a new reality to deal with and many critical, life-changing decisions. Will they get a HEA, or has that opportunity passed?
What happens when you finally act on the feelings you’ve had for your best friend’s brother for nearly a decade? What happens when you make love with your sister’s best friend the night you announce that you’ve achieved your professional objective? If you’re Sam and Ethan you spend 4 years apart thinking on your feelings for each other. When events bring you together again, at the conclusion of that 4 year separation, you come to realize what those feelings are and you determine if they are worth “Risking It”.
While this is a story I really enjoyed, I offer this word of caution for potential readers. There are NFL references in this story. If you are, as I am, a NFL fan, there are some things you know are not factual. For me, this was a distraction. So while I wholeheartedly recommend reading this book, I just want to give my fellow fans a little heads up.

I wasn't so sure about whether I liked the book or not at the beginning but I thought it became better over the course of the story. I'm a sucker for HEAs so I really felt with the characters. However, as it happens often in romance novels that cause heartbreak at some point, I don't understand why the characters don't just talk to each other or at least hint at their real feelings instead of just suffering. (*Spoiler*) I also don't understand why Sam doesn't reply to Ethan's texts in the beginning, hence the heartbreak. Overall a nice story to read and I even had to get some tissues out a time or two because of how I felt with the characters.

Beautifully well written and throughly enjoyable quick read. I loved the story of Sam and Ethan. I truly enjoyed how the relationship builds from teenage years until adulthood. You see how their relationship develops and builds through the years. I love how Sam overcomes her insecurities to come into her own and find her place. She always had her goals and she sticks to the goals no matter obstacles in they way just as she keeps her love of Ethan for years and it never diminishes. Ethan realizes Sam is no longer the little girl that is his little sister’s best friend, she is a grown woman during the summer after her first year in college. Though he wants to pursue the feelings he has, he has college and a building career focus all of his energy on. Everything else is pushed to the back burner for Ethan. When everyone has found there place in the world and achieved their goal is when they finally can focus on the important aspects of their personal lives.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the story of Sam who has been best friends with Helen since elementary school. Although time has changed their personalities; their friendship remains strong. Sam has also been in love with Helens brother Ethan since he saved her from almost drowning when she was stuck in mud. Fast forward to the summer of college break where 20 year old ladies and 25 year old Ethan are together again. Situations arise Sam’s love grows stronger and Ethan sees her in a new light. Toward the end of summer Ethan is being celebrated for his many accomplishments including becoming a member of the Seahawks. That night Sam and Ethan hook up. Sam panics and leaves. Ethan goes onto Seattle to be a star. Four years go by and the three friends reunite. Will their love become a reality, a summer fling or nothing at all. Read on to find out. I am really enjoying this author.

Hot and sweet and did I mention HOT? Ethan HS football hero on his way to the NFL has 1 secret night with the girl of his dreams, Sam, his sister's best friend. Sam would never ask Ethan to give up his dreams and she can never let her best friend know that her crush has turned into a night of fulfilled promise. So she leaves to college without seeing or speaking to Ethan again. Now she is back in their home town as a teacher and Ethan and his sister are both back for a summer of vacation. Ethan wants answers. He wants to now why she left him alone that night and ghosted him and he wants to rekindle their relationship. Sam wants those things too bu is it all worth risking it if she will lose her beat friend in the process knowing that at Summer's end Ethan will leave to return to the NFL? This story was hot and sweet and did I mention hot? I received an ARC for my HONEST review.
Sam as been best friends with helen forever and she has a crush oh helen's brother ethan. The more time she spends at their house during the summer break from college the more her feelings grow for him but sam thinks its one sided until ethan shows part of his own feelings for her. Sam has always had a crush on her best friend’s brother Ethan. Ethan has always cared for Sam. They had a one night stand while they were both home for the summer college break. Ethan gets drafted by the Seattle Seahawks and is leaving San Diego. They meet up again 4 years late when they all return home. Do Sam and Ethan have another fling or do they get their HEA?
This book made me think of my first time and wish it was as hot as Sam & Ethan's. What a fantastic story that really took me away for a while. Loved both of them and only was angry it took them 4 years to get their crap together. Also being someone who knows less than nothing about football, I didn't get lost or bored keeping up with the game talk. Might just get me to watch a game in the future........

This is one of my favourite genres. I felt the ending was a little rushed, and the conflict wasn't much of a conflict . I also felt that the characters didn't act their age, especially the herione and her best friend. The herione was quite resentful, and her "poor me" attitude did get on my nerves quite a bit. On the whole,it's not too bad.
I received an ARC copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to review this book. I enjoyed this book. For me it was a quick read. I enjoyed the story and truthfully I guess it's because I was the little sister no one would even look at because of my brothers. Honestly I wasn't sure I was going to like it when I found out the guy was a jock...they can be cocky and man whores but this guy seemed like a nice guy. I encourage you to get this book, it's worth your time and effort. Scarlet Wilder did a great job with this one!

This book pulls at the old heart strings. This is a beautiful book. With extremely well written characters. Risking it is such a great read. It was emotional and I was truly in love with Ethan and Samantha. Helen may be Ethan's sister and Samantha's best friend, so their relationship is a bit taboo, but they are extremely well matched. I could not be happier I read this book. It was perfect from start to finish.

This is a wonderful love story that is steamy, has hot chemistry, passion, lots of pain, friend issues, attraction and emotional ups and downs with unexpected twists. Its written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating, heartwarming and inspiring constantly turning page after page.

Oh my gosh, Ethan and Sam. They are just the best. Helen, I loved her as well. I love second chance stories as well as best friend’s brother stories, and this story is the perfect combo of both and was so good. The fire between Ethan and Sam is blazing hot. I love a good bit of angst for the h and H to work through, and this story does not disappoint. I love, love, loved the story and the ending was like the ribbon and bow that beautifully wrapped up the package. It was so good!
I don’t know how I finished this book. The writing is very immature, and the NUMBEROUS errors were beyond distracting – grammar, word usage, timing, accuracy, inconsistency – the entire book is riddled with them.
The author obviously doesn’t know a thing about football and did absolutely no research! There are so many problems all around, with just about every facet of football. I won’t even begin to address the errors when it came to the game!!
I have never in my life left such a horrible review but there is no way possible I could not comment. I truly do not understand all the 4 and 5-star reviews.
I received an advanced copy of this book, and this review is based on what I received. I can only hope this was not the published version.
Life happens and she has a crush on him that grows as the years go by. The only thing standing in the ways is he is her best friend's brother. He grows as the years go by both mentally and physically. When they get older he wants her. It is exciting, hot, suspenseful and so much more. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book from Booksprout. Sam and Ethan; could not get together in high school. Ethan is her best friend's older brother, and a football star. He is drafted and goes to fulfill his dream. He ends up making it back to town, and finds he may not be able to leave her again. I hoped for an HEA. I know you will too!
Two best friends that couldn't be more different, an older brother, and a secret crush sounds cliche, but I found I really enjoyed Sam and Ethan's story. All through the story I kept wondering how Helen would find out about Sam's "secret", and I was not disappointed. The story ties all of it's loose ends up nicely, but I wouldn't be against reading a story about Helen's adventures.
I really loved this book. It's just frustrating that they lost so many years being together just because they couldn't be honest with each other. Of you like books where there is a reason that keeps the couple apart, than this is really a book doe you.

This is a sweet story of young love with her friend's brother, who's sisterly instincts have changed into something more. After a brief encounter, they go separate ways and settle into careers. Years later they meet again and those sparks are still there. I enjoyed this story.
