Dry Lake Pack #2

Running from the Past

Rate this book
Josh was raised in a home with an abusive father who gave him not a single shred of love or attention. Labeled by his father, his school and the courts as incompetent and dangerous to those around him, Josh knows that his life is unfair. He knows that he is none of those things, but his own self-doubts keep him from standing up for himself. Framed for the murder of two police officers, 14-year-old Josh runs from the crime scene to hide in LA where he is taken in by Fenix and The Crew. They nurse him back to health and show him that there really are good people in the world.

Eli cannot remember his past or how he came to be found in shift form, collapsed from exhaustion on the side of the road. He had all but lost the will to live. The cougar pride that rescued him used a blood bond to help the traumatized teen to cope. Mute from trauma, Eli finds love and acceptance in the people who took him in and made him one of their own. When his past catches up with him and his memories come flooding back, he loses his precious blood bond with his pride.

Can two traumatized men overcome the evils they survived in their pasts in order to bond? Will their bond be strong enough to last through Josh’s past catching up with him? Can Eli find it within himself to forgive the sins of his past?

WARNING: This is a M/M book that contains erotic scenes between two males, male pregnancy, and may be triggering to more sensitive readers. Intended for readers 18+ ONLY.

This book needed some major editing. Serious. Editing. Things just didn't work, they didn't make sense, and it was hard to follow and to even get into the story. Sorry, I did enjoy the first one but this one I DNF around the 75% mark.

Family are the ones who accept our wounded souls...

Two wounded souls who never thought they would find mates, find True Mates in each other.
Omega Elk shifter Eli has spend over a decade, unable to remember his past and unable to speak. An incident in his past was so traumatic he fled his here and found a new life thousands of miles away. He is happy, accepted and loved.
Human Josh was an abused, bullied and tortured child whose father killed two police officers and tried to frame Josh for the crime. He flees and ends up with Pop's and the crew. His life becomes happy and filled with friends like family and a sense of self worth.
When these two men scent each other and mate, their pasts also come back to haunt them. and Josh learns he's a latent Alpha Wolf Shifter. But with the strength of a True Mate bond, and help from their Crew, their pack and their Pride, these two will face their future together... And their pasts.

A wonderful story with intriguing characters. I am finding it hard to put down the books in this series. Again, There are editing issues that the author says will be fixed in the future that some readers may find distracting. I personally did not find them to be a distracting from the entertaining storyline. I definitely recommend this book.

3,5 *

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

This is book 2 of the Dry Lake Pack series. Have some tissue on hand for this one. Love how the author was able to draw the broken soul that happens to often into a beautiful story. We get to get more involve with Pop's crew. Love how they stand together with each other even with all the differences. This story draws us in with the story of two people that thought they were to broken for them to find that special love. cant wait to see who is the next to fall in Dry Lake Pack or Pops Crew. Highly recommend this book and series. Will say that it does talk about every day issue going on that may be trigger for some.

This book has a lot of potential, but it definitely could have been edited and researched better, even without professional editing. The handling of sign language was stilted and awkward. There was one whole speech where someone translated and repeated everything the character signing said (I highlighted a portion). I did enjoy that there was more plot to this installment than in the first book. It didn't all make sense (that incredibly flimsy case, for example), but it was entertaining. I think even a few excellent beta readers could have made this a 4 star read for me.

The 3 stars is for the story and NOT for the writing. Honestly the editing and misuse of words, misspelled words and words that shouldn't even be there is just awful. If you can ignore all the errors the series is actually pretty good.

Despite the need of an editor, which the author fully acknowledged in a note to her readers, this series has captured my interest. Lynn has created an interesting world with varied characters. I hope she finds someone in the literary world to take her under their wing because she is fun.

Hmmm

Hmmm, not as big of a fan as O was for the first one. There was some unanswered questions. Like the white wolf? Also, there were some typos in This one. More than the first. I'm still going straight for book three though.

Brilliant

Omg words cannot decribe how glad i am to continue reading this series. The descriptions defiently does not do them any justice. This book was an emotional rollercoaster had to use a tissue a couple of times as it made me cry.

I read some of the other reviews so I was not at all surprised by all the grammar and spelling errors. Still an enjoyable story.

So good

This one is way more angsty than the first book. Both MCs have been so traumatize that they aren't made whole until they meet, this is a great addition to the series.

Josh was an abused boy and always been a little slow. Two dead cops and a dad who fortunately is a bad shot when he is too high , so he runs and hitches a ride and walked right into the alley where Pops is waiting for him. Pops know when and where one of his boys is gonna show up. He is taken in by the crew and grows to be a great assest.

Eli was planning on spending the day fishing while his little sister played beside him. The day ends up with him so full of guilt, fear and so much remorse he runs and runs... and runs for thousand of miles till he is picked up by a pride . They help him recover.

Two men both tramatized find each other and find they are connected in more ways than one.
