Tia McCollors used to dream of being a television news anchor, but her destiny led her behind the pages instead of in front of the cameras. After earning a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from UNC-Chapel Hill, she went on to build a successful career in the public relations industry. In 1999, a job layoff prompted Tia to discover and pursue a writing career as an author. Following the birth of her son in 2006, she left the corporate arena to focus on her family and her expanding writing and speaking business.

Tia’s first novel, A Heart of Devotion, was an Essence Magazine bestseller. She followed her popular debut with four other inspirational novels including Zora’s Cry, The Truth About Love, The Last Woman Standing, and Steppin’ Into The Good Life. In 2012, she released If These Shoes Could Talk, her first devotion book of The Prissy Purse Devotions series. Tia’s sixth novel, Friday Night Love, will be released in May 2014, followed by Sunday Morning Song in October 2014.

In addition to being an author, Tia is an inspirational speaker as well as an instructor for writing workshops. Her speaking and literary works have been spotlighted in a growing number of publications, including Black Enterprise magazine, Who’s Who In Atlanta, The Good Life magazine and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. In December 2013, she was honored to receive the Jubilee of Reading Heritage Award by the DeKalb County Library System.

Many of the books that I have read that were labeled "Christian Fiction," have had characters that simply attended church on Sunday and often acted a complete sinful fool the rest of the time. I really could not tell the difference between those books and regular mainstream fiction, despite the sometimes excessive peppering of bible scriptures in some of these books.

Thus, I really have to commend Tia McCollors for creating characters that seemed to be really trying to live The Word. However, the "voice of God" method for constantly reminding us that this is Christian fiction and Christian characters really got annoying after the first chapter. There are much better ways to make characters think, to show those thoughts, and to move characters to action.

There were also a few things that I wondered about during this read. For instance, I could never understand the purpose of the character "Calvin Wright." He did not move the story along at all, yet, he showed up at least twice. I kind of expected him to come back again and do something profoundly important for the story, but it never happened. This makes me wonder why he was included at all.

Lastly, I had mixed feelings about the ending. What I expected to happen did happen, but, as I was reading, I secretly hoped that McCollors would fight the norm and that things would happen a little differently.

Nevertheless, this was a worthwhile read, especially if you are looking for some real Christian Fiction. I will probably be reading more of her books.

This book was great and everyone lady can relate to this story by Tia McCollors. Its funny, romantic and touching! Its a powerful novel of friendship and faith between two friends who are sisters for life and one of them finds a guy who's great and is a Christian.

Anisha Blake and her best friend Sherri Dawson are running on empty in the dating scene until Anisha meets the handsome and charming Tyson Randall at her local church. He is everything she could ever want:honest, ambitious, easy on the eyes, and religiously devout-and he even has a good looking friend for Sherri, too. But soon Anisha risk losing Tyson to a convincing woman from his past. And it certainly doesnt help that Sherri has found out that Tyson's friend Xavier is a wolf in sheep's clothing. With so much drama in their love lives, can Anisha and Sherri stay focused on their commitment to their faith?

I couldnt put it down...each chapter is good..enjoy!

This book was hard for me to read in the beginning. I thought that was odd considering I love Tia's writing style. As I continued to read I relized that it was due to the fact that I had issues with where I placed God in my life. My priorities were not straight. At the end of the book I felt convicted and God is dealing with me.

Thank You Tia for challenging me in my relationship with God.

Tia McCollors steps out on faith and pens a blessed romance, which proves that falling head over heels in love with God will change your life forever. Anisha Blake is a single black female on the fast track to success in the corporate world, but is riding on empty in the dating scene. Anisha has gone seventy-eight weekends without a date and still does not have a prospect. She spends most of her free time either with her girlfriend, Sherri, thinking about starting her own consulting firm, or meditating on God. Anisha promises God she will invest more time into her relationship with Him then Tyson Randall called turning her world upside down.

Anisha and Tyson initially met at church. He was everything she prayed for in a man - honest, good-looking, goal-oriented, and most important, had a relationship with the Lord. They had a whirlwind affair full of love, respect, and honesty. That is until his ex- girlfriend, Brandy showed up. After a series of coincidences, family issues and job-related problems, Anisha decided to listen to the urging of her heart and establish a closer relationship with God. In order to accomplish this task, she had to let go of some distractions and Tyson was one of them. Will Anisha be able to focus of God and listen to the Holy Spirit? Will Anisha and Tyson be able to find each other again?

Meanwhile, Sherri was dealing with her own demons. She was a roommate with two other friends, Veronica and Tamara, both of which she wanted to share the word of God with but did not have the courage. Sherri, like Anisha, had been dateless for more weekends then she cared to count. She desired to be loved and held by a man more than anything, even though she made a personal covenant with God that she would remain celibate until marriage. Would Sherri find a man to love as much as she loved God? Will she be able to find her purpose?

A Heart of Devotion is an exquisite piece of literary work that will minister to everyone who reads the words from its pages. McCollors does an extraordinary job of developing the characters and inserting the voice of God into their thoughts. Her use of scripture and ability to make you think about the Word of God is awe-inspiring. A Heart of Devotion will convict the reader and minister to your soul. A must read for the Christian Romance fan, anyone that is searching for their purpose in life or someone wanting to have a love affair with God. Tia McCollors is well on her way to becoming the next best- selling Christian fiction author.

Anisha and Sherri have been best friends for five years. When Anisha starts dating Tyson Sherri feels like their friendship is suffering. The thing that suffers is Anisha and Tyson's relationship because when Anisha tells Tyson she has to take a break from the relationship he gets offended. His old girlfriend who dumped him, now decides she wants to be back in his life with her daughter. Tyson is offended, so that gave his old girlfriend the chance to slide right in. Tyson soon realizes that Brandy wants nothing to do with his vision, she never asks him how his centre for the young boys is coming along, she never asks him about the young boys he mentors. Tyson knows he has made a big mistake by dumping Anisha. He goes back to make things right, but it's not as easy as he thought it would be. He soon realizes that what was good for him was right in his face all along. Read: August 2013

Anisha and Sherri are the main characters in this faith based novel. I could definitely relate to Anisha's character and what she experienced in the story. The plot was interesting and realistic. I also felt that the message in the novel was powerful. If you like Christian fiction, I recommend that you read this book.

This book is a very inspirational book for someone who feels like they are constantly battling with some issue in their life whether it is to do with finances, love, family etc. It teaches the readers to put their trust in God and never give up even when things are at the worst. This book was like a self help book to me in the form of fiction. I relate 100% to Anisha.
