I read and fell in love with book one of this trilogy when it first came out and couldn't wait to get my hands on a sequel. Maybe it's just not my year for sequels but 'Hottest Mess' was a big time let down. What made me fall in love with book one was the plot which was completely LOST in this installment. And when I say 'lost' I mean lost in all the finger fucking. That's all this book was: sex, sex and more sex. Again, I am NOT a prude and mostly read and review erotica and I get the whole 'sex sells' thing in the publishing world but there IS such a thing as "TOO MUCH SEX and not enough substance" and this book is the prime example. I know I am in the minority but I feel like there was no need for this book.

I am really bummed about this because J. Kenner is a fantastic author whose writing I really enjoy. I will finish the trilogy simply because I need to know whodunnit! Crossing fingers for more story and less fucking.

2 "He's mine." Stars

The second installment of the S.I.N. series was a hard one for me to get through, I actually paused less than half way and picked it up again much later. I really enjoyed the first book, Dirtiest Secret however this follow-up didn't excite me like the last in fact it bored me a bit. Though, just to note, you must read book one before starting book two or you miss very pertinent information to the story.

Kenner's writing is really good. Her use of words and sentence structure the shining light of the continuation of Dallas and Jane's sordid tale. Unfortunately the plot didn't move forward much here until almost the end. Plot holes were filled with too much sex and where book one had so much substance book two left me unfulfilled in terms of plot. And I think that's a good description of what this was for me, a filler. I read a lot of redundancy. A lot back and forth about the relationship status of the two main characters and so much emphasis on the taboo that nothing fully developed here for me. While fiery passion and hot sex is always good I need more plot to bridge and transition those scenes to make me love the book.

At the end we get some action with the last few chapters and it appears book three will drive the substantial plot from book one forward a lot. I hope that's the case because I still have a soft spot for Dallas and Jane, their plight, their history, and hopefully their future.

Wow! Finally we get past most, not all, of the OW drama and get to the meat of the story. Wow! Ok, so what I'm loving about this story is Dallas and Jane were kidnapped when they were 15. 17 years later and Dallas is still trying to find the man known as the jailor and the woman who tortured him. They are so close and in my head I'm pretty sure I have the woman figured out but yeah, I could totally be wrong, but that's what is making this story so exciting! We have great progress in Dallas and Janes relationship and there are a few key players in this story that I feel like we will learn more, so I can definately say this series is not boring. The first book was hard cause of the OTT OW drama but with the progress of their relationship, we finally get to focus on the kidnappings and of course we end book 2 on a huge cliffhanger. I can't wait for book 3!

As I said in book 1, this book isn’t scandalous to me as I don’t consider this a true taboo romance. Therefore, all the secrecy seems shallow and motivated more at the loss of financial benefits than public outrage.

Dallas and Jane have acknowledged their feelings for each other but can only revel in their clandestine love affair in secret.

At the same time, they work together to uncover the mastermind before a traumatic incident in their past. This book didn’t really advance the plot that much once you take out the copious amount of sex that Dallas and Jane were having. The one thing I truly enjoyed was Jane evolving from the submissive, needy, slightly pathetic girl to a more confident and stable woman. She started standing up for herself and stating what she wanted. I think this story is more about her growth, healing and seeking justice than her romance with Dallas. But the ending of this book was encouraging.

My interest in the plot lies in the mystery and not the romance because I didn’t buy the forbidden love thing. I must admit to growing impatient while reading this book because I had hoped to have more information about the antagonist. I am hoping that book 3 will finally answer all the questions I have.

We're finally back with Jane & Dallas.
At the end of the first book we were afraid that finding out about Dallas and his DELIVERANCE group would be too much for Jane to handle. But in the end Dallas could convince her to give him another chance. And now we're back at his house in the Hamptons, happily sexing it up with our darlings. While there's still no penile penetration ☺☺☺ there's still LOTS of sexy times to be had.
But the forbidden part about loving your sibling in that way is almost too heavy a burden to bear for Jane and Dallas. Nobody can know about them. They can never hold hands in public.

I'm terribly afraid that our secret is going to destroy us.

And there's still Dallas and his secret agent stuff that's on Jane's mind - she understands his reasons, but she's still against all those vigilante groups.

Can this almost otherworldly love survive all that's coming at them?

"This whole thing is a hot mess, you know. How are we ever going to make this work?"
"I don't know, but we will. Don't ever doubt it. Don't ever doubt us."

Secrets and dangers could destroy everything they've waited 17 years to have again...

What will happen with Dallas & Jane?
Will there be a HEA?
Will everybody survive this 2nd booK??
Or will there be a horrible Cliffy?

I'm not telling you that of course ☺ But yes - CLIFFY ☺☺☺

Perfect 2nd book in this amazing series!

eeeeep ☺ finally back with Dallas & Jane - and of course Liam and Archie et cetera ....

I just love Dallas! This poor guy. He's been in love with Jane almost his whole life and she's been in love with him. They shouldn't love each other the way they do, but they do.

And it's so adorably heartbreaking to watch them fight for their love in this impossible situation.

And all those secrets and lies are so hard on our darlings.

Added to the whole DELIVERANCE thing is the sex part. I really hope that Dallas will be able to overcome his kidnapping-terror one day soon.

But of course there's still LOTS of amazing sexiness in this book!

Phew!!! ☺☺☺

description

I want Dallas and Jane to have their Happily Ever After now, but of course we know that there are still lots of problems; secrets, lies, et cetera to overcome until we might see a HEA on the horizon. ☺
But we're having an amazing time reading how they'll get there.....

HOTTEST MESS was an extremely erotic & exciting 2nd book in this amazing series! The perfect sexy mystery-suspense-romance. ☺

...and even if the story wouldn't be interesting at all - you still don't want to miss reading it - you'll sooo fall in love with Dallas Sykes too☺ ☺ ☺

Love cannot be forbidden. The more that flame is covered up, the hotter it burns. Love can always find a way. ~ Pyramus and Thisbe

I'm on a forbidden love book binge! I can't get enough of these achingly addictive reads that are guilty pieces of pleasure. Hottest Mess is a forbidden fantasy. Edgy, enticing, and enthralling, Hottest Mess is a forbidden tale of twists and turns that blazes your body, hits your heart hard, and leaves you longing for more. And oh did I pant for more as I was inhaling this intense and invigorating book.

Sometimes you read a story that feels like you just completed a marathon. Your heart is racing. Your pulse is pounding. Your body is blazing fire. You're still reeling from the high. Hottest Mess is a heady HIGH, and oh did this forbidden book of fierce love deliver the FEELS!!!

I dove into Hottest Mess, devouring this delicious and devastatingly beautiful book with determination and desire. A tale with twists and turns through the darkness to find the light. The mystery enveloped me, surrounding me in this sea of suspense where I searched for answers, feverishly reading to find them. My senses were on high alert.

To want what and who you can't have is angst. Pure agony. Love knows no bounds but Dallas and Jane are siblings whose love is limited to closed doors where to surface would be sin and scandal.

Dark-haired and dark-eyed beauty Jane Martin is a well-known author of thrillers involving abductions.

"The man I love. The man who I can have in private, but never in public. The man who is my brother."

Dallas Sykes with his golden-brown hair and blue eyes is tall and built. An Adonis known as the King of F**k. A billionaire owner of many businesses and a tormented man of many layers.

Jane and Dallas' chemistry is combustible. So super scorching HOT. Dallas delivers the involuntary thigh clenches with mere words.

"Do you think you're running this show, baby? You're getting off because I say you can get off. You're mine, remember? Every touch. Every orgasm."

Oh Dallas...delicious and dirty-talking Dallas. A man who melted me with his tantalizing talk. He quickly became my addiction.

"I own you. I've always owned you."

Dallas owns Jane. Dallas owns me.

"I only know need. I only understand want. I crave him."

Jane and Dallas fell in love while surviving a harrowing ordeal when they were teens that still haunts them today. Though that love has to lurk in the shadows.

"He's mine. Dallas Sykes is absolutely, one hundred percent, totally mine. And yet I can't have him. Not in the way that counts. Not in the way that matters."

I nearly nibbled on my nails as the highs and lows of Hottest Mess pulled me under like the tide of the sea. Love is a complicated beast and sometimes walking way is the only way to protect it.

..."The more I think about it, the more I fear this is the end. That he is going to leave me in order to save me. But all that will really do is destroy me."

Hottest Mess DESTROYED ME.The highs and lows. The pushes and pulls. My soul shattered. My heart hoped for happiness and healing from the storm of secrets I knew would come crashing down, possibly ending Dallas and Jane for good.

"It's a forbidden love, a hidden passion. It's a secret, and it has to stay that way. But secrets scare me, because things hidden in the dark have power. Dallas and I know that better than anyone."

From the very first page until the very end, Hottest Mess held me in its clutches where I was its captive. I chased the high called Hottest Mess. Transfixed to where everything else around me blurred and I blended with this story. Transported into a web of secrets and seduction. Totally immersed into the Hottest Mess, which is messy love indeed.

I FELT EVERY WORD I READ as the pages pounded me hard!!! Hottest Mess' pain...its passion...its power...bled into me...became me. The seductive and suspenseful Hottest Mess spun me into its web, casting a spell, weaving me in deeply; I was all in until the very end.

Hope. Heartbreak. Happiness. I was hungry for more. So much more of this tantalizing, thrilling, and twisted ride. J. Kenner's Hottest Mess stole my soul as it dug itself deeply into my heart where it still remains long after finishing this intoxicating and intense story. I may still be a hot mess.

Holy intense and hot! So much passion and drama. I loved it. I think I might have held my breath during the first chapter. Everything was so captivating with complex characters that are entangled in a heated and complicated relationship. Riveting, heart stopping, and erotic! I loved every second!

Dallas and Jane have a intense relationship, there is a great mix of love, angst, and sexual tension between these two. I I love how their story is playing out. Their faced with so many obstacles and complications but are committed to each other. All these little details are emerging and I pretty much hung on every word. Dallas and Jane have got such a push and pull happening with each other. Seriously erotic. Dark and sexy. I don’t even know what to say here because it’s erotica and it’s intense and beyond scorching. I don't know if I have enough adjectives to explain how awesome everything was.

Dallas is so complicated and still has so many secrets. At times I'd get frustrated with him even though I totally understood where he was coming from. I felt for him. So much pain, his head is a mess when it come to sex and there are serious issues he’s dealing with. I really like how it was explored. It was a bit darker and I found it captivating. I loved how strong Jane is becoming. So many issues of jealousy and trust but I could see her growing and it was great. Lots of ups and downs but so worth it.

Loved all the drama. Lots of details learned which was awesome. I feel this is very much a solid book two in the trilogy. I had so many questions after Dirtiest Secret and I was right about one and have a theory about another, so excited to find out if I am right. For as many answers as I got, I have even more questions so I can't wait to get my hands on Sweetest Taboo. The ending was awesome. So much emotion is happening and the bam! Cliffhanger! It is a great hook and lead in to the next story.

J. Kenner has created a fascinating world with raw and intriguing characters that you want to root for and fix. They're complicated, intense, and passionate. The writing is fantastic, drawing you in, making you feel the angst and emotion. This is a series not to be missed!

Hottest Mess is the follow up to Dirtiest Secret. It’s a dark, sexy, roller coaster ride of fucked-upped-ness. It’s perfect!

Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin have hidden secrets their whole life. Those secrets become so much a part of them, it’s like breathing. But if they breathe wrong, their world has the potential to implode. Dallas’ brooding sexiness flows off the pages like Jane’s skirts in the NY summer winds.

They fight.
They love.
They make up.

But in the eyes of polite society, they fear being judged. This book makes me believe that there are people who would do anything for love. People who would fight to the death for the ones they love. In a world of crazy, this isn’t crazy. This is phenomenal and wild and makes my heart pound. Life isn’t easy for Dallas and Jane, and they don’t let the insanity get to them. They persevere, together.

An extremely sexy ride of fucked-upped-ness that draws you in from page one and keeps you connected to the very end. ~ Heather, 5 stars

Wanna complicate your life?

Fall in love with your brother.

Yeah. That'll do it. lol

Such is the case with Dallas and Jane--who are siblings through adoption. They've had a thing for each other for years and are finally giving into temptation. To add fuel to the fire they're also dealing with the aftermath of being kidnapped as teenagers and the continued hunt for the people who set them up all those years ago. An emotional roller coaster like you wouldn't believe.

Alright, so, I think this is one series--or maybe author-- that I'm going to have a love-hate relationship with. Hottest Mess? It was a mix. I enjoyed parts and then others just irked me a bit.

So all the good bits.

I really like Jane and Dallas. Individually and as a couple, as unconventional as they are. And I liked seeing them deal with their issues. There are some incredibly touching scenes, some that hurt to read, some funny and sweet and some very very hot ones. They're a good mix of everything and I love that they really get each other.
He heard her the moment she stepped into the room, and he expected it when she came to him. When she put her arms around him and held him close, her face pressed against his back.

She said nothing, just held him, and it was her touch that gave him strength.
They've got some serious heat smoldering between them but it's not all perfect which was very interesting to see. He's actually got some issues keeping his manly bits at an, erm, full salute. You just don't see that too often in romances. It was a big thing them working through the emotional damage from the past that's causing it. The way they go about it? It may not work for some. Their past is fucked up and sometimes how they deal with it is rather fucked up too. But it's them.

The mystery is ongoing and to do with hunting their abductors and who was behind it all those years ago. It moved along a little but not too much. I like seeing them piece it together but do wish more was happening.

And some issues.

The heroine slapping the hero...again. Really yall. This is just the stupidest damn thing to still be happening in romances. She was frustrated the first time and angry the second time and striking him was her choice. Enough!

There was also a cliffhanger ending. The first book had a semi-cliffy and it didn't bug me but this time it gave me a growl even though I was expecting it. I think had more actually happened in the book it wouldn't bug me as much.

And after reading this one honestly the books could have just been one book instead of three. There's not enough extra going on to justify three books I don't think. Especially at their cost. It kept me reading and I enjoyed it on the surface but there was so much stuff that was basically a rinse and repeat of book one. I don't think I'd recommend reading them right in a row. With a number of books between them I think it kept me enjoying it overall.

All in all, while I enjoyed Hottest Mess for what it was--an easy diversion--but it's not one that rocked my reader-world. I would have put this at a 3.5 but the second time the heroine slapped the hero with nothing being said just irked me. So, I enjoyed it but at the same time ended feeling less than totally satisfied with the reading experience.

I gave this audiobook a B+ for the narration and a C- for the story AudioGals*

Narrated by Lucy Rivers

I’m a fan of J. Kenner’s erotic romantic suspense titles, but the Dirtiest Trilogy just hasn’t hit the mark with me. Still bearing Kenner’s signature taboo or damaged hero who needs to experience passion in a more than plain vanilla way as a result of past demons, but just missing a certain intensity or intrigue factor, I felt like Hottest Mess was a rehash of the themes we already learned in Dirtiest Secret. It failed to move the needle forward on either the romance or the underlying suspense arc, except for in a few rushed passages at the end, and I was left with doubts as to whether I should continue with the next and final book in the Dirtiest Trilogy, Sweetest Taboo. Instead it felt like the focus of this book was on too much gratuitous, heat-filled scenes rather than on unrolling a complex plot which is what I yearn for in a romantic suspense title.

Ending: 3/5. Cliffhanger: f*ck yeah…

Will I continue this series? I have to mention; I am deducting some points on this series as a whole because I feel it could have been told in one book (with a little less sex in it) much better than being stretched out into three. Even two books would have been okay.

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 3.3/5 STARS ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

⇝My Thoughts⇜

I received an ARC of the first book (Dirtiest Secret) and the last book (Sweetest Taboo), but this one…I was denied, I don't know, go figure??? So I had to get this one from the library and I had to wait forever for it, so despite my feelings, there is definitely a lot of people who love this stuff.
I really like the mystery in this; surrounding the whole kidnapping that Dallas and Jane suffered in their teens, it's gut wrenching and yet...intriguing. If it wasn't for that element I probably wouldn't even continue the series. The Taboo part…hehhh…not really a factor for me, they liked each other in that way before they ever become adopted siblings. At least they aren't actual brother and sister, because that is super eww.
⇝Sex Factor⇜ I cannot lie…this chic can write some scorching sex scenes. Very Sex-plicit!!! For me, the amount of sex is a little over the top.

This picks up right where the 1st book ended. Oddly enough, it felt jarring diving into smexy moments right from the get go (say wut! I know, right?!), so I had to quickly go back to 1st bk, and read the end part to somewhat reacquaint myself with the story, then yes, I got it.

Dallas and Jane’s story continues. In that f*cked up situation that they found themselves in, they’re trying to make things work. They’ve managed to get things moving forward in the bedroom, but outside of it, it’s a little more tricky, to put it mildly.

They belong to each other, but there’s a tons of things for them to deal with. That traumatic event in their childhood continues to have its grip on them, especially Dallas, there are still unanswered questions, and they have to make a decision on how to handle their relationship out in the open.

I must admit I was waiting for things to happen as I’m being given lots of smexy times. Could there really be too much? There can be, riiight?! I think that’s always the challenge in the 2nd book when it’s a trilogy. It can easily veer to filler mode, but as I’m nearing the end, I realized there was a reason for it all. I thought in a way, it was building up the angst and highlighting the taboo aspect of their relationship and how they’re trying to make it work. So that by the end, when the sh!t hit the roof so to speak, I was happy and worried for them. And while the whole get-to-the-bottom-of-things felt like it took a backseat to the hot times, by the end, you’re just hit in your face with the events, BAM!

Now to hopefully get my hands on the final book *holds breath* (YKWIM)

First, I enjoy reading J. Kenner and her Stark Novels. In those we met Dallas Sykes. Because I love reading her stuff and like Dallas' character I wanted to read his story. It is not my normal thing, however, because I think he will show up in future books I want to understand and know more.

I am not even going to try to explain the background because it is so convoluted that it makes my head spin as I found out today while trying to explain to my adult daughter who loves to read the storyline up to this point so I could explain this book. But here are the basics:

-Dallas & Jane are adopted siblings.
-Dallas' biological father died and Eli adopted him legally.
-Lisa, who is Jane's biological mother is married to Eli.
-During Lisa and Colin's marriage Lisa and Eli had an affair and divorced.
-Eli and Lisa married.
-After Colin, Jane's biological father got mixed up in criminal activities Lisa and Eli had his parental rights revoked and then Eli adopted Jane, as well.
-Dallas and Jane were kidnapped 17 years ago and first acted on their feelings for one another. They were tortured during the kidnapping.
-Eli had realized what was happening and threatened to disown them both if Dallas ever acted on those feelings.
-Adele is an ex of Colin's, and also a therapist as well as has slept with Dallas.

Now that catches you up on the familia contacts. You will have to read the first two books to get a grasp on the other things and players in the game. And there are quite a few. Liam is their best friend. But he is also a member of the group Deliverance that Dallas has founded to find their kidnappers.

In this book, the proverbial shit hits the fan, on high! The writing is a bit different than the writing I'm used to by this author and a bit chaotic.

This book, the story of Dallas and Jane in general, is a train wreck waiting to happen and it starts hitting the rails right here. But I just cannot look away.

So, why a 3.5? I am not a fan of the emphasis on the taboo, I get the taboo, I just feel like the repetitive emphasis on it takes away from the story. There is a huge story in just the happenings in the kidnapping and their life along with the details of his torture. I thought the writing was much more chaotic in this book and I even put it down to read something else for awhile and then came back to it. I will however read the next because I want to find out who's behind this, even though I think I know. And I want to find out what happens between the family members.

Continuing on from where the first book Dirtiest Secret ends, I was enraptured from the first word to the last.

Dallas and Jane's story is not an easy one, there are so much darkness lurking being the smiles and the reputations. My heart just keeps on breaking for them both, but especially for Dallas.

I just want this adorable broken pair to get their happy ever after, but just as I think they might be getting close, Ms Kenner rips it all away from me... again!

There are so many ups and downs, twists and turns in Hottest Mess that I never know which way I am going to be pulled next - and I love it.

I didn't want this installment of the S.I.N series to end, but it had to. But be warned...

We were cliffhangered! And OMG WHAT a cliffhanger!

Can't wait for the last installment, The Sweetest Taboo to hit my kindle.

Dirtiest Secret was my most taboo read so far this year and I loved every second of it. Hottest Mess kept the kinky romance between Dallas and Jane going full force and delves even further into the dark and twisted needs that each harbor as a result of their traumatic past.

While technically Dallas and Jane are siblings, it’s in name only and so I got the need to keep their connection private but I never fully thought of them as brother and sister, so I wasn’t as shocked and I wasn’t sure everyone else would be either. But, I understood. The thrill of being caught each time they had sex right under some unsuspecting party goer or movie watchers nose definitely heightened those scenes, bringing them to new levels each time.

Jane spends a great deal of time pushing Dallas past his limits in an attempt to get him to acknowledge the effects of their imprisonment years before on his psyche and his sexual needs. She demands that he tell her everything both about what happened to him so many years ago and what he has found out regarding the identities of those behind the kidnapping.

Dallas wants nothing more than to be honest with Jane but the intel he has uncovered suggests the person behind their kidnapping was close to them and he doesn’t want to upset her if he’s wrong. The darkness he feels isn’t something he wants to taint Jane with even as she pleads for him to do just that.

While I found the sex hot I didn’t think it was overly dark. Somewhat dominant and kinky yes, but nothing that left me shocked by the twistedness or anything. Dallas makes great strides throughout the book and Kenner does a fantastic job of showcasing that. Growth in a character as the book, trilogy or series progresses is what keeps me coming back for more and Kenner knows how to take her readers on that journey right along with her characters, I also enjoyed how Jane’s opinion of the covert team Dallas helms changed as she found out more details of his captivity. While I found some of her constant pushing grating, in this aspect she won me over.

Of course, just after some heavy revelations are dropped the book comes to a screeching halt with a dramatic cliffhanger that is sure to bring readers back in droves for the final book in the trilogy. Myself among them. Hottest Mess delivers an erotic story of healing and vengeance years in the making!

I give Hottest Mess by J. Kenner 4 stars!

Well, where do I even start with this book? I absolutely loved book 1 in this new series from J Kenner, so I couldn't wait to see where this story went in book 2, and I was not disappointed!! Though, yes, the forbidden aspect of this story is a big part, there is so much more to sink your teeth into and I loved that though I had my suspicions about certain people, I still don't know for definite who is behind all the chaos in Jane and Dallas' lives.

There is such a great storyline to this series, and if I was able to binge-read the entire series in one I absolutely would do! I have devoured both books which are currently released, and I have no doubt I'll do the same as the third and final book releases later this year. Forbidden romances are one of my favourite type of books, and I love everything about Jane and Dallas, and their relationship. They have such a deep love for one another and as a reader, you can almost feel that love. *dreamy sigh* I just love them.

And hot damn, they are on fire!!!! The S.I.N series is so freaking sexy, I wouldn't suggest reading it in public. I'm not a fan of books which are more sex than story, and though there is a lot of sexy scenes in Hottest Mess, I felt like the rest of the story was so very well fleshed out that it didn't bother me at all, especially considering how hot those scenes were! *fans self*

Hottest Mess was another great book by J Kenner, and I cannot wait for the release of Sweetest Taboo.

J. Kenner continues the story she started in Dirtiest Secrets. Dallas and Jane are still working on their relationship, searching for their kidnappers and having some off of the hottest sex ever.

As with the first novel, this one is full of really complex characters and tons of intrigue. I honestly cannot predict the ending. I’ve got a few theories about who’s going to be revealed as the bad guys or guys but none I’d bet on and no idea what their motives were/are. Kenner is excellent at weaving this tale and giving the readers just enough to keep us wondering.

I rated this one a little lower than the first. Not because the quality of the writing or the depth of the story wasn’t as good but because about halfway through I was starting to get tired of Dallas and Jane’s arguments. Dallas just can’t seem to tell the whole truth and Jane admits she can’t live without him but kicks him out or leaves every time she catches him keeping something from her. It’s understandable that Dallas struggles since he’s got some pretty harsh truths and they hurt to talk about. That’s completely authentic. I also understand Jane’s frustration but the roller coaster was annoying.

That said, I’m still a fan of the series and am moving right into The Sweetest Taboo. I really have to see how this all plays out and I hope these two can find their happiness.

https://elviajeporunlibro.blogspot.com/2018/08/ardiente-deseo-trilogia-pecado-ii-j.html

The S.I.N. series continues with the seductive follow-up to the Stark International Novel Dirtiest Secret, from the New York Times bestselling author of “red-hot and angsty” fiction that “keeps readers guessing” (Publishers Weekly, on Under My Skin).

No one can know about our love—and hiding only makes it hotter.

Dallas Sykes has a reputation. He is known for his parties, his money, and the countless women on his arm. Yet the Dallas I know is a different man—darker, smarter, and unbearably sexy. Just one look from him can leave me breathless; the anticipation of his touch can make me lose control.

Inextricably bound by our past, we keep each other’s secrets. And while there are people who have the power to hurt us, it’s the truth that threatens us most of all.

Dallas can be mine only behind closed doors, our passion as searing as it is forbidden. Yet nothing in this world has ever felt so desperately, deliciously right.

Review:
J. Kenner continues with Dallas’ and Jane’s story in this latest Stark International Novel. The story picks up where Dirtiest Secrets left off. Plot in the continued effort to find out who kidnapped Dallas and Jane when they were teenagers, Dallas and Jane make a commitment to their secret relationship and to not keep secrets from each other. There are too many secrets however. When Dallas’ secret is forced into the open, Jane suffers in more than one way. The chemistry is as the title says “Hottest Mess.” The pacing of this story is fast. It is full of deception, secrets, and desire. Kenner keeps us in suspense is such a delicious way. The ending is one huge cliffhanger. I for one can’t wait to see who the kidnappers are and if Jane and Dallas can survive. We are still learning so much about Dallas and Jane. We are learning more about what happened to Dallas during his time in captivity. I have to read the conclusion of this series ASAP.

Hottest Mess is the perfect title for book two of Dallas and Jane's story because both characters find themselves in a multitude of messes that are horrific, exciting, forbidden, kinky, and dark, and while their intimate relationship has grown and they are finding a way to give each other what they need, there are still too many variables at play that threaten to undo and ultimately destroy all the progress Dallas and Jane have made, and the last event in book two has the power to not only tear the lovers apart, but it also will force Dallas to confront his traumatic past and have the courage to leave it where it belongs.

For 17 years, Dallas and Jane have fought the connection between them, but that passion refuses to lay dormant anymore, so they explore their love in secret, pretending to be simply siblings in public but giving into their desires in private. But regardless of how close they have become physically, they’re still trapped in the dark because they can’t have one another the way that truly matters. They’re up against public perception, Dallas’ playboy persona, as well as their parents’ ability to send their lives crashing down due to their intimate involvement. But that’s not all the couple faces because as Dallas and Jane discuss everything that occurred to Dallas when they were kidnapped, they have to endure the nightmares and the end result of the Woman’s treatment of him, which continues to taint his life since being rescued all those years ago.

Jane is becoming a force to be reckoned with when it comes to helping Dallas through his tormented thoughts and his inability to fully give into his dark desires with her. She wants to prove to him that she can take whatever he gives her, but his unwillingness is thwarting her attempts to do so until she finally finds a way to break through to Dallas and unleash the beast inside him in order for him to begin to heal. But that doesn’t mean they’re still not facing other issues that could send them spiraling down into hell even more than they already have.

Secrets and the past have destroyed Dallas and Jane for so long that if they can't stop the cycle, they will never be together, even in the shadows, because they'll end up destroying anything that they could have due to how damaged they both are, especially Dallas. This is the part of the story that frustrated me constantly as I read book two. Dallas and Jane promised each other that there would be no more secrets, but he continued to keep them, knowing that the truth would come out, and he would have to explain to Jane why he refused to give her that information. And, while there have been a significant amount of truths revealed, there’s still more to trudge through, which will lead them and readers to one hell of a finale.

OMG! Those last couple of chapters about KILLED me!!! I'm LOVING this series! It's exciting. It's intense. It's deliciously forbidden!

This decadent read will take you to a dark and sexy place. It's filled to the brim with HOT sex, FORBIDDEN pleasure, and so much SUSPENSE, you will be on the edge of your seat the whole way through. Dallas and Jane have secrets. These secrets have the potential to destroy everything, including the intense and passionate connection they share. This is a dangerous game that they are playing, and it could cost them everything they hold dear. HOTTEST MESS is the follow-up to Dirtiest Secret and it's even more intense, even more dark than the first. It keeps getting better and better, and I for one, am ALL IN for this sexy and sensual ride.

"I've always owned you."

Secrets have always been familiar territory, but at what cost? It's what is keeping them together...it's what has the potential to tear them apart.

I've never wanted to root so hard for a couple, then I do for Dallas and Jane. What they've been through, they deserve a little happiness, but I have a feeling that that's a long way off. So many ups and downs, in between so many twists and turns...you will barely catch your breath by the very end. HOTTEST MESS is the second installment of J. Kenner's hot and intense S.I.N. series. It is NOT a standalone and must be read after Dirtiest Secret. Jump on this sensual journey of lies and deception. Get sucked it...it will feel OH SO GOOD!

Emotional sexy scene - passionate embraces

You know how the music industry has a sophomore album slump? I’m starting to believe book series do as well. At least for the series I’ve been reading. I really, really enjoyed the first book in the S.I.N. series, Dirtiest Secret. It took a new take on a hero and I was absolutely intrigued by Dallas’ problems and by the dark and secret past he and his sister Jane shared.

I gotta say though, Hottest Mess let me down. Or, more accurately, Jane let me down.

I don’t recall having any real ill feelings towards Jane in the first book but she drove me batshit crazy in this one. Her emotions and sentiments were all over the place. One minute saying Dallas could do nothing to lose her but a few pages later she’s walking out on him. This was not an isolated event, she walks out on him a lot. Of course, never when he’s promising her orgasms. Which was another problem I had with her. She says the relationship is not all about sex, but really – in this book – it so totally was. It’s sex and more sex and more sex, then some fighting, her walking away, him following, more sex, some more sex, more fighting, rinse and repeat.

I couldn’t deal with Jane and it drove me nuts that Dallas would appease her.

HOWEVER, I’m still completely invested in the other, non-romance, aspect of this series. It hardly progressed in Hottest Mess, but the ending was very promising. I still loved the first book and I will absolutely read the third. Though, my fingers are crossed for less orgasms and more grown up talking.

Just another fabulous book by J. Kenner! I loved Hottest Mess...even more than the first book in the series! Jane and Dallas get better and better and they were fantastic in this book. The character development is amazing and the author truly sucks you in with this quite scandalous brother/sister/lover duo. I know that is not everyone's ideal for romance. It's not usually mine either, but wow I couldn't put it down. Obviously, this is not an incestuous relationship. Through a series of adoptions, they became siblings. See? Completely normal!

In this second book of the series, we delve deeper into the H and h's relationship (some of the hottest scenes I've read in a while), learn more about Deliverance (still somewhat of a mystery), and get some insight into the kidnapping (previous kidnapping and also deal with another one!) while trying to navigate through some pretty big twists and turns. Hottest Mess is an intriguing read and one that I will read time and time again. I can't wait for Sweetest Taboo...October is definitely not soon enough!

I would also love to see a Liam book!

I finished the book and literally said aloud "I'm half-crying." 4 obsessed, needy and dark stars. This is book two which means it picks up where the first book left off. Jane and Dallas have decided to be together but that decision brings about more problems than staying away form each other caused. The two have to figure out how to do this together while hiding their relationship for fear of losing their trust funds.

Dallas has secrets he hasn't shared with Jane which is a strain on both of them. Jane pushed, prods and pokes until she gets some of the secrets from Dallas which leads to tearing them apart while pushing them together. The two make each other bleed, lick each other's wounds and heal on repeat. It's a cycle that's fucked the fuck up but that's who they are and they are better together than they are apart.

This book has a massive cliffhanger because there's a book three. It made me scream, quite literally. My heart stopped, my blood was pounding and all I could think of was, "WHAT THE FUCK?!" As is expected from J. Kenner, the book holds you captive in its world with lots of movement, an emotional roller coaster and the promise of love and redemption.
