The entire INET team was accustomed to Slade’s antics to starve off his craziness from being stuck in the office at HQ. However, when Slade goes too far and ends up suspended while Knight is sent undercover without him, it’s no surprise to the team that Slade wouldn’t just stay home when his lover could need his backup.
Knight’s first stint undercover with INET was without his lover. Still, he had a job to do and it was a job that included a sexy little twink and not a hardship at all.
At least it wasn’t until his lover showed up.

While I really enjoyed this series, this last book took a turn which I hoped would not happen. The plot seemed weak, the story focused on the violence between Slade and Knight and added an M/M/M aspect that I didn't care for.

Really a 2.5 or less. Why?? Because violence wrapped up as foreplay no matter how it is portrayed, is not OK.
Also I am sure someone with broken and cracked ribs would not be able to get undressed and get into bed unless they were doped with powerful painkillers and even then it would be rreeeaaall slow. How he managed to sit in a vehicle the next day is beyond me. I know it is fiction but this is stretching things.

I loved the story up until the Domestic Violence. And does anything happen to change matters? no. it doesn't. No mention of counseling, no mention of getting help with his anger. nothing. it's there and the Slade takes the blame and it's over. NOT COOL

Well, that was an interesting turn of events. I liked it. I am looking forward to reading the next book - please release it in audio! This is a fun series, with violence, suspense, snark and sex. It works well for me.

Bought as part of audible escape package.

There are just things you can't unread. I wish i check reviews before venturing with this.
I am not much into MMM (though I don't mind a good story). This though? It started quite nice, really but got out of hand when Knight met Matt the chef. And to excuse said act as okay since they are undercover and sometimes it was part of the deal? na ah. no thank you. whats more disappointing is Slade's easy acceptance of such. At this point I didn't know wether to throw Slade or what.

Speaking of throwing... I just find it really unhealthy to have Slade and Knight result to brawling each time they have a disagreement. It might have been fun the first few times (as that was Slade's purpose), but if you are seriously hurting the other? that's just violence, and no matter how angry Knight might have been, it still didn't excuse him. especially if it was nothing new each time they fight, only difference, he went almost too far.

I like the INET series but this one was a bit off. Slade's tricks come off as over the top. I thought there would be some reason for Slade to ride in and save the mission thereby easing Fish's anger. Nope. This was the first of the series that really didn't have a solid plot. The law enforcement was secondary -- almost an after thought. And I agree with some of the other reviewers. When there is a solid couple I don't like to see them pulling a third in. If that's the way they are from the beginning, okay. If there are subsequent books I'll still read them but this one was a bit of a disappointment.

Knight turned from that guy in the previous books who easily got jealous of Slade possibly having had a romantic and/or sexual history with the other guys to the guy who borderline cheated on Slade and entertained the thought of bringing a third into their relationship without having had discussed it previously. Slade’s character development was also pretty disappointing. Their relationship was toxic and abusive. This was not a romance but an erotica (ngl, the scenes were hot) with some plot in between. I really disliked the abuse (which I think shouldn’t be normalized just because the MCs were men) and the forced ménage.

2 is too much... Disappointed is what I'm after finishing that book.
First 3 where good.
That one was like written form a different author.
Although i can see how explosive couple like Slade and Knight can add third for fun, i thought that they are portrayed too possessive and protective toward each other through the series, for me to accept that bad written explanation of a "love story".

Like I said... Disappointed...

The first three books in this series were great and wonderful couples especially knight and Slade .. But what the hell was this 4th book? Horrible, poorly developed and what the hell to add a 3rd person to the relationship? And the knight almost killed Slade, and I'm in it without resentment? No promises to change anything ... This book ruined my day and look that the series had everything to close perfectly ...

I love Brenda Cothern's books, however, I didn't like where the MC was going with the "cheating" aspect. I did not finish this book. Maybe at another time I will try again.

An interesting, potentially great, undercover mission that turned tawdry and got lost in personal drama.

Knight is sent out to go undercover WITHOUT Slade, who, for the first time ever, is indefinitely suspended without pay for committing one too many potentially harmful pranks within INET's HQ compound. Slade's punishment is way overdue and warranted; however, its timing isn't altogether helpful, nor is the fact that their boss Fish should have taken steps to punish and rectify the hazard that an out-of-control Slade would become when he is deliberately denied access to Knight. Slade and Knight both have an insane, uncanny awareness of each other, both so attuned to the other, both needing to satisfy the very alpha-like tendencies they each have in spades to protect and be near to one another. For all Knight's bravado, he feels the separation pangs just as greatly as Slade does, and Slade only does what every one of their INET team would have done when faced with the exact conditions forced upon Slade and Knight. Apologies, but Fish really should have known better, and found a way to preclude Slade's antics instead of waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop.

Anyway, this episode turned out to be the most ridiculous, far-fetched one yet. I never cared much for Slade's behavior, Fish knowingly pushing him past his tolerance levels, and Knight's dangerously erratic and volatile anger management blow-ups from the very beginning of the series. Yes, it's a huge part of all the hysterical drama and partial resolutions Knight's rages provide for Slade's pranks. However, when each time Slade gets bored, successfully manages to inflict property damage to his teammates, then gets Knight to lose his temper, rant and rage until he's with lust for his lover/partner, Fish allows the rage to build within Knight, at the same time fueling Slade's inner child to continue his unpunished behavior. This is textbook psychology and basic law of physics and psychology -- Knight is way too intelligent, and his talents, skills, and gifts unmanageable and unfamiliar to anyone to the point all these things, packed inside of one human male, are bound to overload his system in some incontrovertible way, and worst case scenario, at the cost of Knight's honor, pride, heart, soul, and even, his life. Slade is dangerously as close to Knight's level of volatile, except he has had more experience and assistance with learned control over events, circumstances, and surprises that are common occurrences for INET. Knight, on the other hand, isn't even in therapy, and hasn't been given tools to combat his demons. No easy answer -- Fish just hasn't had previous experience handling two anomalies like Slade and Knight, so mistakes are guaranteed. Because the two are so, so smart, having a serious, necessary brainstorming session with Slade and Knight, even accepting feedback from the rest of the team about cause/effect and consequences (clearly stated) for clearly designated infractions are way overdue for Slade especially, as well as all the others. I cannot fathom our country allowing such uncontrolled, undisciplined, yet beyond dangerously lethal agents running around creating the havoc this INET team manages to.

Lastly, the shared twinky third for Knight and Slade, who barely fits that definition (he's described as being 5'10" , so not little, just smaller than our "twins"), as well as having Slade and Knight look so much alike they can be mistaken for the other is so corny, and kind of gross. Makes the two sound very narcissistic, as.though only someone looking like them would be so perfect a fit. Yuck. SO very NOT hot. One and a half stars.

So this is one is hard. I read all the reviews before actually reading the book just to get everyone's opinion about the book. I don't normally agree to much with others but they were spot on with this one. I love the chemistry between Slade and Knight and they are seriously hot. Those two are explosive with each other and the anger management issues are just to funny for me to not laugh out loud about. But I think the ending was rushed although it was hot, I could have had more at the end of them. Like what happpens witht he three of them, how is working out. I would have loved to have had an epilogue of them down the road further than the time we got. But overall I still love reading about the I.N.E.T agents.

Crazy antics in and out of the bedroom!

2 become 3. Slade and Knight get a third in chef Matt. Slade is suspended for his antics and Knight goes on his first undercover op without Slade. There he meets Matt, a chef at the restaurant he is under. Slade breaks all the rules to follow his partner and lover on this op. When Slade is exposed he and Knight have a major blowout the could break them and the team apart. Matt becomes their third.

I love Slade and Knight, however I didn't feel as if this book packed as big of a punch as the previous instalments in the series. I also don't know how I feel about Matt.
There was the usual banter and humour, along with support from the rest of the team, but I feel that something was missing. Still, a very good book.

I.N.E.T 4

I don't know how to explain this installment into the series but I did enjoy the story. Slade is still a jokester but went a little too far this time. Knight is sent on a job with out Spade as backup and Slade is not happy. If you want to know more pick it up and give it a read.

Not my favorite

I loved the series and the previous three books were great however I didn’t like book number four, I really didn’t like that a third was added to a couple that established in previous books.

INET Series

Awesome series as are all of Brenda's books. A made and Knight are my favorite couple. Not sure about addition of Matty. Hope to see many more additions to this series.

This book was more kink than story. Not complaining, but this book made me realize how much I look forward to character development and interesting story ideas from Cothern.

Once again, Reins' narration is a nice addition to the story.
