Not as trashy as you might think, but very very 70s. The narrator likes to say "outasight" a lot and goes to therapy to resolve his issues with his Jewish mother. The gay characters are ridiculous flamers. One of the lead's daughters runs off to a commune to grow organic food and make films.
It was a little bit about being in publishing, a little bit about being Jewish in New York City, and a tiny bit about dating a woman 15 years older, but none of these things turned into much. The sex scenes were few and far between, but when they showed up they were VERY out there. I felt weird about my peanut butter jar after reading it.

Es una historia corta, pero me pareció refrescante en cierto sentido. Es la historia de un hombre que no sabía amar y que aprendió; todo lo que sucede es tan humano, tan cotidiano y a la vez tan de ficción que no se cómo explicarlo pero que te atrapa y te cautiva.
En la forma, la narrativa es amena, tanto, que sientes como si el protagonista estuviera frente a tí contándote su historia, y lo hace de una manera tan cercana, que es como si fuera tu amigo de toda la vida el que te está hablando; no es un personaje de esos para encumbrar... lleno de virtudes, al contrario, a veces es un pesado, pero no en el mal sentido.
En fin, que me gustó mucho a pesar de fue predecible en algunos aspectos (por ello no lo califiqué al máximo).

Es un libro el cual se me hizo cómodo leer. No hay que esperar una super trama desarrollada ni nada por el estilo, PERO, es una historia sencilla y agradable.
POSITIVO:
- Muy buen libro si te gusta el romance.
- Muestra el amor pero desde otra perspectiva.
- Sencillo, sin tanto problema para leer.
NEGATIVO:
- Es monótono (no es tan negativo, pero no tiene una historia super desarrollada. Funciona para bloqueos lectores, o luego de una lectura pesada).

I rarely read books in english if it is translated to Swedish. Since this book is not translated I read it in English.
I think the book is very ageist. As the title implies Six months is okay to have a relationship with an older woman, but if you want to start a family you should marry/live together with a woman your age.
