Kim Shaw has been writing all her life. As a child, she wrote mysteries with her older brother, but her interests quickly spread to a wide variety of characters faced with an assortment of challenges. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that her writing would one day touch thousands of readers. The most frequently asked question she gets is, "Was that character based on you?" She admits that her life is not nearly as fascinating as the lives of her characters!

She has two children, a husband and a crazy dog named Cocoa. They are a family who is always on the go and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. She has worked as a legal secretary for prominent New York City law firms and is currently a high school English teacher, a job which she loves. She is a volunteer with the National Council of Negro Women and the Girl Scouts of Washington Rock. In addition, she is part owner of her family's restaurant, Nana's, which specializes in Southern and Jamaican Cuisine.
