Excerpt from Corn From Olde Fieldes: An Anthology of English Poems From the XIV to the XVII Th Century; With Biographical Notes
The poems printed here are mainly chosen from those which have descended so plentifully upon us, yet threaten through neglect to disappear altogether. To recite, to extol, to contend for them is but the payment of a debt and it is in this spirit that the collection has been made. The texts are taken from the earliest editions avail able, but it has not been possible in all cases to preserve the original spelling.
