Reckless Obsession

Rate this book
When DCI Flood’s wife is murdered in a hit-and-run attack by a vengeful gang, his life is torn apart. The police fail to discover the perpetrators. Two years later, the investigation is relegated to a cold case. Flood becomes obsessed, spending all his spare time hunting his wife’s killers, alienating friends and family.

After witnessing another shocking murder, he is plunged into the menacing world of organised crime. His investigations unearth startling similarities to the cold case, which puts his life in danger.

The new stand-alone thriller from the author of Blazing Obsession.

‘Twists and turns fill every page. There is plenty of mystery to keep a reader enthralled. A well-plotted, pacy thriller.’ The Wishing Shelf.

'The author has a real talent for creating characters you can believe in and Andy Flood is one of his best.

Top-class plotting and a real feel for what modern policing is like.' The Bookbag.

After selling my business I decided to write to keep the brain churning. Become passionate about it now. Can't believe it took me so long. Especially since my mum was an avid Agatha Christie fan - she had every one of her books neatly stacked on the groaning shelves.
I've always been interested in crime. Nearly joined the police force after I left college.

Readers’ Comments
‘A good, solid thriller in many ways. The plot is cleverly put together and the protagonist is vulnerable and determined – easy for the reader to get behind. Plenty of pace and a little police procedure thrown in.’ Male reader, aged 45
‘A ton of shocks, twists and turns in this thriller. A sad, often lonely hero trying to discover who killed his wife. I loved the determination in the central character and how that is prominent all the way through the novel. It did get a little bogged down towards the middle, but the ending was gripping. Excellent work.’ Female reader, aged 69
‘A knowledgeable author who knows how to interlace that knowledge without overwhelming the reader with facts. Clever plot, real-feeling characters, and a fast-paced writing style. I have a feeling this author’s best book is yet to come. I will want to read it!’ Female reader, aged 39
‘Excellent mystery thriller. Good writing.’ Male reader, aged 29

To Sum It Up:
‘A fast-paced thriller that will grip you to the very last page. A FINALIST and highly recommended.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards

This is a cracking good crime thriller from Dai Henley and book two in the DCI Flood series. It starts off at a great pace and just keeps on delivering until the end. We have corruption, murder, drugs, torture and twists and turns. A sure fire winner and well done Dai Henley. An easy 5 stars from me. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy.

Not my usual read, but met the author (lovely man). Cracking yarn, absolute page turner. Not so much a who-dunnit as about justice and how the justice system can let down the victims. Did get a bit muddied in the middle with many characters and strands in the story. However, the end was really gripping.
