Rate this book
Excerpt from Pumps: Troubles and Remedies

The solution for many of the puzzling troubles with pumps which every engineer is liable to encounter will be found in this work There are also a number of unusual instances of repairs, which may prove of much value where pumps are seemingly broken down beyond use, and these special instances will often suggest other possibilities of the same sort.

Two chapters are given to the important matter of set ting the valves of duplex pumps, and much attention is given to this same subject throughout the book. It is believed that a careful perusal of these pages will give the reader a sufficient number of illustrations in the operation and repairs of pumps to handle any difficulty that may arise in the ordinary operation of a steam-pump plant.
