Aside from consistently trying to strengthen my literacy knowledge and instruction, I also strive to strengthen my math instruction. In the beginning of this text in the preface section, the authors mention, "If you ask educationalists and teachers whether numeracy intervention deserves equal attention with literacy intervention the overwhelming answer is 'Yes, it should.' (Wright, et al, 2006)." Literacy seems to take the forefront, yet math is just as important. This books provides helpful information and lesson ideas to support teachers who are concerned with early numeracy intervention for their students. Concepts such as place value, addition/subtraction, numeral identification, and more are described in the text, along with countless activities that support these concepts. I recommend this book to any teacher who might be struggling in reaching their strugglind students, or extending the learning for their higher students.
