This is how the end begins. In the thrilling conclusion of the LIFE OF THE DEAD series, the men and women who survived the initial days of the zombie apocalypse are faced with new challenges and epic adventures and every decision is the difference between life and death.
The Life of the Dead Series includes: Hell on Earth Road of the Damned The Ark I Kill the Dead Red Runs the River
A professional photographer, writer and fan of general weirdness (both real and imagined), Tony has traveled tens of thousands of miles seeking out everything from haunted locations, UFO crash sites and monsters like Bigfoot and the Mothman. In a previous life, he worked in the independent movie industry but he finds his current career much more exciting.
Tony's first writing memory involves penning a short story about taking a road trip with his best friend and his dog (two different creatures) to watch KoKo B Ware in a professional wrestling event in Pittsburgh. He wrote that epic saga while in the 3rd grade and it was all downhill from there. His first books were a series of o)eat travelogues but recently his zombie apocalypse series, "Life of the Dead" has been a bestseller online and grossed out readers all over the world. His ultimate goal in life is to be killed by a monster thought by most to be imaginary. Sasquatch, werewolves, chupacabras, he’s not picky. If that fails, he’d enjoy making a living as a full time writer. Which of those two scenarios is more likely is up to the readers to decide.
I wish I could give this series a 4.9 rating instead of 4, but that’s not a choice. 😃 my only complaints about Life of the Dead are editing errors and some grammar errors. Not much, but enough that I noticed. However, do not let that stop you from reading these books. I am a diehard Stephen King fan and Mr Urban writes very much like him. I love detail and really good character development and these books have both. I also love good survival type stories and these books satisfied that love very well. Highly recommend this series. Now I’m off to find more of his work!
It was a long and wide arc from the first book to here. The end. I was gripped and read the whole series one book after another. And the novelette. I just liked the characters. The story flowed back And forth, but kept me gripped. I can't think of better praise than, I enjoyed the books so much, they are in my Library. So in about a year I'll read them again.
The only other series I did that too was David Embleton and his Last Man Standing series.
Thanks Tony. Will keep an eye out for you in new publications. From the UK.
Omg what a read it took me a week to read every book in this series I couldn't put them down all the characters from beginning to end had me rooting for hating to no end caring for and want good for some and horrible demise for quite a few even some Who s action and personalities i despised came through when I leased expected them to every book in this series deserves 5 stars if you decide to read this series I can tell you you won't be bored or disappointed I can't wait to see what this my new favorite author has in store for us next
I really enjoyed this series. I can actually visualize the characters. Each with their own personality. You could hate Saw, Mitch and some of their followers, but they had likable qualities too. Grady, the prophet, and his gang searching for a Messiah and the atrocities they carried out in the name of God, sounds like it could definitely be possible at the world's end. I hated to see some of them die off-I liked Aben. It was a nice twist regarding Wem and Ramey...and our imagination can fill in where the story left off.
‘Red Runs the River’ is absorbing and a satisfying conclusion to the ‘Life of the Dead’ series. The surprise ending makes up for the weaknesses in the previous books. Kudos to the author, who treats his (non-zombie) animal characters with respect and affection. If Mr. Urban were to secure the services of a competent editor, he could become a master of the genre.
I’m finally finished with this series and can say I liked it a lot. The characters I found compelling as they were more down to home everyday people. To see who survived in the end was rewarding though taxing. In the end it was a compelling read. Great job author J.l. Perrigo author of Good Intentions
Okay so my timing to read tho really caused me some nightmares! I have been a fan of Apocalypse books for a long time and don’t get spooked. This book was wonderfully written. The end was definitely not something easily predicted which I fully appreciated. I would Love to see more added to this series!
Loved this series. Glad that in some ways we have a happy ending, but not before an emotional roller coaster ride. The character's have a lot of depth and even some of the badass characters end up with some likeable traits by the end. Would definitely like to see more books with Mead and wim.
5th Book of the series. The Apocalypse is real and appears to have no ending. I loved the way the series ties all the characters together as they fight the zombies together. Bummed about Abel. There is a similarity to The Waking Dead (The Governor’s form of entertainment.) Overall great read. I look forward to trying another book by the Author.
Liked the charactors alot but it took a minute. The first couple of books jumped back and forth between stories and trying to flesh out the charactors that it took me almost to book four to be able to remember them individually and their back stories. But once I did I really did enjoy the ride.
Great zombie series, great at writing action, great at writing from male perspective, just ok at female parts. Overall though, a great example of the genre. I had one complaint, regarding a dropped plot point regarding a son of a preacher man (trying to not spoil). All in all, not bad at all. 4 solid stars
Great story. The plot sometimes seems predictable but has enough quirky twists to keep you reading. It's actually more of a suprise when things turn out the way you expected. Loved the whole series!
The ending made me happy. I'll say, I was thinking halfway thru that R had actually survived. Lol annnnnnd I was right!!! But now I need a story for all their babies and meeting others and restarting civilization! Overall excellent book and series! I would read it again!
This series is a fine representation of the genre. Plenty of blood and guts to satisfy any zombie fan. It's well written and has a good flow. I finished all 5 in one sick day marathon and highly recommend them to anyone that likes their zombies dead.
These are my first reads from Tony Urban, but definitely not my last. I’m a firm believer that any character can and should be “killable”, and obviously so is Mr Urban! (Thank goodness) Love/hate with some of the deaths, but love/love the entire series.
I enjoyed this series very much, and this was a fine ending to it. I enjoyed the characters even though some of the ones I liked did not make it to the end. If you like a gory action filled zombie book you will enjoy this book in the series
It was a long road (and a time jump) to get here but it was all worth it. I was happy, I was sad and yes I swore from time to time but I finish this series content with a story well told.
This book series kept my attention during this virus outbreak throughout the world. No other book or series had been able to do that. I highly recommended this series from start to finish.
Non stop action, as Grady clashes with with Mead, Wim and allies, for an explosive conclusion, and some surprising plot twists. Fantastic narration from the melodious Matthew Crow, and a sample of his singing! I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I don’t know what else to say. This has been sitting on my kindle for months and finally decided it was time, just to be heartbroken within the first few chapters. Excellent story, must read to the very end.
Sad that this story has ended and sad about some of the way that it ended. If you're emotional like me then be prepared for some intensity!!! Well written with just enough gore to make it on the gross side and enough romance to even it out.
Great character development. Good plot points and twists. I felt like I was relaxing around a campfire trying to separate the boy from the bullshit and by the time I decided I didn't really care was at the end of the journe.
I've read the who series. I enjoyed them all. Very action packed. Kept me wanting more. I'll be looking for more books written by this author. I hope you enjoy these books as much as I have.
The final book in the series and an explosive end at that. I really enjoyed these book and am glad I picked them up. I will be following Tony urban from now on as one of my favourite authors.
Lots of action, a diverse set of characters that you will love and sometimes hate. I thoroughly enjoyed all five of the books. Bundy, Wim, Saw, Mead..Aben. Really takes your imagination on a journey!
It was a fun read that had plenty of action and likeable characters. I enjoyed the character development and the way they wove together throughout the series. Great job!
Thoroughly enjoyable read with all the gore, mayhem, and fighting that goes with a zombie apocalypse.... yet still a healthy dose of love, friendship, and even a HEA! GREAT job, Tony, and will be looking for another of your reads!
What an ending. Mostly satisfying, we follow the interconnected characters as they all come together one last time. They all won't make it. But, we know that. Wim and Aben are all time faves. 4.5 stars/
I'm sorry to see it all end. I could keep on reading them if Mr. Urban continued writing them. But....I'm thrilled! Plus, I guessed it right! And, that is VERY exciting! My heart is full. Thanks Tony Urban for making my day yet again!
