Spells That Bind #5

Inescapably Hellbound

Rate this book
You are familiar with the story of Hades and Persephone, right? Well, forget what you’ve heard. That is definitely not the way it happened. How do I know? I’m Persephone—one of them, anyway.

Let’s start from the beginning. Once, there was a fallen angel named Hades who claimed to be God of the Underworld. About two millennia ago, Aphrodite put a curse on him that can only be broken by finding the woman he’s destined to love—a woman named Persephone. I’m not the first Persephone Hades has come across, but I know I’m the one to end his curse. There’s only one thing standing in the way—Hades. He’s abducted countless women named Persephone, but I can’t even get him to kiss me!

All of that’s about to change. My plan to find my happily-ever-after with Hades is simple. I just need to seduce him, keep my mother from trying to kill him, and avoid being used by an ex-god of Olympus in a plot to take over the demon realm. What could go wrong?

If you are offended by profanity, you may want to skip this review. For that matter, you should probably skip this book entirely. I finished this book last night and I am still chuckling about it. Hades is the anti-hero you just have to love. I received an ARC of this book and I was so excited to read it because I've loved every other book in the series. Just the concept of turning Lucifer, and then Hades into lovable scamps floors me. The writing is engaging and filled with humorous observations and comments. Some of my favorites included these:

Persephone: I stood and crossed my arms in front of my chest, immediately realizing how childish I looked. Of course, I was committed to the pose by that point, so I continued.

Hades: I considered going to one of my friends for advice, but they were assholes. There was a good chance they’d intentionally give me bad advice to f*** with me. That would bother me more if I wouldn't do the same in their position.

Persephone and Hades discussing where in Hell to go furniture shopping:
“We have two IKEA's,” I replied.
“Those stores are popping up everywhere,” she said with a laugh.

I loved how the old gods were referred to as doddering idiots while Olympus was described as a shithole. (If our president can say it, why can't I?) I loved this book so much that if I didn't have a stack of ARCs waiting for my attention I would read it again right now.

Fallen Angel Hades had been cursed by Aphrodite two millennia ago and that curse can only be lifted when he finds the woman he is destined to love called Persephone. This witch called Persephone isn't the first he has come across but she knows she is going to be the one to end the curse - however after abducting many of the other women he has come across with her name Hades won't even kiss her which she is finding most irritating. So she has a plan to seduce him - all she needs to do is stop her mother from killing him and avoid being used by an ex-god from Olympus in their plan to take over the demon realm - simple.

I loved this story. The developing relationship between Hades and Persephone was charming and all the troubles they went through definitely added to the story. The heartbreak of the way the ex-gods plan was executed and then the joy as it was thwarted was full of drama and excitement. I was definitely hoping against hope that it would all turn out for them. Well written and very enjoyable.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

OH HOT HELL, Inescapably Hellbound was SOOOOOOOO MUCH better than I imagined. Sexier, darker, more fun with a heroine who is sassy and incredible while our hero Hades had me feeling SERIOUSLY HOT! These Spells That Bind novels are SCRUMPTIOUS. The way Cassandra Lawson seems to write flawlessly with eye and heart catching heroes and heroines that are wild, fun, smart and beautiful. These stories are chalk full of action, brilliance, magic, and seem to just grab my attention and won't let go.

Inescapably Hellbound really seemed to just delight me from the very start. I secretly crushed on Hades when I came across him in Undeniably Hellbound and when I realized HIS and Persephone's story was up next, I couldn't seem to contain my excitement and immediately started it the moment it hit my kindle and WOW! I have a new dark and delicious hero to drool, swoon, and sigh over and his name is Hades! I am not sure if he his and Persephone's story can be topped.

I FLOVED these two SO. HARD. They fit each other to perfection and watching the sparks fly between them was a sight to behold and I enjoyed the many twists, turns, danger and all the wickedness of this fascinating world. I give Inescapably Hellbound a MAGICAL AND DARK FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

This is the story of Hades and Persephone with a twist... Now that Hades has found his Persephone, he just doesn't know what to do with her....His spell has not yet been broken, but knows this is the right woman... Persephone is an outspoken little witch without a mean bone in her body... she has her sights set on Hades and no matter what she does...he just doesn't give in.
While these two are having their struggle....the folks on Olympus are planning a take over .. and it is not good. They are going to try anything to get Hades to help, even if it means going after his witch.
I found this to be my favorite book in this series... I do hope there are more.

Always love modern twists on mythology and this didn’t disappoint.
Hades was cursed and the only one to break it was Persephone. But which one? Will he ever find THE one and not have to kidnap her?

Persephone, a witch brought up sheltered from so much, finds that you can’t hide from fate.

Love this series and have been eagerly anticipating this book. Persephone is a smart and sassy witch. Hades is everything you thought he would be. The author puts an awesome twist on their love story and you won’t want to put this down!!!! As always, I can’t wait for the next book.

I received a free copy of this ebook by the author.

Once again Cassandra amazes me with her unique take on Greek Mythology, hell, witches, and fallen angels. This is Hades and Persephone's story. Aphrodite cursed Hades over two millennium ago so he would only find love and release with the right Persephone.

This book is witty, suspenseful story with LOL moments and a paranormal fans fantasy! An outstanding read!

Great story with Hades and company this story that spans time. This time she's a spunky witch who is giving Hades a run for his money. Funny cute and hot as hell this story once the curse is over focuses too much (in my opinion) on the chemistry and pleasure. There is a great story hidden in there unfortunately I ended up skimming through the scenes and missing parts. I like this author and have enjoyed the series but it's getting to be to steamy for my taste.

Hades and Persephone relationship was teased in the previous book so I was looking forward to this read.

Their book is what I hoped for, fun and sexy, Hades shows some willpower that's for sure.

The banter between the characters is engaging and entertaining. Persephone is full of character and Hades is a lovable rogue.

A great read for PNR fans.
