Everett Butcher is a successful vlogger with a secret. By day, he’s The Crock Cock, the internet’s hottest, gayest, and most naked chef. By night, he’s ConcealedandCuffed, a secret submissive who bends to the random whims that hit his inbox. To protect his identity and his career, Everett is careful to never show his face and to never play with the same guy twice. But Everett is tired of online submission. It only reminds him he has no one. When Puck1730 messages him, his world flips upside down.
Xavier Jeffries knows he’s playing a dangerous game, but when he discovered his big brother’s best friend’s secret submissive blog, his inner Dom reared his head and he knew he had to have him. He’s been in love with Everett for years and he feels like it’s now or never. But will Everett forgive him for the dubious way he initiated a relationship?
As the big, in person, reveal looms on the horizon, both men are on edge. Will their online playtime translate into real life chemistry and will Everett forgive Xavier when he discovers it was him the whole time?

EM Denning has more than twenty romance novels under her belt and has become an author you can rely on to bring you emotionally endearing, soft and fuzzy, stories. She is well known among her friends for her love of naps and sarcasm. She spends her free time reading as many romance novels as she can get her hands on.
This was not good - Xavier was no Dom and felt more of a switch. Perhaps the author should have stuck with a romance as they were nice characters, especially Ev but there was just crap and scenes thrown in that had no flow, relevance or chemistry. I struggled with this. Great cover but the rest ... hmmm not great at all
Just a ‘meh’. Nothing horrible about this book. I didn’t finish it feeling angry or frustrated. And I did finish it, so there is that. I just didn’t enjoy it. I had to skim most of the last 30%. It just seemed like a lot of nothing. Boy has crush. Boy get boy. The end. The brother drama seemed so strange but also, again, I didn’t care. I felt true apathy. I suspect Drew and Rory may meet in the future but I’m not sure if I will want to read that story.
I do want to give strong acknowledgment for the age/body type of the characters. I liked that they didn’t fit the big older Dom/skinny younger sub stereotypes. There isn’t anything wrong with that match-up and I do LOVE it, but I want to applaud this slightly unique take on the matter. That was my favorite aspect of the book. The dialogue and relationship scenes felt flat and unfulfilling. The characters were boring to me. The storyline seemed uninspired. I was also shocked to see on the writer’s acknowledgements at the back that she thanked Jill for the ‘sharp set of eyes’. Um, Jill needs to be fired. I found maybe 6 or 7 typos, so there was likely 20 bc that’s not my thing I can usually ignore it. If I notice, then it’s bad.
If you like twists on played out tropes, if you want tooth-aching sweetness, if you want an easy-peasy read, then this may be your cup-o-tea.
Cute and interesting storyline, but was lacking something... Not sure what it was, but something about the writing style kept me separate from the characters, so I never really engaged. I haven't read the others in the series and wouldn't go back for the first two, but I might still continue with book 4, as I am still interested in Andrews story.
Also, if you are looking for BDSM you may be disappointed, it was very very light and fluffy.
3,8 🌟 Same rating as the first two# This one really took some perseverance. I needed time to get into the guys although they were likeable enough 🤔 Halfway it turned 'round for me and then I got into it 🫶🏻
It started out really great. I was excited to be hearing Everett's story, and the fact that he was matched up with his best friend's little brother had me practically drooling with the forbiddenness.
However, I had a little bit of trouble pin-pointing their dom/sub relationship. I know that those types of relationships aren't black and white, but at least it wasn't a very strong dom/sub relationship, and not something that took up all of their sexual encounters. Sometimes it even seemed liked Everett was the one in charge.
I didn't feel the same connection with these characters as I did with the pairs from What He Needs and What He Craves, and the characters didn't feel as deep in this one.
I did, however, finish it in two sittings (because of sleep), so I enjoyed it, I just didn't love it.
Since when did 28 become over the hill.. I ignored the references to age in the first 2 books but the author seems to be fixated on age and that anything older than 30 shouldn't be pursuing the BDSM lifestyle, going out dancing or looking for love... I really love the characters and the stories but the author has totally turned this over 40 reader off with the constant references to age and being too old.
I'm vibrating with happiness from reading this book.
I pretty much fell in love with Everett in book one. There was just something about him that spoke to me. I waited, rather impatiently, for this book to be ready for publication. I knew right away that Everett's story was going to be something special and I was so right.
Xavier is just *sigh* he is everything. So sweet, so perfect, so protective and careful with the person who needs it the most.
Brother's Best Friend books are always fun. You never know exactly how they're going to go. Who's going to make the first move, the brother or the best friend. How is the other brother gong to respond? It's the drama I love, I won't hide that. What He Hides hits the points of the trope perfectly at every turn. Not that I had any doubts, by now I'm convinced EM Denning was born to write, she's just that good.
Everett is our resident submissive who run a secret submissive blog, very nice, and hot.
Xavier is a recent culinary school graduate, just moved to town to live with his brother and find a job. I love the small little overlap with book two. Seeing old favorites are my favorite. Even though we get just a glimpse of a previous character both Everett and Xavier mention the others a few times, which makes me all happy.
As anxiously as I've waited for this book I was nervous as well. I knew it was going to be good, but that's what anxiety does to you, it makes you think weird things. E and X though, they helped so much. Their love was sweet and perfect and easy, so easy.
Even though the two are almost ten years apart in age, even though Xavier seems to be a little bit too young to be a perfect Dom for sweet, vulnerable Everett, they fit together so well. When two characters can just slide into a relationship so seamlessly and make it believable for the reader you know you have a great book and author on your hands.
The hotness level on this book is off the charts. There's one scene in particular that happens on the coffee table (no spoilers) that I love. Scenes that require a whole lot of trust and commitment are my favorite to read. As it takes a hell of a lot of skill from the author to make the characters seem real, for them to express just how deep the connection runs between the characters so that the reader can fully immerse themselves in what is happening on the page. I wouldn't be able to read BDSM without those types of character connections, EM Denning does it beautifully.
What He Hides is my favorite book in the Desires series so far. I have no doubt it'll stay my favorite, but I have an idea of what book four is going to be around and I am so excited.
I am absolutely loving the Desires series and What He Hides has firmly cemented EM Denning as an auto-buy author for me now. Everett and Xavier's story was hot and yummy from the start but damn it was oh so sweet as well. I thought the chemistry between them was off the charts. I've loved Everett from the very start of this series and couldn't wait to see his story. He's been on his own for so long, he just wants to be wanted and loved. And boy do those feelings and emotions jump straight off the page and hit you in the feels. Xavier is totally the guy to give that and a lot more to Everett. He maybe young but Xavier is confident in both himself and his sexual desires. He has had a crush on Everett his big brother's best friend since he was fourteen but Everett never thought about him like that until he moves in with Andrew. Xavier quickly discovers Everett's secrets and realises that this might be his chance with the only man he's ever loved and he can be everything that Everett wants and needs. I loved how their relationship played out. It was sweet, adorable and 100% believable. I liked how they played with a d/s relationship how it suited them and their story didn't follow a lot bdsm clichés that I've read elsewhere. I do love stories when crushes turn to love. Highly recommend this series. I'm really intrigued by the next book in the series as I'm not totally sure I heart one of the MCs right now but I have total faith that EM will make me fall in love with him by the end of chapter one in book four.
I really enjoyed this book, it's my favorite of the series so far. I adored both Everett and Xavier, separately and together, and I especially related to Everett and his preference for being at home. It was *so nice* to come across a book with a D/s relationship where the Dom isn't some huge hulking older man who is perfect at BDSM.
But what I liked most was that the two MCs just connected and worked so well together. There are two different obstacles they face that in nearly any other book would lead to All The Drama. I was particularly worried about the situation with Andrew and thought it might drive them apart. Instead, they accepted what was happening and talked and were there for each other. Maybe some people find that boring but I LOVE when a new couple fights for each other instead of with each other, and deals with outside conflicts together.
I have to say, I saw where some reviewers were complaining about the BDSM in this book, saying things like Xavier isn't a real Dom, or that it wasn't real BDSM, or whatever. I respectfully disagree. Everett submits to Xavier, there are many situations where they engage in a power exchange, and that is so clearly D/s. Just because this isn't full of whips and chains and just because they are also boyfriends, not just D/s, does not mean this isn't part of BDSM. It can be sweet and loving and sexy and still be a power exchange. That should go without saying.
I hope there is more to come. Maybe an Andrew book, or maybe Rory and Nick find a third. Maybe Andrew is that third??
I loved all the new elements What He Hides brings to the Desires series: – brother’s best friend, online submissiveness, naked cooking, two twinks, murphy bed sex dungeon!
Evert and Xavier’s story was sweet and spot on for who they are. Xavier is a chef at Steve’s club, from What He Craves, and has secretly been in love with his older brother’s best friend, Xavier. Xavier is also a chef and has an online cooking show, The Crock Cock, as well as a secret online submissive blog, ConcealedandCuffed, that he started as a safe space for self-expression after being assaulted and where he accepts requests from doms. Evert knows about Xavier’s secret life and submits a request that blows Xavier’s mind and leaves him curious as to who Puck1730 really is. He joins Xavier on his cooking show, and the two have such great chemistry and so much fun that both can’t help but wonder if there is a spark between them.
Once they realise that they have real life chemistry AND they meet in person, they have a chance to see if what they feel is just sexual or if they can make a real connection and relationship.
What He Hides is a lighter story than the previous two instalments in the series, but it still has its heavy moments—when Xavier confesses why he doesn’t go out much anymore, Drew finds out that his best friend and brother are in a relationship AND both are heavily into kink and makes a confession of his own. These moments don’t deter Evert and Xavier, but rather ensure that they are drawn even closer.
I enjoyed the fun and lighter qualities of the books and the relationship, and I found Evert and Xavier to be a cute couple!
I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't the same story told yet again. It wasn't stereotypical and it wasn't "by the book". Yeah we get hung up on what we consider the roles to be and sometimes forget that BDSM is actually different for everyone. We need to remember that and this book is a great example of that. Remove your preconceived notions and just enjoy this story. Ev is a quirky Sub and Xavier is the unlikely Dom. But only because people limit how they choose to see people. I enjoyed this story because it stepped outside the box. It was fun to read and fun to see how they worked their dynamic out even with family and friend struggles. I enjoy books that aren't cookie cutter. And while I know some aspects are the same as other BDSM books but there is a lot of overlapping themes in this genre so you never fully get away from those but I enjoyed the fact that this was a D/S flipped a little on it's head. It was hot and it was sweet. And it warmed my kinky little heart and made me very excited about what comes next!
Everett cooks naked, he does wears an apron, because, bacon. He is an internet star with his own cooking vlog. He also stars in another less well known blog as a submissive who takes orders from anonymous Doms . As much as he loves what he does, it's just not quite enough. He really wants a Dom of his own, but because of issues in his past, he very seldom leaves his apartment. He knows he'll never find what he needs.
His best friend Andrew’s brother Xavier, has just finished culinary school. He comes to stay with his brother. Xavier has known since he was fourteen that Everett was a submissive. He took that knowledge and acquired everything he needed to know to make Everett his. Perfecting his techniques so that one day he would be everything Everett needs.
This is another beautiful, hot, story about imperfect men. Their interactions become a flawless give and take on their way to forever. Very nicely done.
So I've been kinda waiting on Everetts's book since we met him back in book 1, it was DEFINITELY worth the wait! E.M has this way with her writing, that just makes the whole book come to life. I love that I can picture Ev and Xavier along with everything/everyone else...it's almost like watching a movie in your head while reading....if that makes sense. Xavier immediately became one of my favorites, I loved everything about him...especially how he loved Everett. I thought it was cute as all get out, that he harbored a crush on him for so long. Together Ev and X are two equal parts of a whole, each one bring something different but needed to the relationship. I was really upset with the Andrew situation, but I couldn't help but feel for him. I'm really hoping that he gets a story... maybe as part of Rory and Nick?? Hint, hint 😉. I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite of the series.
🔥🔥 Flamin Hot.. This absolutely beautiful and fantastic. I loved the characters so much, Andrew well I'm not sure about him, a paddling for might have done him some good. This book fantastic from start and finish and I loved the ending. I'm a big fan of this series it just gets better and better for this author. I cant wait to see whats next for the series. Everett at 28 years was known as ConsealedAndCuffs on his vlog he craved a Dom telling him what to do for his viewers, but he wanted more. Having also another vlog for his naked cooking, well almost naked. lol Xavier 21 yrs was Everett's best friend, Andrew's younger brother. Seeing Everett having bondage cuffs on him he was over the moon. A mystery message appears on Everett's private blog had him heating up from his "Master" from Puck1730..
This series just gets better and better. I adored Ev and X. So so much. The connection they had kept off the page every time they interacted. The ease with which Ev accepted Xavier as his Dom and boyfriend was just lovely.
The steam level here was off the charts hot. These two were smokin’ together. Goodness. In between all the heat, a connection was forged even deeper than years of knowing one another on the surface. It was just awesome to read these two.
My only blight here was Xavier’s brother, Andrew, who is the MC of the next book. He really, really came off as unlikable in this book. I understand he had some harbored feelings, but he was downright mean and I didn’t like it at all. I’m hoping I can look past that and read the next book as unbiased as possible.
Overall, I loved this book. Such a strong addition to the series.
Everett is a man who has buried his true submissive feelings since a trauma he suffered. Unable to give his trust Everett finds an unorthodox way to attempt to sate his desires. Xavier has returned to live with his brother after finishing culinary school and to hopefully kick start his career. He goes with his brother to visit his best friend Everett, and realises the feelings he felt towards him as a teenager are still there. Discovering that Xavier is a dominant throws a spanner into Everett's life as he felt an instant attraction to the younger man. Their journey is not an easy one with some unforseen difficulties and it's whether they can make it work. A fantastic page turning read that draws you in.
Just wow! Everett and Xavier are so sweet and amazing. I don't even know what to say. This book is the sweetest D/s book I have ever read. Everett was looking for that one guy that would fulfill his needs as a Dom and Xavier was looking for that one man that would submit beautifully and artfully. I just loved the adventure of it all. This series allows us, as readers, to see into a world of kink that seems naughty but turns out to offer you us insight. Thank you, E.M. Denning for allowing us the opportunity to pick your brain. I can't say anything bad about this book or this series. I have loved every moment of growth these men have had.
This third book of the Desires series was my favorite of the series so far. It's both sweet and bitter as the love unfolds between the Dominant and submissive, a best friend's brother story, and I enjoyed it a lot. The character development in this book was better than the first two books, which I had been hoping for, and so, I feel that the full 4 star rating is deserved this time even though it still needed better editing like the other books because the grammatical errors were distracting. Anyway, now I'm really curious what the last book of the series is going to be like, since even the tiny bit of the blurb I spotted made me hopeful that it will be just as good as this one was.
Oh boy....This one I think is my favourite....Everett and Xavier were just perfect together......They way they got together was sweet...A bit strange maybe...I thought Everett was gonna freak out when he found out who his online Dom was......Xavier treated Everett perfectly...Everett broke my heart a couple of times because of his past...I hated it when he felt he couldn't help X.....Andrew really annoyed me for a while but I guess he had his reasons for being like he was...A great addition to a series which started off amazing and just keeps getting better x
E.M. is a go to author for me. I have loved this series hard, with each book being my favorite, lol. Everett and Xavier are so hot but utterly sweet together. An online chef who cooks in nothing but an apron but who also has an online submissive blog, Everett is looking for that one master who will complete him. Enter Xavier, almost 10 years younger and a up and becoming Dom. And he's also Andrew's little brother. The connection is instant and so fulfilling. There is some angst for poor Andrew but it works itself out. This is a wonderful read!
This is a nice sweet read. Everett and Xavier are such a cute couple, despite a several year age difference they are perfect for each other. Neither really planned for this to happen, but when the sparks fly and the chemistry is that explosive you grab on and enjoy the ride. They are both into the scene but neither is hard core which I like. All three books have so far shown different levels of involvement in the bdsm lifestyle and I like that it shows that there is no 'one' way to do things. Ev and X have ups and downs but they find out that together they can handle anything.
3 stars for me. This book was just ok for me. I liked the first two books better. I was a little confused with the dynamics between Ev & X. At times I couldn't tell who the Dom or Sub. Ev seemed to act like the Dom. I will attribute this fact considering both MCs were somewhat inexperienced and still finding their footing with one another. There were many editing issues as well. At times it felt as if this book was written by a different author. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed the characters in this series and will read book 4 when released.
Everett is an online sub, obeying the orders of faceless Doms. But it's only a temporary fix, he needs a real life connection to fill his true desires.
Xavier is the younger brother of Everett' s Best friend. He has grown up and as he gets closer to Everett, a connection grows. Especially when it's discovered that Xavier is a Dom and has been unknowingly following Everett's online sub vlog.
Now they have a chance at fulfilment and love, as soon as they overcome some obstacles of course. Great book - sweet, sexy and funny. Definitely recommend this book.
Ok I freakin love this series and Ev was my favorite character but not after this story.... I really don’t like him, I feel like he was kinda selfish to his friend and brushed off Andrew like his feelings didn’t matter. Even if he didn’t feel the same for Andrew he could have at least acknowledge his feelings. I love X and Ev as a couple.... I love their history it was a great read. I’m in love with this entire series!!!!!
This is the 3rd book I've read in this series. Such a great story line, but it was ruined for me ( just like the first 2) because of bad editing. This frustrates me because there is so much potential! I would of rated these books 5 stars if it wasn't for the many grammatical errors. If these books were to be re-edited, I would so purchase them. I have hope that this will happen, and if there are any more books in this series they will be edited better.
