Aislin Flanery yearns to connect with her momma and learn about her father. That's it... But destiny will not be denied. Traveling to Scotland, following in her mother's footsteps, she finds herself thrust into a world where myths are real. Each step closer to the past pulls her deeper into an epic battle between good and evil. Kai, an ancient guardian of the Celtic Gods, only wants to give his friend some peace. Her soul calls to him. When she disappears, he is ready to call his brothers to war. With the help of a grove of Druids, he fights to find her. Enemies from the past are resurfacing. The fight for our world begins in this series starter that combines the myths of Neil Gaiman with the magic of The Dark Hunters and the Fever world. "If you are looking for a new series that will keep you enthralled and waiting impatiently for the next book to be released, then 'Celtic Fire' should be added to your reading list!"
A few chapters in I knew this was gonna be a great read. The fully encompassing story that had so many layers was brilliant delivered. So much actions, and emotion and 'FEELS' oh lord the feels were killer but good killers.
I loved the mix of mythology and druids and dragons it was...... Beautifully conceived and carried out. The world created was a believable one and its charachters were... oh so Well written, fully developed and Likable.
About halfway in there are massive triggers, by way of sexual torture and assault but be brave, our wonderful h with her H and her 'boys' overcome this and a gut wrentching passing of a friend ( MAJOR FEELS ) by banding together to defeat the enemy.
I adored this book, I will defiantly reading the second when it is released.
Celtic Fire isn't a book that I would normally read, but I am so, so glad I read this book! Aislin is a strong woman that has suffered the loss of her mother at a young age. She is now an adult and her Aunt Joy gives her a wooden box from her mom. Aunt Joy also gives her a trip to Scotland so she can have an adventure and man what an adventure it is. When she gets to Scotland, she's hoping to meet her father. She never thought she'd meet her soulmate/her destiny, Kai. This book will suck you in from the very beginning. Ms. Lawrence has written a beautiful, emotional book that I would recommend to everyone. I can't wait to read more from this new author. I know Emma and Jason's story is going to be worth the wait.
I’m the type of reader that likes to connect with characters, so when I found out the MC was 25 (just like me) I got super pumped. HOWEVER, I feel like I lost brain cells reading this book. I hate giving negative reviews, but the lack of development and layers to the MCs personality was so apparent. She was SO immature, felt the need to call her “BFF” every 2 seconds and ended every sentence with an exclamation point. I promise you, as a fellow 25 year old, we do not do this.
Not to mention, she goes from this bubbly over-dramatic teenage-like personality, to getting captured in the middle of the night by yet another character without development, background, etc, and then almost r*aped??? Like what??? I had to go back to make sure this wasn’t a dream plot and it was actually happening because THERE WAS NO LEAD UP OR WARNING OR ANY KIND OF “oh there’s this man that’s evil and actually after her”. Just this random dude following her around the whole book with a mysterious name. Like what??
Also as for the Male MC - still have no clue who he is. Yes, there’s his backstory added in, and the buildup of the mystery singer was a nice touch. When they actually meet though, she just accepts him without any attempt to truly know him. It’s insta love, which some people are into, but I can’t say I’m a fan.
Again, this might be personal preference, but I enjoy my MCs with character buildup and maybe some layers to a personality. She honestly made me embarrassed for people my age. I swear we don’t act like that.
ANYWAY... take my review with a grain of salt - you might be okay with this type of plot. I however, envisioned slamming my head into a wall on more than one occasion.

This novel has it all!!! True love, heartache, adventure, passion, danger, the Genesis of Pantheons!!! I could not put it down!!! The characters and plot are so well written that you are thoroughly invested in her fantasy world and dying to know what next?!!
On her 25th birthday Aislin is gifted a trip by her mother’s best friend. She is sent on a discovery trip to retrace the magic of Scotland, her decease mother talked about , and find out who her father was. Her mother left her a box full of journals that tells a fairytale of their love. Included is a bracelet that unbeknownst to Aislin isn’t what it seems. Aislin follows her mother’s journal to each destination. As she travels to the places her mother went all those years ago, she leaves with the feeling she’s being watched. Some who watch her are good, but evil isn’t far behind. There is a mysterious group of men whom Aislin meets and Kai the guardian who seems to sing to her soul. Her journey becomes a race to survive and secrets are learned. None is what it seems.
I really liked the Character of Aislin and her beautiful outlook on life. Her relationship with her mother reminds me of my relationship with my own. I kind of felt like I was experiencing this life altering trip as well. There were parts of the book my heart broke for her. It was well written and the details of how Aislin sees Scotland makes you feel wishful. It’s a self discovery of her finding her Heritage, her magic she holds and the other half of her soul. I highly recommend this book and I’m over the moon it’s a complete series. If you like Mythology, dragons and magic with a great love story mixed in then I definitely buy this book. This is my second series I’ve read from the author and I’m hooked. 🐉 🥀✨🔥🔥
This is my first book by this author. Well, there's a lot going on in this book. There's an evil grandmother, a mom who died of cancer, a living grandfather, an awesome best friend, and our main character Aislin. Aislin lives in New Orleans, but has roots in Scotland. She gets a chance of a lifetime when she gets gifted a trip to Scotland. She wants to find out any information she can regarding her father. Her mom never said anything about him, so Aislin doesn't even know his name. Right before she embarks on her trip, Aislin's grandfather gives her her mom's diary, which can help her find her father. She carries on to Scotland, but has no clue what awaits her. She meets a few strange characters, which as you go further along in the book, you will realize that "strange" is putting it mildly. This book has a HEA,.and I look forward to reading more in this series. The mIn problem I had with this book is after **SPOILER ALERT** Aislin gets kidnapped, the whole style of writing changes. It feels like a whole different author wrote the chapter/chapters that dealt with the entire kidnapping sequence. The vibe was off, and that entire sequence was very off-putting. Once Aislin was rescued, the vibe of the book changed, and it flow came back. Not sure what happened, but it felt disjointed. If it wasn't for that, I would've easily given this book 4 stars.
I reviewed this book for Kylie's Fiction Addiction.
Generously rounding up from 2 & 1/2 stars. (***Warning there are a few spoilers in this review that I don't feel like hiding***) This was an ok read, it wasn't memorable & definitely didn't inspire me to want to read the rest of the series. There were some things that just didn't make sense, some things that didn't work for the plot, and some issues with the main characters that didn't work well. Aislin was ok, though she sort of flip-flopped around a lot on her personality. Kai was ok, nothing spectacular, or memorable. The time line was moved along in a short fashion, when in reality, it should have taken longer (like her getting over the horrible abuse while being captive), to think after a few weeks, she's ready to have physical relations with Kai? Nope, not believable at all, most physically brutalized women take year(s) to get back to that point. My biggest gripe, killing off her father at the end, just because he wanted to be with his dead mate, give me a break, what a way to leave the daughter you just found out about so recently. It was abrupt & jarring for the story in general, especially doing so during her bonding ceremony with Kai, how selfish can the jerk be. I could see if he had died in battle or whatever other noble cause, but this way, nope, ruined the whole story for me. I was so pissed off, if it had been a paperback instead of my iPad, I'd have thrown it across the room. This does have a HEA for the couple, and the next book is about her best friend, so there's not a "cliff-hanger" for the couple, only the plot in general. I definitely don't recommend this book, as it left me mad & wishing I could get my time back.
This is the first book that I’ve read by this author but it won’t be the last one. This is Book 1 in the Guardian series. Aislin is having a birthday and Her Ant Joy has given her a box from her mother, who had passed away from cancer. She also received tickets to Scotland and a bottle of Scotch. She was going to be gone for 2 weeks and would be following the exact itinerary that her mother had gone on years ago. There is a journal in the box that her mother had written while on the trip. She learns about her father and strange things that happened to her mother. What an exciting adventure this book led us on. We have Druids (very hot ones, too), dragons and of course, we always have bad guys getting involved. Then did I happen to mention the really hot guys? There must be something in the water in Scotland because we had bunches of hot guys in this story. Aislin meets Kai who soon becomes more than just a hot singer. Aislin is strong at heart and grows so much more in this story. Just do one thing and grab a box of Kleenex before you start reading because you will need them. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next book in the series! I voluntarily chose to read and review this book that I received from the author.
It's Aislin's birthday! Aunt Joy gives her a ticket to Scotland and a bottle of whiskey. Then Aunt Joy gives Aislin a box that Aislin's mother left her when she passed away with cancer. In the box was a letter written to Aislin. A journal of her mother's journey to Scotland meeting her dad. A bracelet with red stones that looks like a distant galaxies and a trinket that resembles a dragon's head. Once Aislin puts on the bracelet, the stones begin to shimmer from the lights on the table candles on the table. Aislin has to read the journal and follow her mother's itenary exactly and secretly hopes to find her daddy. She feels so close to her mother now. Emma is Aislin's best friend and soul sister. She is sassy and fiesty. Aislin embarks on her journey to Scotland. At a pub where her mother once visited, she is befriended by a group of hot, muscled tattooed men. The mysterious singer, Kai seems to be singing to her but he always disappears and she doesn't get to see his face. As the story unfolds you meet Druids, dragons and the evil Order. A journey of amazing characters and a well written story. I would recommend this book.
I receive this book for honest review by the author. This is the first time I read anything from this author. So glad she gave me the opportunity to read this book. What a delight and joyful it was. I'm so hooked on this book. Aislin lost her mom and now is looking for her father. She takes trip, adventure to Scotland to find her father with a wooden box that belong to her mother. She meets a guy name Kai. She would of never thought he would be the one for her. Love would be in anyplace. You would never now until its in front of your face. This story was well written, it was well put together, the characters are just perfect. Like the point that there a strong female roll. I was hooked by the first chapter. Every page, Every chapter had me pulled in. It was like I myself was right in the book cuz the lost of a mother is hard to deal with. I could imagine what she was feeling. Then finding somebody who would be your soulmate. This book had all type of emotion. Everything in one book. What a great story! I highly recommend everybody get this book. Can't wait for book 2. 💖💖💖
I want my own guardians and my own Dragon I have always been a fan of Scottish lore - and the blend of Fae and Dragon mythology within Celtic Fire was such a treat Aislin, our smart and a bit cocky heroine, lost her mother as a child and has never known her father. When her aunt gifts her a trip to Scottland for her birthday along with a package from her deceased mother - she embarks on a journey in search of answers - and does she find them and a whole lot more. Lawrence has crafted a rich and detailed world with such wonderfully creative and vivid characters. This is a first in series so it is a bit slow at times as the author provides us with background stories and important details and let us not forget the breadcrumb trails we are left for future plot lines This ends on a cliffhanger so be prepared and no kindle tossing - want to be able to read book two
The premise for this story is SO great! I loved the twists and turns of it and how the plot played out. Unfortunately, the way it was written made for a difficult read. Multiple POV shifts from one paragraph to another, with no warning, made a few scenes almost unreadable. Also, there were a lot of minute details that were poorly researched which took my concentration away from the story. For example, The Pogues, Flogging Molly, and Galway Girl are Irish, not Scottish. The whiskey made in Scotland is called Scotch, not Scottish whiskey. It is a Scottish accent; the people are Scots, and have clan tartans, not plaids. There are other examples, but I digress. These small mistakes detract from an otherwise amazing story for a reader like me. However, all things considered, I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it because it was just that good.
Wow! This was an awesome read, I did not want to put it down.
Aislin is a Southern Belle with a Scottish Heritage. A quest to Scotland to relive her mothers footsteps and find her father, is a journey fraught danger, pain but also a love that can heal and friendship that can form a family.
Aislin is thrust into a world of magic and mythology. If you love to read romance and enjoy mythology this book is a must read.
Kai, a guardian for Danu and Morrigan is sooo sexy. S Lawrence knows how to write a Hero. Wait for the shower scene it is hot and steamy!
Trigger warnings are needed as there are torture and rape scenes.
I was sent this ARC by the author in exchange for a spoiler free honest review.
I am not much into present-day story lines However I do love the Celtics, old Scotland, medieval romance with druids magic etc... this is a book I couldn't put down. I was drawn into the story quickly and found myself emotional.... crying and chuckling.... just a totally great read.. I got the second and third book five chapters in...lol. . I plan on following the author...sometimes well a lot of times it is challenging to find THAT book that you can just fall into with the story line, characters, the place and time.... ...this is one of those. Books... glad I chanced it.
I found this book really interesting. Mythology has always fascinated me and this story feels right. Ainsley is a southern girl who lost her mother to cancer. Never knew her father, but knew they met in Ireland. Her grandparents are kind of strange, at least the grandmother. Her best friend Emma has been her saving grace forever. Her mother's best friend Joy, gives her a trip to Ireland for her birthday, and thus her life truly begins.
There are grammatical errors in the book, but that didn't distract from the story. I like the characters. You should enjoy this as much as I did.
This was a very rough read. Initially, it was interesting but mundane. Then BAM sudden and whiplash inducing world building with goddesses, druids, and dragons. It didn’t flow. The part that was rough was the pretty graphic sexual torture that then her “mate” replicated. The acts and descriptions were the same, this is days after she was tortured. I was triggered by it. Finally, the sex scenes bleh. She talks about her wet he’s made her parties. A page later (same scene, different perspective) he’s blown away by her lack of underwear under her leggings. I was 94% through the book and quit it. I’ve never, ever quit a book that far in.
If you like in depth mythology and a roller coaster emotional journey then this might be for you. Let me explain my four stars. I loved her descriptions which really gave you a full, clear picture of the countries she is in. I loved her journey, following her mother's journal. I loved the initial chemistry between her and Kia. I loved the multi character POV. I loved the deep basis in myths and the detailed back story I did find some scenes hard and our heroines emotional roller coaster hard to follow.
Well woven and detailed characters and storyline. I really appreciated the care that went into developing the mythology, it was not just glossed over but worked intricately with the story. There were a lot of deep emotional moments that I enjoyed as well. The kidnapping scenes were a bit jarring and did change the tone of the story while you were reading them but I felt ultimately worked well to really bring the antagonists into focus. Overall, it was a great landscape of emotion and plot. I have already loaded the next book into my Kindle.
Aislyn lost her mother when she was just a little girl. Fifteen years after her death, her aunt Joy gives Aislyn a gift: a box with a bracelet and her mother's journal. What Aislyn discovers within will forever alter her world.
Riveting! Fast paced and complex, this story races at high speed to its conclusion. The highs and the lows, love, betrayal and fate all entwined to create an amazing story! If you love fantasy, stories of the old gods, and supernatural entities, then I recommend you read this book!
I was not a fan. (**Spoilers**) A few facts/events ruined it for me and that fact that the story was very herkie jerky. The aunt encouraging a young lady to venture on her own to a different country to have an adventure and her best friend encouraging her to go on her own to go to a bar and try and get some action cut to her being tortured and within a week falling in love and becoming best friends with 6 druids enough where she is kissing them each day to say hello. Then to call her dad who she just met, daddy. I was just thrown all over the place and didn't enjoy it.
I loved the whole story line of book. It dealt with some tough real life emotions and some beautifully written friendships. It is not a book that I would rush through because of the characters and their role in the plot. But it flowed well and was easy to read. I truly didn't want to put it down. I can't wait for Emma's story and will certainly be reading more of this author as she releases additional novels. You won't be disappointed with this book purchase.
I really liked the story, and the characters. The backdrop of Scotland made me want to return to Scotland ( I was there once with a friend during college), and I could really picture the places Aislin visits. This book is not a quick read, but well developed. I adored Aislin's boys and how she finds her roots. I didn't care for the detailed description of Aislin's abduction, for me, it was a little too much, but the story was still good and worth the time.
I was skeptical at first to read this book but I am so happy I did. The storylines are amazing and really take you there. I do worn, this book is not for the faint of hearts. You'll laugh, cry, worry and love with the characters. Some grammatical errors but nothing major. It was a very well thought out wonderful book and I look forward to the other ones.
It took me a while to get into this because since I've never delved into celtic mythology but once aside from the informational parts and struggling through some of the thicker Scottish speak it was so good! I love aislin and Kai together they are so adorable! And I have high hopes of Jason and Emma getting together in the future! That ending though! Woo! I'm ready to go straight into the next one to find out what happened to Emma!

Was excited to read. Had everything I usually like in a book. Except there's NO TRIGGER WARNINGS. Reading along enjoying the build until chapter 22. When the detailed sexual assault/rape of the main character happens. Couldn't get past it. More than one chapter of it so its not a quick thing to skip and talk of how the victim of it feels after continues into more. Sad because could've been a good book.
I chose this book because of its blurb. The idea of mixing mythologies from around the world, fascinated my. I can say firmly that I was not disappointed by the plot. Not. one. Bit. I have cried my eyes out from the very first pages and I have also laughed at Aislin's shenanigans. I was little disappointed about the amount of typos and format issues that kept popping out during my reading, but they didn't take away from the amazing story line. Definitely a book to recommend.
I adored this book, it was interesting from the start and was well thought out with a great back story to each character as well as having a great plot with twists and turns that kept you wanting to know more. i cannot wait for the next book in the series so i can read about the next set of characters!
Okay, just for the record I am not the English police. I leave that to my friend Amanda. Story line was great and it held my interest until I started to come across grammar issues. More along the lines of words being left out. But back to the story line. I have a love for dragons so this was right up my alley.
This was a great read. I love how she got to know her mom in a whole new light & found out about why the stories she was told throughout her youth were important. I also loved how she was so angry with her father and then learned why he was never in her life. This was a very heartfelt and romantic book.
This story is a 10 star! The female lead has such a strong character. Even the most dramatic of events don't keep her down.
I love how the author combined the different gods and myths. Aliens or Gods, Dragon or human. This story has it all. Best part, the saga continues in the next book!
