instalove no no instahate on my part.

this was very much a book i went into after reading the blurb thinking itd be a cute decent guy is overlooked or not taken seriously as a bachelor and therefore needs a 'wife' to get what is rightfully his a sort of the rules are bullshit so why play fair type deal.

i assumed wrongly that it was also the sort of book where his was a gentlemen mature maybe closed off or serious or hey just a younger guy who had commitment issues or just didnt want a wife a kids which is fine not everyone is going to be a good husband and father and they shouldnt force themselves to.

i wish i read the preview before getting the book because it wouldve saved me from bothering.

why you may ask was i instantly disgusted at this book?

well i can handle the cocky bastard, arrogant jerk, man whore and even selfish etc type what im saying is while i expected a mature or at least decent tolerable guy i got super immature, criminal, self entitled priveledged wanker... did i say conceited yet im not sure but i feel like any name i call this dickhead applies... not only in the first pages did i despise him insta turn off style but the first conversation and thoughts.

1) grown arse man stealing a boat not only a super expensive one but also one of their clients or whatevs.
lack of responsibility ownership culpability whatever this isnt a new thing oh no its not like hes done some one off reckless thing cause his best friend just died or something not that it would excuse it but id at least understand why he was acting like a fucking moron jackarse nooo not to mention the dude is proud of the fact he does recretional drugs - and when he ends up in jail and gets bailed out hes not even remorseful in the slightest. because apparently rules dont apply to the holier than thou aiden like shit i can tolerate a tiny insy bitsy but of this bs if its a teenager but are you kidding a bear shifter is behaving like a twit? it doesnt even fit in the bear shifter behaviour like you might expect it from a rogue wolf or something reckless and dumb like that but a bear? ugh. i like bear shifters because they tend to be the big scary teddy bear marshmellow on the inside protective loveable types who are content with themselves and family and live in nature and want cubs and usually like sweet stuff and are still sweet and stuff even though they are 'alpha' there not into being control freak pricks like wolves tend to be trying to constantly dominate etc. and yet here we are... it is so rare for me not to finish a book not even no finish it but to barely get through 10 pages and already hate it with a passion from the first page. honestly if theres a villian in the story that hates aiden or tries to kill him im on their side because obviously the story should be about them theyd be more likeable anyway. and from the reviews it seems as if im not the only one who thinks so? and apparently the chick is also the same so you know they deserve eachother and i hopr they dont make more of them tbh. which is insane coming from me given the more babies the better! but no if i could reach through the pages and remove his balls i would and maybe kick him a few times before i did the honors.

rant over - theres no doubt grammar issues but idgaf. it doesnt deserve good grammar for the shit show i read.

This book had it all: Impulsive male. Shifting abilities. Female lead. A half-brained scheme guaranteed to bring on crazy antics. Wrapped up happy ever after ending. So why the 1-star? Because, much like cooking a soup, if you throw everything in at once without letting flavors develop you get a bowl of disappointment.

Aiden is the youngest of three brothers and has a high impulse problem. He's the classic Alpha male you would expecting one of this shifter romance novels (and in no way I am bashing cause I love my shifters). But that's all he really is. The author provides a bit of a back story but his personality felt so flat to me. There was nothing about him that really made him stood out. He's just an impulsive man trying to save his millions by paying a down and out hacker to help him out.

Which brings me to the female lead: Molly.

Let me just say I chose to read this book because the idea of a female hacker sounds awesome! I was expecting a techie, sassy female with a bite stronger than any Gigabyte out there. Think like Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds or even Abby from NCIS.

What I got was a flat female lead. Molly loses her job because a security project she was involved in got hacked. I gave the benefit of the doubt while reading hoping that maybe she could be redeemed. Was this all staged by her employer because they didn't want to pay her for the work she had done? Is she going to suddenly need to hack some government system to help Aiden? None of that happened. In the fact, her whole hacking abilities only seemed to come up in words. You don't really see her talent.

Essentially, she's a sex doll through the book. The sex scenes are ultimately pretty well thought out and graphic. I give the author that. A lot of it is pretty much heavy dirty talk and I guess that's pretty great. But, again, I was hoping for more plot and character development or at least some connection to the characters.

The book hit the usual points that romance novels have but it all felt rushed and not really well planned out. There was a bit of angst. The usual jealous misunderstanding. The making up. Sex. Happy ending. But I didn't feel anything. I wasn't thrilled they got over a hurdle. I wasn't at all enthralled by Molly or Aiden.

In a nutshell I think the author had an idea but rushed it. If she had just taken some of the different traits she gave her characters, let them develop and actually stirred the pot a bit I might not have been so disappointed. She let Molly's hacking abilities fall flat, Aiden being ex-military just seemed to be an excuse for him to have his medical training, random references to his bear and that's the reason he's drawn to Molly (where's Molly's interaction with the bear?), and even the jealous misunderstanding was a really heavy let down. I like to see some anger and more than tears. I want to see some dramatics and some strong feelings outside of just screwing.

Really good read. Aiden tries to play his uncle by pretending to have a fiance and work at the shifter hospital to gain access to his trust fund. Molly agrees to be his fiance and marry him long enough to get his inheritance. They actually mesh pretty well and it looks like this is gonna go off without a hitch. Until Molly loses faith in what they have and decides it's just a business deal. They are both so miserable. Will Molly listen to Aiden and give it a real try or will it be just business. I really liked this whole little world they live in. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Cannot believe I could not get past the first few chapters.
Aiden spent ten years in the military doing a damn hard job but acts like he’s a rebellious 16 year old.
Molly, wow, loses her job and decides to get drunk instead of looking for another one.
Then these two meet in a bar, both drowning their sorrows.
Molly agrees to have sex with Aiden so she can use his electricity. WTF.
Just no to this type of puerile rubbish. Thought this author was better than this.
Thank goodness for KU.

Aiden sure is a handful and then some. I kept expecting one of his old flings to pop up and try to ruin everything. Really enjoyed this.
