Beautifully written, filled with imagery and inspiration. This book is, at the same time, grounded instruction and gentle suggestion. I have spent a very happy Saturday afternoon devouring the text, interrupted only by a mindful walk in the forest which took place at such a perfect moment in my reading, you might think Orna had planned it that way.
Note: I'm not sure I chose the right book from the selections on here, but I read A Creativist Compendium, Orna's book for her subscribers.
Reading this book was a pleasure and allowed me an opportunity to think through ways to dig deeper into my creative mind as I work. It gave me a lot of great thoughts to consider for my Authorpreneur journey and how to really tap into my creative energies. Also, Orna's words reminded me just how incredibly complex our brains are—which is a thought worth a pause for reflection.
I enjoyed the way she interspersed snip-its from her full Go Creative! series books with some of her fiction and poetry. Through her creative writing, I could see her creative process at work.
This book has really helped me think through how I am going to focus more on my creativity this year. For someone who is very practical and a tendency towards left-brain activities, it made it surprisingly easy to see there is a different way of living and building a business. I particularly liked the blend of advice, poetry and extracts from Orna's novels. I already listen to her Creativist Club webinars which are excellent and this book brought together so many more themes.
I’ve been trying to cultivate a creative practice of my own and been reading books about other people’s. This is what drew me to the book initially but what I discovered unexpectedly was Orna Ross’ poetry which is very much to my taste. There’s a lot I highlighted and thought over in this book - I didn’t rush read it because it delves into many interesting ideas. Highly recommended if you are on a creative journey.
