"There's salt water in them there veins." Or so her daddy would say, Carol will not deny this fact. She's spent more hours walking the beach, body surfing the waves, and fishing in the Gulf Stream than she can count. Her stories offer reflections of those experiences. A dash of nefarious characters, murderous souls, impassioned lovers and good old boys and gals are thrown in because Carol was compelled to include them.

"People inspire me," she says. "The guy with the bushy eyebrows, the young lovers strolling on the fishing pier. The rowdy kids throwing rocks at passersby...the news, life, my dog, and everything else. They are all fodder for stories."

Carol Ann Ross writes a mysterious tale with Bridge Tender

In Bridge Tender, the reader is introduced to Topsail Island, a small island with a small community, but as the community grows, so do things that are no longer commonplace. This is book two of the Murder by the Sea series. The slight swinging bridge would take you where you wanted to go, and follow you, and now, it's not just the outsiders that are taking over the island, the bridge is something else. A sinister act leaves the town reeling, and longing for the old days, when a hint of paranormal or unexplained things was always explained away. I am a big fan of Carol Ann Ross and read whatever this author writes. This author has a grand imagination, and talent for showing the story. A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. A very unpredictable story, my favorite kind! The writing of the story and development of the characters, even the unexplained, is impeccable. Topsail Island is a place I'd like to visit but not necessarily live there. Both thrilling and intriguing, all the way to the end. Spine Chilling, and yet a sense of peace comes from the island. Bridge Tender is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. This is also a recommended Adult Read. I enjoyed book 2 in the series much more than book 1. It made me happy I stuck through it. I think the story line is still somewhat predictable but it had more twists. I am enjoying how the writing style progresses, and the accuracy of the locales. I am reading this series as a local to the NC coast and I thoroughly enjoy reading about the communities near me. I look forward to continuing the series.
