Two rival bar owners. One inconvenient attraction. All's Fair in Love and Beer in this new small town contemporary romance from USA Today bestselling author Rachel Schurig! *** Cora Hanson's bar is a Lilac Bay institution. And that's just the way she always wanted it. Nothing makes Cora happier than knowing her friends and neighbors are having a good time at Cora's Place, the pub she's poured her heart and soul into. Sure, maybe it gets a little stressful, working as much as she does. And yes, it's been an awful long time since Cora has made time to date. But what does that matter so long as her bar remains Lilac Bay's most popular gathering place? When Owen Nichols shows up with plans to open his own bar, Cora is sure she doesn't have anything to worry about. There's no way some outsider can compete with her years of success. There's only one problem-Cora and Owen have history. And it's hard to concentrate on beating Owen in business when she can't seem to forget what it was like to be in his arms. Cora knows she needs to get her head in the game if she wants to win in this battle of the beer joints. But Owen doesn't seem to be backing down. And it's starting to look like it's not Cora's customers he's after-it just might be her heart.
It’s been a while since I last visited the Lilac Bay books so I was thrilled to see that Rachel Schurig had written another novel in the series and the wait didn’t disappoint!
I’m not going to give any spoilers or storylines away but I will say that as always with Rachel's books the characters and storylines are well written and it is nice to catch up with those we’ve already met in the first two books. You don't have to have read the first two in the series to enjoy All's Fair but trust me when I say that you will want to read them when you have finished this book! The descriptions of the island and it's inhabitants will soon have you hooked and wanting more.
This is a lovely, easy read novel and perfect escapism. If you’ve read Rachel’s books before you won’t be disappointed with this one. I'm looking forward to hopefully reading more from Lilac Bay soon - there’s certainly a few potential story lines already set up in this one and I for one can't wait to read more about the residents of this charming island.
I always enjoy Rachel’s books. The characters have depth, and I want to get to the end of the story to find out what happens to them. “All’s Fair” is no exception. It was great to catch up with the Libby’s and the rest of the characters from the island. I found myself trying to imagine life on an island where the weather is unkind for much of the year. Trying to earn a living in a place which is reliant on tourists that can’t always get there! It sounds tough, and Rachel writes about it with real knowledge of what that lifestyle means for the locals. I think it’s this that makes me want to read all her books. I get involved with the characters, even the irritating ones! So of course now I’m desperate for the next episode. Why was Posey acting strangely...an unanswered mystery. I guess that might come out next time. I’ll just have to be patient..... So, to sum up, I would definitely recommend this book, but buyer beware! You’ll want to read all the others, and there are quite a lot of them now! Happy reading!
Ms. Schurig has written another great Lilac Bay novel. The story centers on the island bartender Cora and Owen who moves to the island and opens another bar. They are both people who do not like to open up about their past and this hinders their relationship. Helping them along is boy named Noah who will grab your heartstrings. Also, catch up on the characters from the other two books including Iris and David's wedding.
I received an advance copy of this book, but I would have bought it anyway.
I received this book as a arc for a honest review, and being the first book that I have read from this author . Cora is a bartender that lives on a small island that doesn't even have cars ,and every one knows you. Owen is this good looking guy that is visiting on the island and can't wait to get out of their that is until he gets a drink from Cora the bartender . This book is a sweet read the only problem I had was there wasn't much action from the charters that gets your heart rate up until the middle of the book.
Although the Lilac Bay books are cleaner than her other series, this one was a little more like the others. I love the characters, like always. I love the small, safe, quaint quiet town. Which of course, still has issues, just like everywhere else! I love the family dynamics.
I really enjoyed this book, but I think the official blurb ruined the plot a little, especially the start. You knew Owen’s intentions from the beginning that he was going to open a bar, (even though he might not have known at the start) you knew from the blurb! So that meant you couldn’t get caught up in the romance between him and Cora in the beginning as you were already prepared to dislike him! However, it was still a good Rachel Schurig read, and a really lovely Lilac Bay follow on. I do hope we get to have Posey’s story one day, we did get a little more of a glimpse into her life in this book, but the author really is teasing us with what is going on with her!

Ok, this one was really good. There were a lot of aspects to the book that really came together well. Cora and Owen may very well be my favorite couple yet.
