A DESPERATE WOMAN

Melissa Sheffield was trapped in a nightmare. On the journey to meet her fiance in Santa Fe, she was captured by Apaches and given to a man known as Cougar. At first, she was relieved to learn that she'd been given to a white man, but with one kiss he proved himself more dangerous than the whole tribe. Terrified of her savage captor and frantic to return to civilization, she pledged to escape at any price. But while there might be an escape from the Apaches, was there any escape from her heart?

A DANGEROUS MAN

Clay Brodie --- known as Cougar to the Apaches he'd run wild with since boyhood --- suddenly found his loyalty in question. Given the fiery Melissa by his chief, he was ordered to turn the beauty into an obedient slave --- or destroy her. But how could he slay a woman who evoked an emotion deeper than he'd ever known? And when the time came to fight, would it be for his tribe or for his woman?

Imagine you're walking between 2 worlds, the Apache world and the white world. You've been walking these 2 worlds as long as you can remember and one day you return to the Apache world to find your sister has been murder and your fellow brothers have gone to avenge her death, and they return with a white slave as a trade to your sister's death. Now, this bold haired white slave you're given is a test of your loyalty because the Apache leader had a dream of you betraying them and trading your life for the slave. You teach this slave of yours their place, the chores, and as time goes by, you and her get close to each other. There's a burning desire that you both try to fight off. 3 months in, you've given in to the burning desires that call you to passionately embrace each other. After that, you have to go on a hunt, in which when you return, you return to your slave/woman accused of assaulting the Apache leader's wife and vanishing. The punishment for such behavior is death. Your heart tells you she wouldn't have done such deed, but the "evidence" is damning. You swear to find the slave so she could answer for her deeds which leads to you learning about love, that it's okay to give without receiving and you fund yourself torn between your white self and the people you consider your own, the Apaches.

This book is wonderful written, and the twists and turns keep the reader glued, always wanting for more.

Picked up this book in a thrift store and was positively surprised. Really liked the story, unforeseen twists, and the main characters. Captivatingly written, pulled on my heart strings, romance and a bit of spice included.

Melissa knew then, he was her fate, her destiny, and she would follow him to the ends of the earth, or live with him among the Apaches. Which world they shared no longer mattered. She was Cougar's woman, and someday he would belong to her as well.
