Only Human tells the story of a man determined to compete in the sport he loves. In this futuristic novella, football is played mostly by humanoid robots, but Mark, a human, won't step down or give up. An interesting look at what drives us to compete and win, how we overcome odds stacked against our favor, and how we are forced to adjust our game plan in order to succeed. Recommended for science fiction fans, those who enjoy sports stories, and anyone curious about what the future may hold for competitive sports.

The Anachronism first appeared in Ancient New in 2013. Only Human was published with a fabulous new cover in 2017.

An anachronism “is a thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than which it exists especially a thing which is conspicuously old-fashioned.”

It turns out that Mark Borraisle, the quarterback for Neuropa Knights sports team is the anachronism; one of the last remaining human players competing with humanoid robots.

I don’t gravitate to sports, science fiction or futuristic genres, but Frank’s novella instantly pulled me in.

Gullo’s rendering of the character Borraisle in a league dominated by bots is brilliant!

Mark’s determination completely won me over. I was quietly surprised and somewhat astonished that I was capable of having feelings about a human football player competing with humanoid robots.

Do yourself a favor and add Frank Gullo’s Novella, Only Human to your reading list right now.
