In this collection of readings Jack & Janet Roach argue that we have so far failed to create a coherent framework for a sociology of poverty by ignoring its underlying theoretical and methodological problems. In particular, this has inhibited the exploration of links between the prevailing idiologies and the structural conditions that promote and maintain poverty within widely differing societies.
