In this collection of Tales from Dragon Country Kusum Kapur has captured the spirit of Bhutan and its people.
There are tales of adventure in the form of skirmishes with giants and demons, of tragedy in the stories of star-crossed lovers, and of humour in the exploits of Moten Phago and Dawa. While the folk tales about the mischievous monkey and the pesky toad provide plenty of fun, others like 'The Master-Craftsmen' and 'The Borrowed Gho' are shrewd comments on human relationships.

Sehr nette Sammlung von Märchen aus Bhutan. Am besten hat mir "Wie die Kröte zu ihren Warzen kam" gefallen. Auch die übrigen Geschichten sind interessant und haben einen ganz eigenen Scharm, Lamas taugen herrlich als Deus-ex-machina.
Das Buch hat ein Vorwort, in dem kurz einige Informationen zur Entstehung der Sammlung gegeben werden. Diese hätten jedoch ausführlicher sein können. Hinten im Buch gibt es ein Glossar, die Wörter sind im Text (meistens) kursiv. Ich hätte mir mehr Hintergrundinformationen gewünscht. Einige Helden, Orte und Ereignisse kommen in mehreren Märchen vor, darauf wird leider überhaupt nicht eingegangen.
