Not gonna finish this one. I really don't care what happens between these two. Never really connected to either character. I have other things I'd rather read.

This author is hit and miss for me. Mostly miss, which is really disappointing because the two I really liked of hers were great! Not sure what happened. Just in these others, I have not like the characters. I haven't felt a need to invest myself in their story.

Welcome to the world of car racing and this book will let all have the ride of their lives. Emma is a gorgeous and simple girl whose hidden dream is to race professionally but it’s her brother’s task to carry out the family’s passion. Unfortunately her brother will be involved in a serious accident and she will need to step up and take charge. Locke is a gorgeous billionaire whose childhood wasn’t all peaches and dandelions because he was bullied as a child. Growing up he will redeem himself when he’ll build, with the help of his sister, a successful company who will end up sponsoring Emma. Their encounter is sparkling but Locke doesn’t absolutely want to mix work with pleasure. It’s going to be difficult because Emma is a bubbly and tenacious woman who will give him a hard time. Will they end up together? Is Emma going to finally win the race of her life? Another wonderful story written by Alice Ward.

The Race by Alice Ward is an exciting read! The book is set in the world of NASCAR racing. I loved Locke and Emma's story. The chemistry between Emma and Locke was instant, intense and steamy. Emma gets her chance, after a tragic accident during a race which takes her brother off the track. Now it’s up to her to race and win. And there is no pressure, just all of her parents’ life savings. Locke Cage is Emma’s sponsor – he is the COO of UnCaged Fitness which promotes women athletes and the fitness bracelet. When Emma and Locke meet, its like immediate sparks , no think fireworks that fly between them. What a fast paced thrilling ride! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading until the very end. Emma and Locke’s love story will have you hooked, immediately drawn in until the story ends. Now I am dying to read the next hottest read by Ms. Ward.

Growing up in the shadow of her older brother, Emma has always dreamed of driving in NASCAR, but it’s not until a horrific accident that takes her brother out of the drivers seat, that her dreams come true. When Locke Cage brings his company’s sponsorship on board, Emma now has the car to match her skills. Passion ignites between the two and they believe they have found their soulmates. But will the romance be the thing her career is known for? Or will Locke walk away in order to keep her driving accomplishments from being overshadowed? With great characters and storyline that hooked me in from the opening pages this is a book that should not be missed. Alice Ward certainly does not disappoint with this one.

I'm starting to read more and more sports romances, so I was excited to get the chance to read an arc of The Race. I'm also relatively new to Alice Ward, but I've really enjoyed what I've read so far, she has a great, easy to read flowing writing style and this hit the mark.

The Race is based around NASCAR, I'm not very familiar with it, but that didn't matter, the racing and training chapters were so well described, I could picture it and feel the tension and electric atmosphere. Unusually, the driver was female and I loved that twist on the norm. Emma has been racing as long as she can remember, it's in her blood and her older brothers. She's always had to be in the shadow of her brother, but has always been on his team, until a horrific accident leaves him unable to drive, so Emma gets her chance in the spotlight. It's a mans world though and she's going to need a lot of backup. Enter Locke Cage, ceo of Uncaged, a fitness company running a huge campaign empowering women in sport. Their attraction is immediate but he has a strict rule, no mixing business with pleasure. However, the more time they spend together, the greater their chemistry, the hotter the sparks and the harder it becomes to stick to the rules.

I liked both these characters, they've both had to overcome a lot to get where they are and both find it hard to open up and let people get close. Emma is hard on herself and despite the feisty outwardly confident persona she shows the world, underneath she has a very vulnerable side and doubts herself, how can she be feminine with so much to prove? She has a fiery temper and whilst trying to earn the respect of some tough journalists and fellow competitors, her own brother doesn't support her the way he should. Whenever her confidence is low, Locke is there to boost her up but is their growing relationship going to ruin everything they've both sacrificed so much for? Can they even have a relationship? You'll have to read it to find out!

Overall, really enjoyable, I totally get the issues of trying to earn respect in a workplace dominated by men, I've been there in my own career in the past, you have to work twice as hard to achieve the same and there is always someone who wants to put you down. It's worth the fight though and this book is definitely worth a read, I recommend it and look forward to reading a lot more of this author's books in the future.

Very sweet story. I enjoyed Emma being the driver rather than a fan falling in love with the drive even if the circumstances of her being in the car was a little over the top. Emma and her brother grew up racing from go-karts to dirt tracks both were not only racing the field but each other. Emma was a littler jealous as her family's focus went to her brother rather than her but she supported the decision, when an accident took Brody out of the car and Emma in now the spotlight was focused on Emma. Because of being overweight while growing up Locke started a company for fitness and when they began their girls campaign Emma seemed to be a good fit. Great chemistry between Emma and Locke, fun story and Emma's spunk! wow!!

As a NASCAR fan there were places in the story where poetic license was taken to fit the story line, i.e.: Emma quickly ascending into cup racing and her doing so well with a rookie crew but it makes the story outcome sweet, but a little out of reality but I could overlook these because the story was very entertaining and who wouldn't want to "Drive like a girl"?

More Than Racing
4.5 ⭐️
She’s beautiful yet feisty. A sister living in her brother’s shadow; a member of his pit crew while he pursues his racing dreams. It’s his dream, but it’s hers too.

Emma James gets her chance, after a tragic accident during a race takes her brother off the track. Now it’s up to her to race and win. No pressure, just every cent of her parents savings.

Emma needs a sponsor to continue to race towards the dream of competing at Daytona. Perfect timing for UnCaged Fitness who is running a campaign that promotes women athletes and their fitness bracelet.

Enter Locke Cage, COO of the company, hot and totally ripped. He is a mico-managing, workaholic who built this company from scratch. Him and his sister run a billion dollar operation.

These two meet an it’s like fire and ice! Get ready for the steam!

Emma is tough, driven and hard working, but she’s a woman in a male dominated sport and they sure let her know. Locke is complicated. He has hang ups and baggage, but he’s just what Emma needs.

These two have to navigate through lots of obstacles to pursue Emma’s dream. But together...they become unstoppable. This story is about so much more than a race car driver and a billionaire.

Fantastic read! I love the female main character, Emma. She is who I want to be when I grow up. Strong, confidant, doesn't want to be anyone but herself, proud, I could go on and on but I'll leave that for you to discover when you read this book.

Emma grew up in her brother's shadow. They both had the same dream but the family could only afford one dream. So she was shuffled to the background until........finally, she unfortunately gets her chance. Then her life takes off like a rocket. Everything starts to happen at once and wow, is it overwhelming for Emma but in the middle of it, there's Locke, her fitness knight in sweats.

All Locke is trying to do is make his company a bigger success and bury the hurt and memories of his childhood. With his sister by his side, he works almost 24/7 until the new campaign, when he meets Emma and she teaches him a few things. Sure they butt heads but don't most of the best romantic couples??

Pick up Alice Ward's latest, you'll love it and race to the end!

When Emma’s brother Brody is seriously injured during a race, she takes his place as driver. Emma has always been passionate about cars, but due to the expense involved, her parents could only support one driver. Now Emma has to work hard to prove herself in a male dominated sport. Locke is the CEO of UnCaged Fitness, and is looking for a girl to represent the company for a new campaign. Sparks fly when these two meet, and the chemistry is explosive. This is a beautifully written story, which is emotional and powerful, and had I was totally captivated throughout. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers, and cannot wait to read more from her. Brilliant work Alice!!

I loved this book. A entertaining storyline, fun plot and likable characters make for great reading. The chemistry between Emma and Locke is off the charts and their attraction just burns throughout the book. From the intensity and heat of their romance, to the drama of being a female driver in this male dominated sport the book will keep you turning pages to find out what happens next. A truly excellent book that was a pure pleasure to read. I'm posting a completely honest review after reading this book.

This was a well written, sweet, yet steamy romance set in the world of NASCAR racing. Alice Ward has done a great job of giving us, the reader a front row seat into this high-octane way of life. The chemistry between Emma and Locke was instant and intense. I appreciated the changes Locke had made to improve his life and the struggles Emma faced in this heavily male-dominated sport. While I felt that some parts of Emma’s story were somewhat clichéd, they didn’t lessen my overall enjoyment of the book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

The Race by Alice Ward a sublime five-star read. I adore Alice Ward and all of her stories, they just seem to go from strength to strength, Emma was adorable as a character, she had her foibles as everyone does, but you just want to take her under your shadow and make sure everything’s okay. Locke was a great man with his own set of history that made him into the man he is now, and he has his moments but overall really well done. Emma’s brother Brody was someone I would definitely love to hear more about, he has a story that I would love more off. Overall a fast pace and thrilling read filled with a story you will not be able to put down.

What a fast paced thrilling ride! This story had it all, a feisty, strong, sexy young woman, a hot pretty boy, sibling rivalry, an angsty forbidden romance, car crashes and race car driving! It was a beautiful sweet story about being yourself, never backing down from what you want and finding love in unexpected places! I loved Emily and Locke! Watching their relationship blossom gave me all the feels and you could really see their growth together and individually. The ending was perfect!

The chance of a lifetime or the love of a lifetime? Sometimes we dream of having both but circumstances force us to choose. But what if the choice for love opens the door for the chance? If Emma and Locke both lack the courage to go balls to the wall to create the future they want they'll never know.

Emma is a fierce competitor. But because she's a woman she was forced to take a back seat to her older brother on the track. Their relationship suffered a bit because of the jealousy and animosity that simmered underneath the acceptance and support for a good friend that happened to be her closest sibling. I was frustrated with their dynamic from the beginning and never warmed up to their supposed friendship. His jealousy for her situation is understandable but maybe he should have taken a look at how she felt her entire life being forced to support him despite being just as good if not better behind the wheel than him but because she was born second, and a woman, she had to play support cast to him for years. And his treatment of her when Emma and Locke were caught being intimate? Total dick move. Like, supremely disappointing. And then his other unacceptable move during her qualifying race...ugh. I know we're probably going to get his story but I don't think I can find it in me now or soon to want to read it.

But this story is about Emma and Locke, so back on track here... Okay, so the way the sibling's dynamic played out in the story wasn't my favorite and there were many times it could have enhanced what was going on with her career, her relationship, the pressures of racing, the grueling training, being homesick...so many ways it could have helped her evolution but instead it created a distraction and more angst that never let up. Emma was captivating at the start and then aside from physical strength and finding girly aspects of herself that enjoyed playing up her femininity, she really didn't change. For me she stagnated as a character and I wasn't all that impressed with her.

Her fearlessness, talent, determination, and take-no-guff attitude was fantastic and when the pressure got to her and she lost a bit of her fearlessness and determination I could understand it, it was just the way she got it back that seemed rather lackluster. There wasn't something that changed her and made her realize what she could and should be doing to improve or fight those pressures, it was just Locke distracting her and taunting her so she could go back to showing some of her spirit. And the take-no-guff attitude really just became more reactionary and showcased a fiery, hair-trigger temper rather than a focused, strong, low tolerance level for bull that had no problem calmly calling people out for it like she did with Locke when they first met.

Locke was interesting in the beginning. He had a past that pushed him to the level of fitness and business success he currently enjoys. I liked the transformation aspect, but his hatred of that part of himself was slightly off-putting. I was hoping that by loving the all-natural, genuine Emma he would find a balance. And the epilogue showed the emotional evolution he experienced throughout the story. He was far more dynamic as a person than I felt Emma was. There were aspects of his character that I wasn't drawn to but overall I felt like he achieved more in his personal revelations that kind of made up for it.

Having grown up watching NASCAR and my dad in the garage and his shop as a mechanic there was a ton of the story that I enjoyed and appreciated. Any time we got to a race scene I was charged and loved the detail, the anticipation, the excitement of the race itself. Awesome job with this part of the story. The romantic relationship was pretty good with both characters being ideal partners for one another but lacked the overall transformation and settling most of Alice's characters undergo in her stories. External drama was a bit bigger than necessary and didn't really have a satisfactory resolution. But that epilogue...utter perfection. Alice is the master at phenomenal epilogues that convey change, deep and abiding love, sexy times, and the utter happiness between the MC's. So while I had some issues with the story, the epilogue made me almost forgive them.

ARC willingly read and reviewed.

The Race.....an apt name for an adorable story. You have a small town tom-girl with big dreams of being a race car driver, a Billionaire who had a rough childhood that still effects his views of himself.
The story begins with a bit of background, Emma's family relationships, her brother being the one the family chose to back in racing, as there wasn't enough money for both. Emma works the pit crew and still harbors dreams of her own. In a cruel twist of fate, her brother is involved in a terrible accident and loses his arm, and is unable to race. As sponsors were just taking notice, Emma is going to race in his place.
Locke heads up a huge company that focuses on fitness, eating healthy and empowering women. He and his sister have been doing campaigns on various sports looking for t e ideal spokesperson for their company. Locke's sister & business partner discovers Emma and thins shed be a great fit. She convinces Locke to go find out.
From the get go there is chemistry between Locke & Emma. Both are interested in each other but not necessarily in a good way- The initial meeting has Emma & her brother, who is helping advise her, thinking hes an ass and ready to walk away. Locke manages to smooth things with Emma and they agree on the endeavor. Feelings emerge, Locke has never gotten involved with an employee but knows Emma is going to be a problem. She is equally interested in him. Emma doesn't have a lot of experience with men, especially ones with Locke's wealth, connections and expectations.
Back and forth with lots of issues to address, family saga and even Locke;s difficult childhood and poor self image all pose as potential problems. They manage to see each other under the radar for a while, despite a bad press conference that is interesting.
They eventually are outed. First Emma's brother discovers them, there is a public argument and another accident to boot. Protective instincts come to the forefront. A very compelling HEA with just the right amount of struggle and tenderness. I always enjoy books by Alice Ward. Another winner for sure!

I really enjoyed this well-written, romantic glimpse into a world of fast car and fitness-crazed adrenaline junkies. Author Alice Ward provided some great twists in the story, like her hero Locke's transformation from adolescent loner to high-powered and uber conditioned fitness CEO, and heroine Emma's elevation to fame from obscurity due to her brother's misfortune.

I don't know which character I liked best, but I certainly appreciated that all of the principal characters were multi-faceted. Emma was a strong, driven athlete, but even so her insecurities peeped out from time to time. Her brother Brody could be loyal and supportive, but jealous and passive-aggressive as well. And Laura, Locke's sister and his company COO, was focused and ready to push back and criticize Locke when his actions were not optimal for their bottom line but supportive when her brother held his ground. As for Locke, I liked his backstory and his general caring and protective attitude towards Emma, but IMO he was a bit smug and maybe too competitive, especially when it came to his fitness-obsessed lifestyle.

Ward did not ignore the macho and misogynistic elements that plague women in the world of professional sports in telling her tale. I did think the hero could have been more outspoken early on in cutting off sexist comments aimed at Emma. His silence could have appeared to be tacit agreement. If I had been Emma, I would have been hurt by his silence in the face of sexist badgering at a press conference HE had orchestrated! Does he make up for it eventually? No spoilers here; read the book to find out!:-)

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Racing, promoting, family, reporters, money, stresses of beating the odds. Yikes- that would be enough for any race car driver, add in a beautiful female, whose a fire-breather of words ( LOVED THIS ) and a newbie to the more prominent circuit, you would be living Emma James life. When her brother's misfortune becomes her ultimate opportunity, she cannot turn down the sponsorship offer from the Uncaged Fitness or the self-made "pretty boy" billionaire and founder of UnCaged who had been fighting for space in her thoughts since their first meeting! ( Locke )
The hot n heady sparks that fly between them are something that didn't go unnoticed! But should be due to the nature of their "professional" relationship! How long will this combustible pair be able to keep their hands to themselves? Will Emma be the rising star in the racing world?
WOW!
That was amazeballs!
I was not entirely sure what I was settling into when I first opened this book, but I quickly found myself immersed in an oh so sexy, insta yum, sweet treat with a feeling of empowerment weaving its magic through the pages. The love story that was unfolding qualified in my ever after loving mind as one I would want!
**My favorite quote**
" She was like riding a fu9king rollercoaster in the dark, having no clue where she'd take me."
Some high intense, drama, but not over the top, a few facepalm relationship woes. I'm still on the fence about asking the author why she didn't just have the tough as nails Emma take her brother out........... of the, you know... guess I am not that " loyal" just saying.
Regardless of my frozen heart, I could not get enough of fast-paced, love bursting at the seems, sexy beast of a tale- The Race!
Absolutely #OneClick material you will not regret it!

I received an ARC and I leave my voluntary and honest review.

Wow! Does Alice Ward ever disappoint? The answer is a resounding NO! Each of her books leaves your heart pounding and sighing for different reasons.

This story is about Emma and Locke. Emma grows up in the shadow of her brother's NASCAR dreams. She works in his pit crew and races too but she demurs to her big brother for the big races. She is spunky, fiery, and sassy. Definitely necessary character traits in order to survive the male dominated racing world. Locke is a co-owner (with his sister) of unCaged Fitness. His company ends up sponsoring Emma after she is forced to step up to the plate after her brother is in a racing accident that ends up with him losing his arm.

When Emma and Locke meet it's a vroom vroom vroom of both of their hearts. He definitely does not want to mix business and pleasure but his attraction and need to protect Emma is much, much stronger than his business sense. Thank gawd for Emma and us! Locke and Emma sizzle, flame, and combust! What will happen with these two when you bring the big NASCAR picture into their hearts? Will anything happen to Emma while she's racing? Will she win that NASCAR trophy? Will she win Locke's heart?

Only Alice Ward can answer these questions with her phenomenal imagination and writing art! She will make you tense with anticipation, eager to see what will happen next, and make your heart pound with excitement, happiness, and passion! Readers start your engine and enjoy another amazing story!

What an adreline rush reading about a fiesty, no holds barred woman, Emma, who wants to compete in NASCAR such as the Daytona 500, but her older brother is the one in competitions, until he isn’t, now it’s Emma’s turn and she snags herself a sponsor, Locke. Locke owns his own company that promotes fitness and he has been running ads empowering women, so when he sees Emma he knows he wants her, but is it for his ads or is there something more.
What an amazing read with some steam and scenes that had my heart pounding, making me feel like I was right there, with the engines roaring and smell diesel and oil in my nose. A read where I immediately fell in love with Emma....she knows what she wants and she doesn’t let anyone stand in her way, she is strong and determined and the way she is with Locke....wow. Not only that but being a lone female in a sport dominated by men, she knows how to handle the comments and innuendos that made me mad for her but also smile and laugh with her comebacks. I loved how these two opened up to one another, sharing their fears and divulging secrets that no one else knows.
There were times that I wanted to slap her brother but even that she handled and came out on top. What I really loved was near the end when it came down to it, both stepped up and claimed what they wanted, no matter who was there to witness it.

I’ve only read a couple of books by this author and what I have found so far is that the female characters she writes have been strong and they don’t let anything or anyone get in their way. As with the main character Emma, she is fierce right from the get-go. She’s not one to hold back and let someone walk right over her or think they are better than her. She will put them in their place if need be. Her dream is to win the NASCAR cup and that opportunity opens up for her. Enter Locke, the Founder and CEO of UnCaged Fitness, who is looking for a determined female to be a spokesperson for their Drive Like a Girl campaign to empower women. Not only does he find the spokesperson he needs, but he finds the one who brings him out of his shell, is the yin to his yang, and the one that his heart wants. Their chemistry is undeniable even as they do their best to stay away from each other. The Race is a well written story that kept me interested throughout and has a HEA.

I received a copy of the story with a promise of an honest review, but ended up purchasing it.

There is Emma, who has always been a tomboy and loves racing. Her brother got the big shot though as her parents could only afford to back one child. When he is hurt in a race, she gets to take his place as the driver for the team. It is now her chance to prove that she belongs in this male dominated world. She also wants to help her brother who needs an expensive prosthetic. She really needs a sponsor though to make her dreams come true. Enter, UnCaged Fitness & Lock Cage. They are looking for a woman to represent a new campaign and determine Emma is perfect. When they meet for the first time it is electric. Locke, who is the CEO also never had anyone speak to him the way Emma does. Will they decide to go for it in the area of love or keep it professional? She is an asset of the company. This is a great story with good character development and lots of emotion. I highly recommend this fast paced read.

Wow! I absolutely loved this!! You probably assume the "racer" is a man, but oh no, it's a woman!! Emma has lived and breathed racing since she was a little girl. After a tragic accident her brother is no longer able to race, and she quietly hopes her dreams can now come true. Locke is the CEO of UnCaged and is looking for his idea for a company sponsorship. His sister brings up Emma, being a woman race car driver is a rarity and would be the perfect person for their campaign. Once Locke meets Emma his world is slowly turned upside down. He offers her a full sponsorship for her race team, but soon finds he get her off his mind. Emma is insanely attracted to Locke, but they try to keep things professional. Soon the pressure, and the passion overtake them and they can't resist anymore. What happens when you mix business and pleasure? You get one fabulous role coaster ride that you won't be able to put down!!

This story is as exciting and intense as racing cars at Daytona Beach. Emma and Locke's romance is sweet, sexy and meant to be - even if others think differently. I'm not a NASCAR fan so, I had some concerns about liking the story. I was certainly surprised. I really liked it especially, Emma as the talent and Locke the sponsor, a nice change of pace. These two characters are spirited, big hearted and loyal to their families. You'll want to cheer them on from the start all the way to their checkered flag.

I was a little disappointed with Emma's brother, Brody and her parents. I found Brody to be too cruel and hurtful towards Emma, well beyond what should be considered normal considering his circumstance. Also, I thought Emma's relationship with her parents lacked the supportive, unconditional love dynamic that I think she deserves.

I highly recommend this book!

Start Your Engines – Fabulous Read!!!

Emotional beginning: Emma wants to race cars – but big brother Brody gets the nod as parents can only afford to support one. The event which allows Emma to race leaves Emma with much guilt and the need to truly prove herself.

Uncaged Fitness has a great ad campaign; hit like a girl, run like a girl, and Emma is tagged for their drive like a girl campaign. CEO Locke is irresistible. He also does not realize the true athleticism required to “just drive”. The sizzling attraction and competitiveness that develops between these two makes for compelling reading.

Given the tools, trainers and track time that would have never happened otherwise can this young woman prove to herself and the world that she has what it takes? Like Locke I’ve never been into NASCAR, but it comes alive in this thrilling story of racing and romance.

Absolutely stunning read!!

You know how to tell that someone's a really good writer? When she writes a book about a sport you can't stand, and you LOVE it anyway. I went to Junior High in the Daytona Beach area, I know all about NASCAR fever, I even had a BFF who lived in Holly Hill. I knew guys and girls like Locke, growing up, and his struggle against bullying resonates. Emma's struggle to to true to herself, and figure out who that is also resonates. It's so hard to be your own person when you don't know what that looks like and what's really expected of you in today's society, and Emma's story is an unexpected, perfect way to tell that story. In a way, so is Locke's. They're both perfectly average, yet breaking stereotypes in the best of ways, and in typical Alice Ward fashion, the Romance is not only deeply satisfying, but takes unexpected turns that are more meaningful than the average Contemporary Romance novel. I'm so glad I took a chance on The Race.

Another great book!!! I couldn’t put it down! The way it had a strong. Female lead was awesome! This book did take me a minute to get me going because well ill be honest racing not my biggest thing but then I got sucked. Right. In. Emma has been second fiddle for so long it hurts. Plus being a “girl”. Racing is what she loves. Her brother got to be the racer. When she finally get her shot shes happy but shes hurt that its at her brothers expense. Locke’s world is about showing off how “girls” can make it. When Emma comes onto the scene he see potential, in more than one way. They need to keep things professional. They need to focus on the goal. Emma has so so much to lose in such a male dominated sport, but their attraction is deep. Can this be tamed? Can it work with work? I read this book voluntarily for an honest review. I enjoy reading all of Alice’s books. Im entertained with them all. Enjoy!

I loved this well written story because of the characters : you only want to have a man like Locke, and a spit fire like Emma as a friend or a model.
I can’t stand to see car race, but I like the way Alice Ward made me discovered the sacrifices that were necessary to be a good racer.
The story presents us Emma who wants to be a race car driver but her parents chose her brother Brody. He has an accident and she has her chance. Locke is the CEO of « Uncaged fitness » and he wants to sponsor her.
They’re attracted to each other, but they’re boss and employee, so they try to avoid the attraction. Moreover, as a woman, races are really hard because of clichés, mysoginism.
It’s a really excellent story, with different points of view in this sport mainly manages by men.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Oddly enough, I’m not a big sports fan but I love reading sport-related fiction. I know it’s mostly not the right type of racing, but what I was picturing was Danica Patrick as the rookie hero of “Driven”. It’s kind of a lousy movie reference, but the image worked for me. Emma is an amazing character: a strong woman fighting to make a name for herself in field that really doesn’t let the girls come out to play. Locke was pretty awesome too. He’s overcome so much to be where he is now, but he’s still carrying the baggage, the wounds, from those struggles. The chemistry connecting Locke and Emma leaps off the page and produces some extremely angsty and steamy scenes between the pair. I love the messages in this book of anti-bullying and striving to be your best no matter what obstacles are in your way – even gender.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
