One Snow day, Pinky is heading to town to get a pizza for himself and his mother. He must run quickly so he doesn't forget: mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions and peas. When the Squirrel boys try to sidetrack him, Pinky becomes annoyed and kicks the tree they're in. The snow from the branches falls down, and Pinky, without knowing, looks like a snowman. As Pinky walks through town, EVERYONE is talking about the walking snowman. But Pinky doesn't see him AND he's much too focused on getting his pizza to stop and look for him. This funny story has charming ink-and-watercolor paintings and endearing characters.

Pinky is walking to town to get a pizza for himself and his mother; but there are lots of distractions on the way! A great 'seasonal' story that will bring a smile to everyone's face - and make you hungry for pizza!
Pinky is in a rush to pick up a delicious pizza for he and his mother for dinner. He is anxious to show his mom how well he can do the job. Pinky chants the toppings to himself along the way so he won't forget. When Pinky runs into a little mishap with some squirrels and a heap of snowballs, he becomes a walking talking snowman. Unbeknownst to Pinky, his appearance is causing quite the stir around town.
This story is perfect for a fun winter read-a-loud. Children will love to chant the rhyme with Pinky to remember the pizza toppings. This is a cute, fun, seasonal story that will become a fast favorite.
This is a must read for your kiddos this winter season! Clever and cute!

On a snowy day Pinky Pig is sent to get pizza for his family. Along the way he recites the toppings that are desired. This distracts him from what's happening around him--he's gotten covered with snow. Now everything thinks there's a walking, talking snowman in town! This is a gently sweet, lightly humorous story with delightful and expressive watercolor and ink illustrations.
A pig on a mission is concentrating so hard on it, he doesn't realize he's covered with snow. Where is that walking, talking snowman everyone is talking about.
I love Gorbachev's illustrations, comforting and colorful, reminds me a bit of Mercer Mayer with many creatures/critters and townfolk.
Little Pinki has a big job. His mother has sent him to town to buy a pizza with plenty of extras:
-Mushrooms -Mozzarella (Meaning extra mozz?) -Fresh tomatoes -Onions -Peas (Peas on pizza? That's a new one to me.)
This pig sure has a lot to do. In terms of character development:
* First he's a good little pig with a job to do for his mommy. * Soon he is totally covered with snow, except for his little pink snout, and everybody thinks that he looks just like a snowman * Then, strangest of all, Pinky is described as "a wet little boy." (Euwwww.)
Of course, the ending is happy.
Of course, this preposterous but entertaining picture book rates FIVE STARS from this Goodreads reviewer.
A little boy is on a quest for his mother to pick up a pizza. He has a rhyme to help remember what she wants on the pizza. On the way some boys want him to play snowball fights, but he doesn't have time. He gets coated in snow and looks like a walking snowman. The boy wants to see the snowman but doesn't have time. While he's waiting for the pizza, the snow melts. He gets the pizza home, still hot, and eats lunch with his mother. Then they go for a walk because they both want to see the walking snowman.
A young pig is sent to order a pizza, gets covered in snow on his walk to town, and is mistaken by the townspeople as a "walking snowman." I thought maybe the chant of his pizza toppings would possibly start to change and evolve (à la the game telephone), but that was a missed opportunity. I love Grobachev's illustrative style, but the story didn't quite thrill me.
A young pig is headed into town to get a pizza for his mom. Along the way he becomes covered in snow and can't seem to see the walking snowman. Whoever could the walking snowman be? Length makes it preschool and up.
I thought this book was a very cute little story about a walking snowman. I think kids would enjoy especially during the winter or Christmas time. I though the writing was good and so were the illustrations.
12/4/22: While this was cute and I liked the illustrations, I didn't really get the whole ending. No one told poor pig what happened? It was a decent enough book, but not one I think I would go out and get my grandchild right away.

Basing this rating on how much my kids love this book. There is a snowball fight with squirrels, sharing a pizza with mom, and a pig that looks like a snowman - what more could you ask for?
