That’s Not My Bee …
Board Book

This short little board book explains to the reader all of the reasons the bees shown do not belong to the author. Each page, including the cover, has a tactile feature that allows a baby to feel different parts of a bee - fluffy stripes, fuzzy tummy, etc. The pictures are uncomplicated and colorful and include small details, like a little mouse on each page, that the caregiver could point out and discuss. The text is basic but introduces descriptive words about the features the baby is touching.

My daughter loves this book. I would give it five stars, but there is one massive plot hole.

One of the reasons given for stating a bee is not the correct bee is that its hive is too rough. However, if we were able to identify the hive the bee came from, would we not already be able to determine that this was not our bee? By definition, our bee should come from our hive, and therefore a tactile examination of the other bee's hive should not be necessary.

Aside from the necessity of manhandling a beehive for no reason supported in the text, this is a very nice children's book.

My partner couldn’t pass this book up, as a gift for our Little B, for Christmas. Cool touch and feel patches on each pages, while teaching little ones the anatomy of the Bee with a cute little story of finding my Bee.

It is my last day of maternity leave today and we were shopping for birthday party decorations. I read her this in the shop. We found it funny that they've drawn black bellies on all the bees just to make one of the textured patches make sense.

A charming touch and feel book perfect for babies and toddlers. These series of books are a big hit with my daughter. Fun to read out loud for mom and fun for baby to feel the different textures. Very cute.
