This sequel to Blackberry Days of Summer reunites the people of Jefferson County, Virginia, with murder and the resurrection of an evil thought to be dead and gone. Carrie Parker is juggling motherhood, work, school, and increasing strains on her new marriage. She and Simon are happy parents, but sometimes Carrie fears there's something dark and evil about her little baby's eyes. She vows he will not be anything like his real father -- but the past has a way of creeping into the present.
Ms. Watson has once again succeeded in pulling me into the lives of her characters. Once I "met" Carrie, a young wife and mother, I felt a connection to her and the challenges she faces. This story is well-plotted, and my only complaint is that I'll need to read the next book in the series to see what happens to Carrie.
I finished book two in this series and I loved it as much as the first one. While the suspense wasn't as prominent in this book, the whodunit remains and I can't wait to find out who it is (although I have my suspicions). Once again, Ruth Watson is on point with humanizing her characters. I have fallen in love with Adam while hating Nadine but always looking forward to the appearance of Ginny. I can't wait to see what happens next!
This book reminds me of today’s life of a woman from the country who desires to have a better life other than that of a farmer and housewife. She desires to have her own goals in life but along the way she caught up in wondering eyes/hands. A web of confusing, lust and desire
Ah, Ruth Watson did it again! I was pulled into the story and kept reading it well into the night to find out what happened next. What a suspenseful ride of twists and turns! But darn it! I have to read the next book to find out what finally happens.
