Series: A Singular Obssession #5 (Stand Alone but Connected)
Ending: HEA
Re-read? Yes

“I’m not going to let anyone hurt you,” he whispered. Trick didn’t have a lot of practice destroying people, but for her, he could learn.

In book number 5 we get Patrick's story. After what he did during book #3 to save Ava, he deserves his own love! However, let me say, this story is batshiz crazy! Like, it's nuts! I don't know how or why Lucy Leroux went this super weird direction but I went along for the ride. It seemed so different than then other story lines in this series but I guess when you're on book 5 you need to find something new to happen. However, I like that the character's acknowledged what was happening was cray-cray. At the end I needed Patrick to shake things off a little more easily, he's a fun loving guy but pretty practical. The fact that he believed things he saw when he was super drugged up and couldn't seem to get over it for a week was a little weird. Just another great installment to this series. There's not much to say but if this series were an album and every book a song, they would all be bops!

After beating Trick in a game of poker, Tahlia spends a platonic night with him. The next morning she’s gone and he’s desperate to find her. Six months later he sees her picture in the most unlikely place and he’s frantic to find her, refusing to accept any kind of negativity as to the potential outcome of his search.

This was a very enjoyable read with a few twists and a bit of something extra that was the icing on the cake. There is quite a bit of external drama that drives this story as Trick and Tahlia, individually and together as a couple, try to protect her from those who pose a threat. It has suspense and mystery, visits from the couples in previous books, new characters, and plenty of steam.

The beginning dragged a tad due to their time apart but it never really felt bogged down. I was simply ready to see Trick and Tahlia together. Once they are a pair, this story truly takes off and doesn’t slow down at all.

So curious to see where this author is going to take the future books in this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Trick's Trap" is the story of Tahlia and Patrick.

Our h and H meet when she beats him at poker in a casino. Instantly taken by the gorgeous belle, our H chases her, only for her to disappear in thin air..
Soon the H realizes that she is the missing best friend to his closest friend's wife, and both begin a vigorous search for her, only to find her homeless and emaciated on the street.
Her rescue attempt is disrupted by multiple kidnapping attempts, but ultimately this couple find their HEA.

Super possessive hero, sweet traumatized heroine, some spooky demon activity, loads of sexy lovemaking, chase sequences, action and gore- all culminating in a happy ending!

Enjoyed it.

I've been looking forward to Trick's story and he didn't disappoint. I love how Tahlia wiped the floor with him in Poker and the way he responded to that. Instead of getting angry he fell for her right then and there. She leads him on a merry chase but he never gives up. That's what I love about this author. Her men are persistent, protective and possessive. My three favorite Hero characteristics! The story did take a bit of weird turn with her family that kept these two apart more than I would have liked but overall, I loved this couple and I really hope Peyton's story is next. I'm just not sure who her H is going to be. ARC provided by Author.

3.5 stars. If you've read Book 2: Calen's Captive, you'd remember this book's H and h. h had a terrible childhood and evil family. H was great and protective.

However, I almost lost patience at the beginning, maybe it was because I couldn't wait for H and h to got together sooner, or because I had no interest in poker games? I did enjoy the plot, but not as enjoyable as I read book 1 to book 3 of this series.

Still, I will wait for Liam' s story.

Trick’s Trap by Lucy Leroux is book 5 in the A Singular Obsession series. This is the story of Patrick ' Trick' and Tahlia. I have read the other books (and Loved Them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so.
Trick had met Tahlia at an underground gaming club where he was immediately attracted to her. But she kept trying to get away which she did end up doing. Trick went on to try an search for her but Tahlia had given him a false name. Now a month or so later he at a remembrance service for a women that has been missing who is best friends with one of his friends. There Trick realizes that the missing women is the same women is is after.
Tahlia is on the run from her dangerous uncle and cousins...they have even killed her father. But not wanting to bring danger to anyone else she has tried to stay hidden until she can't any longer. Trick isn't giving up and when he finds her...he doesn't want to ever let her go.
Loved this series and the book was great! Can't wait for more books from this author!!!

It was ok.....

I’ve read this entire series, I’m not sure Calen will ever be beaten and I’ve definitely liked other books more but it’s not a bad read. The author creates a Casino world and a woman on the run really well.

However I felt the romance really dragged in the first half but it picked up in the second.

Thalia comes from a Cult family, she’s at school, and staying there if she can by making money gambling. She’s in hisin* under another name.

Patrick, or Trick as he’s known to his friends, gets himself wiped out at the poker table. He’s intrigued & interested until the next day, she goes missing.

The hunt for her is on......

Both characters are enjoyable.

The second part of the book was very enjoyable. Love blossoms, secrets are revealed and everything finally comes together.

On a bright note, this author always leaves you wanting more from her supporting characters. I already counted three I need stories for now, Liam, (next book) Ethan (Yes, please) and Killian.

So, I won’t be giving up on this series anytime soon, lol.

I had mixed feelings about this one. I didn't like the beginning with such a lengthy description of the couple and almost stopped reading. However, once they were reunited, the H was pretty awesome. My biggest problem was with the story. I thought the h's family and their worshipping of the devil was too ridiculous. I didn't see them as a threat, especially, the kind that caused the couple so much trouble.

Romantic Suspense That Will Keep You Reading (or Listening)

Audiobook Review:
I love the complex world this author has created with not only the hero and heroine but also their friends and family (his). They feel so true to life in how they support and aggravate each other! I also love how this book teases about the next romance in the series. I don't read a lot of romantic suspense, but I do like a well written one every now and then, and I consider this one to be just that. The heroine is a fascinating combination of incredibly vulnerable because of the horrible family she was born into and remarkably resilient despite what she's faced her entire life because of them. We see her at her lowest low in the first part of this book, and the reader cannot help but wish for things to get better for her, and the sooner, the better. The hero is perfect for her, as he's so sweet and protective of her, even though they didn’t know each other before the book starts and he doesn't know the full extent of her history for quite a while. He becomes her solid ground in a scary and shifting world, and I loved watching his care for her and their interaction. I absolutely adored the secondary characters in this book as they are also so caring towards each other and so supportive of the heroine, even though, for some, she is new to their circle. The book is certainly steamy in a very delightful way. The hero's care and affection certainly translate into the bedroom, too. Even though he might be a little rough at times, he doesn't mean to hurt her intentionally in any way. I'm not wild about rough intimacy, but at least he doesn't mean to hurt her as some icky heroes do! If you enjoy well-written steamy romantic suspense, you will probably enjoy this book as much as I did.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Really solid storyline. 3.5 stars.

I’ve really enjoyed this series, with one minor exception (Maggie and Jason’s story was tepid and lacked intensity, had a weak emotional connection and just fell flat)— but so far, the stories have been well written, filled with passion and possession, dominant alpha heroes who find their virginal, innocent-yet-slightly damaged and endangered damsels who they claim. It’s an epic trope for a reason, as it tugs on primordial instincts.

This book followed the same general motif, but with a unique and exhilarating storyline. The heroine is on the run, with sinister forces only a few steps behind. was a unique. The hero is instantly captivated by her ability to kick his ass at cards and then proceeds to try and find her when she disappears into the night.

His frenzied and heartbroken search, her struggles to stay ahead of the villains had me on tenterhooks. 10 stars for that aspect of the story.

My one nitpicky complaint—and the reason I didn’t give this one 5 stars—was the gross use of condoms. Just NO in erotic romance. It’s a huge turn off to separate the hero from the heroine with an ugly, unnatural layer of latex, to keep him from sharing himself with her or being able to feel her all her intimate bits. It destroys the sense of connection and oneness. That was my major complaint with this book and had they not doused the fire of the sex scenes, which is kinda an important part of a romance, i would’ve given this one 5 stars

I have been waiting for Patrick's (Trick) book since Stolen Angel and for Tahlia's story since Calen's Captive. I'm so glad that I got both characters in one book! Trick's Trap was an amazing book from start to finish. At the start, Trick and Tahlia are playing poker and Tahlia is kicking Trick's butt! If you've read any other Singular Obsession books, then you know that Trick is an amazing player that rarely loses! He loses to Tahlia (she goes by Maia while playing) and is determined to get to know her better, but she is not interested and leaves. They eventually meet back up at Trick's hotel when she is passing through the lobby. We get a glimpse of the trouble following Tahlia and to escape, she goes to Trick's suite. By morning she is gone and we learn that her trouble has caught up to her. 6 months later, a memorial is being held by Tahlia by her friends at the hotel. Trick is unaware that Tahlia and Maia are one in the same. He eventually realizes it and he sets off to find her. They eventually meet back up and Tahlia reluctantly accepts his help. From there on, the mystery of Tahlia's past and family unravel. I won't give away details but it is an amazing, fast pace journey. This was another wonderful addition to this series and now I am eagerly waiting for Liam and Ethan's stories! I received an author's copy and I have left an honest review.

Trick's Trap is the fifth book in the Singular Obsession Series. I absolutely love this series as it has all the elements of a fabulous read. I cannot wait to read book six Peyton's Price in this captivating series. I absolutely love Patrick & Tahlia almost as much as my favourite pair Calen & Maia. Patrick & Thalia's character's & story stole my heart. This author turned it up a notch with this book as it pushes other books in the series back. This is close to being my favourite book in the series but Calen holds a special place in my heart. This novel is perfectly crafted with duo pov, a intriguing synopsis, a writing style that articulates the authors professional skills, compelling character's, intriguing narrative, quick page turner, fabulous plot & twist, sweet & sexy, and a all around perfect mix of ingredients to create a memorable read. I love the cameo appearances of character's from previous books in the series along with the old & new supporting character's. I absolutely highly recommend reading this novel & series as you will fall in love with this series & character's spectacular writing.

Trick meets his match in this sexy read that has all kinds of action and intrigue throughout the pages. Yes we have met the guys but Trick has always been a fly by the seat of his pants, sex em up and leave em wanting type of guy. Not mean or crude just not interested in more. By the time he realizes that the girl who has beat him in poker and disappeared is in real trouble and a connection to his group. These two are hot and fun. Trick has no idea what he’s in for. This is a great read loads of excitement and action and yes all about Trick (deep sigh) going all alpha and protector. Of course with his brother and their friends the alphas are out in full force.
Another great story in the series. I mean it’s always fun watching Alpha’s loose the s$it over a woman and meeting the women that tame them. Tahlia fits right in with this gang. She is strong, stubborn, independent and protects those she loves. Yes this is a standalone but why would you miss the other books in the series when they are this awesome.

Tahlia is on the run from her family when she meets Patrick (Trick) in a poker game where she is kicking his butt. Trick is majorly impressed with her as no one has beaten him so soundly in poker before. He doesn't want to let her get away and invites her back to his place, but she turns him down, so why is she with him that night? They have one platonic night together before she disappears and Trick can not forget her and works to find her. But Tahlia is running from some seriously scary people, her family, who want her for nefarious purposes. Will Trick find Tahlia before it is too late and can they keep each other safe from her family and their plans? This was a suspenseful romance read with a touch of paranormal. It is a great addition to the Singular Obsession series. I hope Liam gets a story soon and maybe the mysterious assassin too. I can not wait for more of Lucy Leroux's writing. The characters are real and interesting. This is one series I definitely re-read when possible.

Good narrator and quality recording. The narrator had a nice voice, and she fit the characters well. Recommend listening!

An entertaining, sweet and steamy romance! Good chemistry between Trick and Tahlia! Tahlia is on the run from her less than sane family; interesting idea with what Tahlia’s family is up to, but she did have a little time to have a moment with Trick before she’s on the run again. Trick has been searching for his mystery lady, when he discovers that the mystery lady is actually a good friend of one of his friends, and that his mystery lady is actually missing or presumed dead. Luckily, Trick and Tahlia come together again, and Trick tries to do everything he can to protect her. Both are likable characters; Tahlia does make some not so smart decisions at times, but I like that she stands up for herself. Trick is a total sweetie with a supportive, protective nature. Some fun suspense and action; plus, plenty of spice! Entertaining romance!

Trick and Tahlia are a match made in heaven. Trick is instantly attracted to her as she is beating him a poker game. One night together and then she is gone. Tahlia is on the run from her crazy family. However, all her family and friends think something bad has happened to her and most presume she is dead. Not giving up on finding the woman of his dreams, Trick pulls out all the stops to find the one woman for him.

Tahlia’s family is certifiably nuts! They are part of a demonic cult and will do anything and everything to get her back. Kidnapping, lies, assassin’s, twists and turns are plenty in this story! This was a little on the darker side and I have to say, I enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down! Looking forward to Payton’s and Liam’s story.

I have been impatiently waiting for Trick’s story for what feels like forever, and finally I have it. I wasn’t expecting it to tie back in to those couple of dangling plot threads left from ‘Calen’s Captive’ but I’m so glad it did. Trick has been one of my favorite characters since I first met him. His jovial, light-hearted exterior hides a man of great depths and passions. Tahlia seems to be a perfect partner for him. She’s quiet and studious to balance his more mercurial moods. She’s also resourceful with an inner strength that more than capable of standing up to the youngest Tyler brother when he’s gone full-out alpha dictator. This book has also hinted at an unexpected supernatural element that I’m curious to see where it takes us.

Tahlia and Trick (Patrick) meet playing poker. Hitting it off, they spend a platonic night together. Then poof, Tahlia disappears. Time goes by, and Trick finally sees her picture in an unexpected place, and he needs to find her. She is found: a couple of potential kidnapping and rough living conditions. A bit of suspense, lots of romance, and steamy hot scenes. I enjoyed this book. Trick is an alpha male: possessive and protective. The story is well written, and characters well developed. I like how characters from previous books in the series continue. Narrator is good. I enjoyed listening, and it flowed smoothly.

Is their love strong enough to save them?

Patrick has everything that he could want, other than the love of a good woman. He and his brother Luke, together with their sister Maggie, and her best friend Peyton, run a chain of family hotels, but his busy life still isn't enough to satisfy him. Tahlia hasn't had an easy life, her family don't really want her around, but they won't let her go either. When she bumps into Patrick at a card game, is this only the beginning of their love affair, or will it be the end? Are they strong enough to face their demons together, or will it only tear them apart? This book was a pleasure to read, the characters are so well-written. I loved losing myself in their journeys for a few hours.

The storyline was a bit OTT for me. It was OK. Took quite a while for them to get together and Is seemed repetitive.

I have been looking forward to the Liam/Peyton book (the next) but at the end of this book is the cover and blurb for their book and ... there are 2 men at the cover. Seems Liam is not as alpha as I thought and will share Peyton. Not my cup of tea and very disappointing as it doesn't fit this series of singular obsession. Maybe the author ran out of ideas.

End of the line for me.

Strangely different!!

I love reading books by Lucy Leroux. The Singular Obsession Series is one of my favorite. This book was strangely different. The ups, downs, plot twists were similar to her other books, but seemed different. I did not like the devil worship tossed in. I am planning to purchase Peyton's book, but if she keeps going to the dark side I will stop buying. Very disappointed with the book. Her book have always been read in one day. This book took weeks.

Trick and Tahlia meet at and underground game and when she beats him in poker he becomes intrigued by her. When she disappears, Trick is on the hunt to find out what happened to her. When he finds her again she is homeless and accepts Trick’s help will her family intervene? Fast paced read with plenty of drama and suspense. I really liked the story and the characters. A Good Read!

What I love about this story is that it's both intriguing and page turning, yet I can still set it down, walk away, pick it back up a few days later and I'm both still engrossed and haven't fallen out of the story rhythm nor forgotten any key points. It has cute scenes, sexy scenes, serious scenes and just the perfect balance of drama and "awww".

Across the poker table, Patrick “Trick” Tyler meets the woman he’s going to marry. But Talia is not as she seems. I loved Trick’s devil-may-care attitude and Talia’s brains (along with her ability to beat Trick at poker!). This story has some wild twists, exciting adventures and daring escapes, making for a great read. As a listen, it’s even better - Avie Page does a fantastic job!
