My books are not "safe reads". You've been warned.

Surviving on caffeine most days, Tracie Douglas lives in Louisiana with her husband, two children and fur baby. She spends her days chasing children and the fur baby, all while maintaining the illusion of sanity.

Her nights are spent toiling away at the keyboard, creating a world filled with hot men and strong women. She loves to read and write all types of book but tends to lean on the darker side of the spectrum. She’s pretty handy with a crochet hook too.

Tracie loves to hear from her readers!

Lost In The Shadows was a great read. With the worst kind of villains and the best kind of hero.

This book definitely has some dark situations in it, but the hero and heroine stand out in this one.
Damien was determined, he was protective and he was all around a stand up guy wanting to bring down the bad guys. When he meets Penelope, it's not flowers and roses instead its danger and despair and I couldn't stop reading.

There are some truly heartbreaking moments in this book along with some moments that will make your heart skip a beat. Damien has his own demons to fight and I will say that my heart broke for him. Penelope that girl had some strength, she was a fighter and the perfect compliment to Damien.

A few twists in this book hit me when I least expected and I will say this. Sometimes a villain is created from something so innocent but at the end of the day are they truly evil or a victim of terrible circumstances... You'll have to read this to find out what I mean.

Overall I thought this book was great, and if you are a fan of romance reads that have a darker situation around them then I definitely suggest this book.

My head and heart is in a spin

I have absolutely loved this series so far (in the hope that there is more to come!).
I have loved these beautifully broken men who fall hard and fast for the special women in their life's. Women who have experienced traumas of their own. They each believe that they do not deserve the light that these amazing women bring to their lives and each if them broke my heart a little more than the last.....but this......this book I think completely broke me before carefully trying to put the pieces back together.
Dizzy hides behind a facade, one he thinks his friends don't see through but they do....just like Penny does. It's not your usual moonlight and roses courtship. He is protective mode from the get go and can't explain the connection he feels and under the circumstances neither can she. But it's there and both are reluctant to let it go. My. Heart! Honest to goodness!! These two! I think this is my favourite of the series.....so far!

HOLY CRAP!! HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS SERIES?! Lost in the Shadows is the third book in the Lost Series, and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC. I don't know WHAT I was expecting when I started this book, but I am absolutely captivated by Tracie Douglas and her amazing writing skill, and the story she was able to weave. Reading the first two books in the series probably would have been helpful (getting on that ASAP) but it wasn't necessary for me. There's enough background, without giving too much away, for this to be read as a standalone.

This book released today (April 9th) and HOLY CRAP is it good! Not just good but INCREDIBLE. If you're looking for a dark romance, you need this book. Dizzy, or Damien, left me absolutely heartbroken in his resolute determination that he was too broken for Penny. Dizzy is on a dark mission, one that took nine months to complete, that left him even worse than when he started. He is fragmented emotionally, and tries to deny his immediate reaction to Penny(spoiler: his reaction is mine). Even before he comes to terms with Penny, and her role in his life, he doesn't want anyone to touch her or look at her.

Penelope, or Penny, was sold by her stepfather to sex traffickers. Due to her virginity, she reaches a higher price. This leads her to meeting the beautifully broken Damien. But, he's undercover so she believes she's just been sold to her owner, and she's not sure what to make of it. When she learns the truth of who Damien is, she vows to make him let her in past his walls, and see they could be wonderful together. She wants to heal him, but she stands by his side giving him the strength to do that.

They heal each other, and it is so wonderful and amazing that I am trying not to cry. This is a dark romance, which I think is obvious with the theme of the book. It is suspenseful, thrilling, and has plot twists GALORE. I was halfway through the book thinking it was almost over, since Damien decided to go all alpha on Penny, when I realized HOLY CRAP THERES MORE.

I'm saying holy crap a lot... but that was my literal reaction to about half of what transpired in this book. I absolutely ADORED this novel, and will be going back to read the others in the series, if only because that epilogue was great and I need more.

Tracie, you've got me talking in run on sentences. How dare you. In my humble opinion, this is so much more than 5 stars, it should be 10. I love it. I love Tracie. BRB, I'm going to go stalk her on social media.

GO GET THIS BOOK!! Did I mention the series is free on Kindle Unlimited?

Damien is so stuck in the shadows, he thinks he is undeserving of love and family. Then in the most unlikely of places, he finds an angel. Penny has been sold into slavery by her stepfather and has changed hands several times. Fortunately she is very valuable as a virgin. Damien immediately makes a play to keep her for himself but only to get her to safety. Before they know it, things go sideways and he cannot bring himself to let her go. But the evil that meant to destroy Penny isn't through with her or Damien. Will Penny and Damien finally get their chance at happy?

This was the first book by Tracie Douglas I have had the pleasure to read. I didn't know how attached I would get to Penny and Damien in a short amount of time. At one point, I had to walk away from the book as I was terrified that the danger was too great, that Damien and Penny wouldn't make it. I couldn't bear it if things went worse for them. I am so happy to have found a new author to follow. Ms Douglas does a great job of making this book a standalone but I will be checking out the first two as soon as possible.

The Dizzy persona he has adopted to help him through life wont help him now. Now he's Tony, that is until he is Damien. Wearing so many hats gets exhausting but first he has to make it through the assignment. . . alive. This series is amazing and so is this authors ability to tell a tale so emotional and intense with these the perfect characters is just awesome sauce. Penny is not what you expect. After what she has narrowly avoided to be with Tony and be as much a help to his healing as she is to hers. The struggle is real and when she finds family in an unexpected place it all comes together for her. The passion is intense just like these two characters who bring out the best in each other.

This series was my first exposure to this author and it was a beautiful thing. I love the way her characters are cracked yet until they find that woman use that alpha crazy to protect and save. The guys are intense and these women through their pain and rescue not only find healing but help their men to heal as well. Whatever it takes to keep them happy and safe.

Title: Lost in the Shadows
Author: Tracie Douglas
Genre: Contemporary Adult Romance with Triggers

I didn't think I would like this book but it was a pretty good book. There are triggers so be warned. I was a tad disappointed the author glossed over the sexual abuse Penny endured. You get the impression and then when it is confirmed it is glossed over. That abuse is a big part of who she is. It is a big part of the story. Yes she was technically a virgin but she was still abused and then sold. Then she easily made love to Damien. I would think the girl would be a bit more timid in that area but I am not a psychologist. Also, she has younger siblings, and she doesn't know the symptoms of pregnancy? She helped raise her siblings so she was around when her mom was pregnant.

But it wasn't all bad. It had a nice plot twist I did not see coming and I usually can predict most storylines. So my hat is tipped to the author for such a nice plot twist. Not going to tell ya cause I don't want to spoil it.

Overall a decent read.

Have you ever read a book that made you want to bust out in song while crying at the same damn time??? Yeah.... that was me with this one. This was my first read from Tracie and I can’t believe how hard she’s rocked my soul. Dizzy and Penelope were phenomenal like I don’t think I’ve falling in love with a couple this hard since my 1st Kristen Ashley book. This story is hard and it’s gritty but the love and fight that the characters go through is literally a masterpiece. I don’t know where Tracie Douglas has been hiding all my life but I definitely need more of her. If you love a great story that has passion, is a quite frankly dark but worth it, and absolutely soul touching this is the one for you. You won’t be disappointed.

Holy Hell this book was the best so far forbthis series. Each book keeps getting better and better. In the previous books there was some dark subject matter that was covered. But this one has the darkest subjects.
I was sucked in from page one. I just wanted to grab Penny and hide her away to keep her safe. And Damien, well you feel what he is struggling with internally from the start. These two are both damaged, but they both are survivors. It takes them finding each other and giving into their feelings for each other, for them to finally find the way out of the shadows and to live.

Great read!

I loved Dizzy. He was so well written. Penny was a little off for me as a young woman who leaves another country and has no accent and is so mouthy after what she's been through. The pace just goes a little fast for what seems to need more time for the transformation of Penny to the girl she is.

My first book from Tracie Douglas and will not be the last! This book had me crying, smiling, sobbing and shouting! It had everything, two broken souls finding solace and light in each other was captured perfectly, and the story was so amazingly written, yes it’s quite dark but so so worth it!!

Wow, what a roller-coaster.

I laughed
I cried
I had my heat broken
And put back together again.

And all of that in the span of the first 25% of the book.

A beautiful story with heartbreaking characters, that come to life right before your eyes. Bring on the next book.

Loved this kind of backwards romace story

This being the 3rd book in the series I recommend reading the first 2 because not only are they good too but you have a better understanding of the story at the beginning and of the other characters in it. This story is about Penelope and Damien. We are all shaped by our past and it plays a big part in the emotional issues these chahave in this story. This is also not your typical romance story as in that it starts out being thrown together. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more from her.

Lost in the shadows

I couldn't figure out why this was not a 5 star book with all the great reviews. The story line was great, the execution not so much. There are so many errors it becomes distracting. Many misspelled words (thier, poor instead of pour) and lots of words missing completely. If that type of stuff doesn't bother you, you'll probably like this book.

Amazing

By far the best one of the series! I fell in love with Penny and Dizzy right away. The first book to make me cry and laugh at the same time. I am looking forward to the next one!

Lost in the Shadows

This book is filled with darker material that if written any other way than the author did may have been too much to handle. Tracie Douglas crafted a world in her Lost series that leaves the reader satisfied to the final page.

Lost in the Shadows by Tracie Douglas is book 3 in The Lost Series, a crime family romantic suspense series.
This was a great read, I don't tend to read a lot of mafia or family books but as this one was more about the victims then the mob family, I enjoyed reading it. Even though it is part of a series with interlocking characters, it can be read as a standalone.
I loved so much about this book, The espionage, the cat and mouse games, it has awesome plot twists and some great characters.
It's well written and the story arc is entertaining with some hot scenes and some emotional baggage.
I voluntarily reviewed this reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
