My take is this; Having skin in the game keeps you honest. Not having skin in the game breeds the opposite. With something to lose you have something to fight for. The ones who take the risks are the ones who run the show. Risk is best summed up as Taleb puts it in a quote from Warren Buffet, "You must survive in order to make money". In other words, take smart risks, ones where you stand to gain wisely, just not ones where you risk survival.
