Losing power was only the beginning, now one couple must work together to survive
James and Marla Weller are preparing for a relaxing weekend, when an unexpected blackout spreads far beyond their St. Louis suburb and starts a devastating chain reaction. But the disabled power grid was only the beginning of a national nightmare as their vehicles and cell phones won’t function either. A series of building explosions rock downtown, leading to a mandatory evacuation. Amid the chaos, the young couple must make a decision on where to go. A possible solution emerges when a self-proclaimed survivalist offers them refuge in his remote cabin far from the city and away from the chaos. But James and Marla soon discover that survival isn’t as clear as they think, and that escape can lead to dangers all its own. The intense, real-world disaster thriller beings with Hideaway: Book One!
Spoiler alert. Larry should know better than to bring quasi liberals with him. That said. Loved the book. Didn't realize this book just came out. Now I have to wait forever for the next book!
Good story line with a lot of added suspense. Was easy to finish the book fast. Only problem I add was that the book was not proofed properly and it was very annoying to see so many errors. Took away from the story line.
Hideaway Book 1 is an exciting post apocalyptic story written by author Roger Hayden. These people are unusually inept and naive for these type of stories.
This got so much better than the prequel and you could get really into the series and the two different types of characters on one side. They are so different but circumstances have brought them together. It is building into a good series. I hadn't listened to books by this author before and I quite liked it - this is so much better than the prequel. The narration worked well.
The charactors are still not well known enough, I dont feel any thing for them. It seems like james and carol were boasting more than actually really ready. But whos to say h o w far along you would be along if you were trying to keep things on the downlow. Its to bad the prison is so close, but the best laid plIns of mice and men as the sYing goes. I will look for the next parts of the story.best of luck. You have peaked my interested.
A lot of wrong or missing words. A lot of letters wrong. Too many for me to overlook. For me to have enjoyed it there. Needed to be a lot more character development. I am not a writer, but an avid reader. This could have been more to my liking but missed the dock for me.
The fall of society from the viewpoint of regular people - not super spy's or soldier's - after an EMP attack from an unknown enemy leaves everyone unprepared, a couple embark on an adventure to survive in a land without rules... Get ready for the unexpected!
Are u kidding?? Convicts would not let the men live.. Get in the real world.
You are not living in the real world..bad men do bad things .. I'm your cliff hanger ending is not believeable.. The men would have been killed in the situation u potrayed
This is a well written book with lots of twist and turns. My only complaint is it's such a short read. Put all the three books together in the series and it would make one awesome book.
