This was more like a stilted first chapter of a book, but not a book. It was disappointing to say the least.

This was a short quick read from an author that I haven't read before. Carter goes to the local swimming pool every day. One day he meets Frank and is attracted. They meet each day and the attraction grows. This story takes place over a week. They go out on a date after Frank doesn't show up and have a nice time. This was a okay beginning to this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Carter swims every morning early... every morning the same lane... every morning all the routine... all by himself
Until that one Monday... he runs into a big older stud... just Carter's type.. a real daddy bear...

Carter has a vivid imagination. His wants his dreams come true, but being a bit shy..... When Frank approached him he is in heaven.

Told from Carter's pov. We get a glimpse of his personality and what he shows is all very likable
Two hot guys in a short sexy erotic story. Hot fantasy and hot reality encounters.
Written in a way that makes you curious about what gonna happen next...
The story has an open end so it can go every side...
I really hope there will be more and they continue their contact. I want to know all about them.

This story takes place over a week, with Carter meeting Frank in the swimming centre.
They first meet when Carter bumps into Frank and Carter notices what a sexy huge older bear Frank is. Carter's always wanted to be with a Daddy Bear.
As the week progresses they share stolen glances at each others naked bodies in the shower and changing rooms. Towards to end of the week they are swimming lengths together and showering when Frank moves towards Carter and they share their first sexual experience.
When Frank doesn't show the following day Carter is upset, he does his lengths and heads home. As he's walking over the car park he hears someone calling his name, its Frank sat in his car. They arrange a date, outside of the swimming pool, for later that day. After having drinks and pizza Frank ask's Carter back to his home, after going to bed together and both getting what they need he sends Carter home. Frank says he can't make the pool the next day but will be there Monday.

A good quick read, but my thinking is that Frank will not show up again!

Hmmm... this is a toughie to rate - it had potential but didn’t quite deliver. It was certainly hot, and whilst I got Carters PoV, Franks never came through, and the ending wasn’t really an ending - it just stopped. I turned the page expecting there to be the next chapter but nothing. I liked the layout of one day a week, but first-person present tense isn’t my cup of tea. Would be interested in a longer take from this author though.

2.5. Short but hot part 1 of a serial re a Daddy bear and the man who hopes to be his lover/boy. It's written in present tense which isn't my favorite, and feels a bit porntastic with all the 'cock stiffening' going on, but it hit my Daddy kink spot! Writing is a bit simplistic and that's amplified because it's so short but my heart is aching for Carter, who wants more than Frank seems to be offering. On to Book 2!

This is a combined review for books 1 & 2 in this series as I read them both at the same time and each is pretty short.

Another HOT series from BJ Smyth.

I've not read many daddy-kink stories, and they aren't really a favorite trope, but when the author asked me if I'd like to read these two books I thought, why not? I really enjoyed BJ Smyth's David series and I also enjoyed these first two books in his Daddy Bear series.

These are very short reads and they are pretty smoking hot and titillating; perfect for reading right before bedtime. You really need to read them in order and there will be more coming. While neither one of these exactly ends on a cliffhanger, both of them will leave you wanting to read more about the relationship between Carter and Frank.

I'm looking forward to reading more stories about these two.

I liked this story. It's a short read but the tension builds each day. I like that only the swimming time is covered for the week with Saturday culminating in more as well as a release. I liked Frank's confidence. I liked Carter's insecurity and how his attraction grows. I look forward to reading more of them.

In the book "Daddy Bear" we have two of my favorite kinks. Daddies and age-gap. This quick book gives us an introduction in to the lives of Carter and Frank. I'm ready for the rest of this ride.

I realize this is just a glimpse into the life of Carter and Frank. Where they met at the recreation center, and how their friendship/relationship begins. The age gap of 20 years is ok but Carter seems immature and daydreams a lot. Frank is just coming out of a relationship and recently moved to a new city. I am interested to see where this goes, so getting ready to read the next book.

This story is sexy, intriguing, steamy and with love at first sight. Cater and Frank attraction was instant however insecurities are taking over Carter. This ends in a cliff hanger. Can't wait to read the next book.

Short but sweet

The blurb doesn't really match this short installment. We, thankfully, don't get any of the manipulative ex of Frank's and there very little toxicity from Carter's roommate. I don't doubt that those things are planned to be in the whole story for Carter and Frank, but I certainly am not disappointed by their absence in this part.

That said, this is really a nice bit of erotica where Carter meets a dream Daddy at the place where he swims. The much older Frank is nice enough for Carter to instantly put him in the starring role of some sexual fantasies, but it takes a few days to make sure Frank isn't straight or likely to reject Carter. Even then, he waits for Frank to make the first move.

This is a very well-written novella with two very likable main characters. It ends rather abruptly, though, adding to the walk of shame vibes as the installment closes. I'm reading on hopeful that the quality will continue for the story, but fearful that the evil ex trope is going to pop up at some point and ruin everything because I HATE that trope.

Frank is older, is a bit confused by his feelings for his ex, is dealing with his mother's deteriorating health and is looking for a new start and not a new relationship. After a chance meeting at the pool, their attraction is undeniable. Can they build a relationship with the complications of a toxic flatmate and manipulative ex-partner, neither of whom wants them to succeed?

This was a very short story which is spread over a number of books to tell the whole story. There wasn't any detail of the backgrounds or relationships in either of their lives, just descriptions of their attraction and encounters in the showers at the swimming pool and after a date. This is an MM story with mature content.

My first read of this author and I’m pretty certain it won’t be my last!
This was a short read that introduced us to Carter and Frank- the daddy bear in the story... it takes place over about a week and shows the development of their attraction from the subtle glances, gentle touches to a little more, well ok then a lot more and it was as erotic as hell!
The writing was very good, clear, concise and well written. It was descriptive when it needed to be and I just loved the build up to the actual act and I’m very much looking forward to see what happens to Carter and Frank going forward... I’m sure there’s more drama and uncertainty to come.

Carter is 22, smooth and swims daily to keep fit. He swims every morning at the local center, before it gets busy, and usually has the mens changing rooms to himself. Then he bumps into Frank, an older daddy bear who starts swimming as well. There's a quick, mild infatuation for a few days before Frank initiates things, and things happen in the changing room.

The prose was pretty poor. A lot of "I did this" or "He did that" sentence structures, with almost no variation. It runs repetitive as well, and the dialogue was so awkward. I think there's a gem of a solid story here, it just needs a lot more editing to be more readable.

Two stars.

3.5 Stars A short story both guys wanting and searching for their dream man. But do they get what they want at the ending.. A big question to what happens next after they hookup. Carter was adorable in this but I'm still deciding about Frank's actions at the ending.
Carter 20 yrs loves swimming to keep fit early in the mornings. He definitely wasn't expecting another guy to turn up so early.
Frank 45 yrs is new in town. The pair slowly get hookup over a week.

I liked it. Short, hot, and kept me turning pages. Felt sad for Carter. Not a fan of first person but I'm branching out and the story sounded interesting. I got to see more of Carter as it's in his point of view so now I have to read the next one which will be no hardship as I'm sure I'll enjoy it as much or more. I'm looking forward to seeing how Frank feels and their progression together. Rooting for Carter to find his daddy bear!

Perfect short erotic piece. Lots of stunning buildup and plenty of innuendo. All leads to a steamy conclusion with a hook left for a possible follow up. As always with B.J. the characters are clearly defined and well written in very few words. I for one hope there is a follow up.

Such a good steamy short. I liked the way the story progressed. I need more of Frank and Carter. They seem good and cute together. I kept waiting for something crazy or shocking to happen..but it didn't. It was a sexy short. I'd love to read a continuation of their sexy story. Well written.

This story as usual for the author is right up my alley.... This writer never disappoints. His story is short and HOT, albeit too short for me, as I just wish it would continue. It leaves you wanting more...a lot more. The author has a way of cutting to the chase and quickly getting “hot and heavy” into the story. This is a big thumbs up!

An interesting beginning

I found some of the dialogue redundant at times. The story was very interested and kept me reading through to the end. I wished the sex scenes would have been more elaborate, instead of "then this happened."

It sort of reminded me the old school gay readers and pulps from the early 90s.

Good story

Good start to series although I'm not a huge fan of first person present tense. Set in England, Carter is totally onboard with getting to know the new hot Daddy that has joined his swim club. His patience pays off.
