The Planet Chomper is a unique story in which we see a planet chomper eating all of the planets in its quest to feel full but it soon learns that he will get a fuller feeling from kindness and friendship rather than being selfish and eating everyone.
I was unsure where this story was going as we were reading it but I think the key message at the end made it a very fun and worthwhile read. It was nice to see the biggest planet helping the planet chomper rather than just thinking of itself as it showed understanding and empathy for how the planet chomper was feeling.
The illustrations in the book are fun with most of the pictures being just the planets and the planet chomper but with the colourful planets and emotions you can see in the planet chomper it makes the way the pictures are shown particularly effective.
This is a lovely book to show the feeling of friendship, it would have been nice to have the names of the planets to help the children learn some but it was a fun story with a great message regardless!

In his book, The Planet Chomper, Thomas Hautaniemi tackles an everyday subject, bullying in a highly creative and educational way. Chomper is an unusual character. His quest for power and possession confronts his own "reasoning" and his enlightenment is the outcome. Funny and educational with a lesson most politicians could benefit from.

I enjoyed this book. I liked its message a lot.
It is about a hungry Chomper - he only knows the pleasure of eating the planets of the universe and nothing more. Until one day a really big, old planet teaches him how much better it feels to be friends with the planets instead of eating them. The book is very fun and clear - helping kids understand how love and sharing are so much more fulfilling than just wanting to take everything for oneself.
The illustrations are nice and fun as well.

Cute and Unique
I greatly enjoyed this book. The illustrations were cute and vibrant. The story was a unique way of giving the age old lesson on the need of friends and how to treat them right. It has the “do unto others” mentality and even an essence of not bullying. It is a cute and fun way to emphasize these points with your child.

Cute Story!
This is a story that will keep a child’s attention. The bright illustrations are fun. This is a story that tells not only of a big planet eating chomper, but why he feels the need for doing this. In the end, it is all about loving ones self and loving others.
