In elementary school, Tristan Vick once wrote about an alien which came to earth and ate his all of his classmates. His teacher made him tear it up and write a *different more egalitarian story. Apparently, being the sole survivor of the alien attack wasn't egalitarian enough. Now he writes horror, post-apocalytpic, survival, sci-fi, western, erotica, thriller, romance novels and he's not afraid of mixing his genres either.
Tristan Vick is the Author of the zombie/survival/horror series BITTEN: RESURRECTION published by Winlock Press, and exciting new imprint of Permuted Press.
He is also the author of The Scarecrow & Lady Kingston: Rough Justice, also through Winlock Press, which follows the story of a magical scarecrow that joins the LAPD.
This year (2016) Tristan Vick will release three exciting science fiction novels through his self-owned publishing imprint Regolith Publictions, including Robotica: Ultra Heavy, a cyber punk novel, Exoverse: Invasion of the Draugr, a dark sci-fi horror with ancient astronaut and alien conspiracies, and Little Red Gauntlet, a steam punk fairy tale re-telling of the beloved Little Red Riding Hood fable.
Tristan Vick graduated from Montana State University with degrees in English Literature and Asian Cultural Studies. He speaks fluent Japanese and lives with his wife and kids in Japan. When he's not commuting on the train or teaching English, he spends his time reading, writing, blogging, and eating sara udon.

“The Chronicles of Jegra: Gladiatrix of the Galaxy” is the first of four books featuring the bikini-clad champion of the arena Jegra. This is the only book currently available as an audiobook, which is a shame, because the narration is as fun as the terrific campy sci-fi adventure!
I highly recommend you read the prequel (“origin of Jegra”) before listening to this story, so you understand Jegra’s origin as Jessica, and how she became Jegra.
This is a fantastically entertaining story, with lots of fun and interesting characters, love, lust, betrayal and overall fast-paced fun!
Jegra does have hetero sex, but seems to enjoy her girl-girl liaisons even more; I know I did!
Highly recommended, and I hope the other three books in the series are released on audible soon! 5*
I honestly didn’t know what to think going into this. The first few scenes are pretty obviously written by a guy. I thought “oh good, is this what I’m getting myself into?” but they did ease up a bit as the story progressed. That’s not to say that this isn’t still a funny and enjoyable book – just know if you’re going into it thinking that there will be a powerful woman you’re only partly right. After the opening scenes, I decided to go through some of the reviews (with titles like “A fun sexy space opera” and ‘An epic adult sci-fi fantasy”). They quickly helped me realize that this was going to be Sci-Fi sex comedy (think Road Trip or American Pie with battle scenes and in space).
I feel like Vick tried to write this book to be almost hyperbole when it came to the female perspective. There is an already large endowed woman, who once is put on “alien steroids” as she comes to call them turns into an even more so endowed woman. She talks about how she fights in basically no clothing since it just gets damaged and limits her range of motion (and the ratings go up when she fights like this). So, going into it knowing it was going to be stylized like this – made the book much more enjoyable for me. If I’d gone into it with a different point of view this would have been a different review from me.
I liked where the story felt like it was going. It had that space comedy appeal to it while also having some epic great space opera moments going on with some fantasy/alien worlds thrown in. I would say it’s a combination of that with some sprinkles of male-written “romantic” scenes that always seemed to get interrupted as to either keep this similar to Cinemax late night or to just keep it from being over-the-top “adult”.
I thought that Vick was able to build great characters and worlds. He knows how to write action as well – there were times (especially early on) that it was no-holds-barred and then other times where the action was perfectly strung out to keep the suspense up.
I really flew through this book. Vick throws a ton of words at you (I’m not sure of the final word count, but the book is 438 pages according to Amazon). I thought Veronica James did a great job performing this book. She really became the different characters (especially Jegra). She allowed Vick’s words to come to life and really took this from just a story to a real performance.
Gladiatrix of the Galaxy is a 'what you see is what you get' kind of read. In the world of judging a book by its cover, go right ahead here.
If I am honest, I requested this book back when I felt happy to request to review a book without much reading the blurb. The cover looked fun and colourful and that had me sold. Plus, in an audio format for me is always a winner in my eyes.
The storyline was okay, 'normal girl gets abducted by aliens, injected with something and made strong, now lives as a slave' and it grew pretty quickly into what felt like a fairly basic middle aged man's fantasy of girl on girl action, adventurous sexual activities and well, let’s just say that it got old fairly quickly and it felt like it was more there for the sake of it than to add any kind of depth or intrigue to the story. If you don’t have a vivid and detailed imagination though and this sounds like your thing, then I recommend it for sure.
The book flies fairly quickly with the action and sex filled nature of it, meaning that despite its length it feels fairly quick to read and it is written well despite what I may have said above!
I wasn't exactly connected to any of the characters, but Jegra is a strong woman heroine and so that gets bonus points from me. Characters are also LGBTQ+ diverse, which is really nice to read, although it did feel slightly as though it was there for the fantasy of it all, more than giving any kind of voice to the characters.
Unfortunately, this only gets two stars from me, and I probably won't be reading any further. I do think the covers for this one and the others are really fun though, and would look nice on shelves!

I was expecting this to be much better than it was. It said that fans of certain types of classic science fiction would like it. Since I grew up reading those books I thought I would like it. And at the start I did get a certain feel in common with those books.
But it started to read like something written by a teenage boy. The preoccupation with sex comes across really strong. After a while, it becomes sex and bodily functions. It is well written but still feels very juvenile.
Some things that never made sense were advanced, space-faring cultures whose entertainment fighters still wore metal armor. There is a very strong 'chicks in chainmail' feel to it. Why is the god of the one alien race a monster from Chamber's The King in Yellow? Why are these planets who think Earth is an insignificant backwater planet named after place locations on Earth?
The farther I read, the more the characters sounded like mutant heroes from the comic books. Eventually, it felt like the author was just trying to cram as much action, sex, and bodily functions into the book as possible to the detriment of the story itself. The more I read the less I cared about the characters. Usually a bad thing to have happen in a book.
The writing itself wasn't horrible and if the author could have tightened up the story and had it sound less like a teenage boy giggling over girl on girl sex and girls peeing in front of people there is potential for a much better book in there.
An epic sci-fi fantasy primed for the adult genre so be aware! Sold by a slave trader to the emperor of the Dagron Empire, the human Jegra becomes the reknowned champion gladiatrix of the arena as well as the emperor's sometime lover. A vicious unpredictable emperor who marries Jegra for her powerful genetics, but not before she is locked in a huge room with his other sixteen wives and forced to battle them to be the lone survivor. He marries her and then trades her to the enemy Nyctans to form a temporary treaty. But the Nyctans seer has prophesized her coming while her violent husband turns her into a martyred dead empress. There is so much going on in this story and I am virtually glued to each page! Lots of action, deadly confrontations and steamy m/f, f/f and f/m/f lovings. This is a longer read than I normally indulge in but I am definitely into this story. Looking forward to reading the next book!

Our heroine is a simple librarian, kidnapped from Earth and transformed into a mighty gladiatrix, destined to rule the galaxy.
This is B-movie SF cheese at its best. We have over-the-top action, snarky dialog and lots of violence and sex. Neither the violence or sex are really graphic, which I consider a good thing (at least with the violence). The story goes non-stop with lots of twists and turns, including alliances and betrayals. And yes, we do lose some characters along the way.
Overall, I thought the story was well written and engaging. While it didn't keep me up past my bedtime, I definitely was looking forward to the next chapter as soon as I could get back to it. A very entertaining read.
Highly recommended.

This book is the story of Jessica, stolen from Earth and how she becomes Jegra, the best gladiator of the empire..She goes from a rags to riches sort of girl. Which she would love is only everyone was not trying to kill her, even her husband ! This book is tragic at times, and other times is a good comedy. The sex is especially good after winning a battle. This story is fast paced and well written.

I love Jegra, from the moment she finds herself kidnapped and sold to the arena. Jegra fights to become who she is. Lover, fighter, loyal friend, Jegra is all this and more. Loads of fun and I can't wait for the next adventure. Woohoo what a ride!
Spaceballs meets Spartacus. Full of action and plenty of space battles. The heroine, Jegra, is a slave turned Emperess. This is one of the few books I have read that the girl doesn't really need saved much. She is the hero of the story. I can't wait to see what happens next.
