Humanity teeters on the edge... Max prepares to battle Ke Tau, a brutal killer who hungers for ultimate power, but his efforts are hampered by dwindling supplies and the ever-present threat of the undead. With morale at an all-time low, the camp's inhabitants will have to stand together and face their fears if they wish to survive.
In a different part of the country, Logan and Nadia team up with Martin, an old friend of Max's. Now the leader of a burgeoning town, Martin is eager to see his friend once more and establish an alliance. They set off across the breadth of South Africa, but will they arrive in time to help? Or will everything they hope for be gone already?
All it takes is one mistake... As night falls across the African veldt, darkness threatens those who struggle to survive within its cold embrace. With the dawn of a new era, humanity's last hope rests in the hands of ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things.

This is the third installment of the Dangerous Days series and the climax of the story to bring the confliction to a head. Those that deserve it, get what's coming to them, but also those that don't.
I love this author's writing and the characters that she develops and how they behave in such a situation. Seeing it from a few characters perspectives allows us to see the whole story.
However, there is a small but... I did wish for a bigger ending with more action, more teeth, more deaths. I think it's what is expected with this subgenre. It was a climax, don't get me wrong, I just would have loved it to be on a larger scale. I'm scoring this 4.5 and rounding up to 5 for that very reason. You will enjoy the whole series as the characters are lovable, you become attached to them, and the challenges they face are riveting, so I highly recommend you read these if you like the post-apoclyptic zombie genre.
Logan and Nadia have been through a lot. After Nadia found out that she's a carrier of the virus they've been very cautious. They went from town to town until they finally find a peaceful place to stay with Martin and his group. When an old friend of Nadia arrives as well they can't hide Nadia's secret any longer. They also need to team up with other survivors to fight off a brutal group of malicious men. At Logan's previous camp, Max is struggling to keep everything going and now that a war is at hand he needs all the help he can get. Can they survive an attack of vicious killers?
Ke Tau and his group won't back down for anyone. They thrive on fear and pain and all they want is total control. They've been killing the men who won't obey their commands and are using the women to serve their every need. Inside their camp a rebellion is slowly forming. Ke Tau has found Max's camp and wants to take over by using force. Max has women and children inside his walls and they all need to think fast to come up with a way to win this war. Will help arrive in time, so they can gain enough strength in these desperate times?
Now that the world has fallen apart, the walking dead are not the only ones to fear. Malicious groups are after complete control and the kindhearted people who have survived this long are in for the fight of their lives. I loved to read more about the people who have lost so much already and still manage to make a living. They're there for each other every day without judgment. Ever since Last Another Day, the first book in the Dangerous Days series, I've given them a special place in my heart and have been anxiously wishing for them to survive.
Live Another Day is a heart rending story about the dangers that are lurking in the shadows. It's full of action, but it also shows how much the survivors of both camps care about one another. Every single book in this series has kept me on the edge of my seat. Baileigh Higgins writes with so much passion that the feelings of the main characters radiate off the pages. I've literally held my breath several times out of fear of what would happen next. The Dangerous Days series is absolutely brilliant and is a definite must-read if you love to read zombie stories that will chill you to the bone.
I read the first book in this series - I did not pay for any of them as I have kindle unlimited - and loved it so I got the rest to read. Book 4 - SPOILER ALERT!! If this was a print book it would have been a waste of trees. The book goes along and has you liking the characters, and disliking others, so far so good. They introduce a bad guy who is planning to attack and take over their colony as they are the last hold outs in the area. They have 2 runs ins with him that are minor although deadly for a minor character or two. NOW THE BIG BATTLE IS COMING - AT A TIME WHENTHEIR BEST SOLDEIRS ARE AWAY Da Da Da Da..... So the leader decides even though they have almost no one on the wall and are short people that the 2 doctors and 2 nurses should not be helping - but stay in the infirmary. (They have like 20 people in the group so, -4. Then he decides that young moms shouldn't be on the line ( they are in their 20's) and 2 other people should take care of the 4 kids so, 4 adults don't help because 4 adults have to watch 4 kids - and the people. -4 more So he took 8 people out of the list of 20, then 2 walked out on them so they have 10 people on the wall and 8 people waiting. DUMB and then he decides everyone should only watch the front for their colony - no one should be anywhere but on the front wall (guess how the bad guys get in?)
Then, the zombies are racing toward them, and their soldiers are right in front ot the zombies coming to help them and they stop to open the gate and the zombies swarm two of the cars and they get through and lose the outer perimeter and get through gate number 2 with many the dead getting in. And then they have a 15 minute, "Oh its you", "How've you been" chat and then a few long hugs and kisses and "OMG - I was so worried" conversations. for 3 pages..
I wonder if the zombies were just waiting for them to stop so someone could yell action again.
SO, the bad guys get n the back and only Michael Ben and Sean go there. Ben dies in the first second because when Michael runs at him yelling he turns his back on his post. and the guy gets up and has a 5 minute conversation with him before he throws Sean to the side and Sean is out of commission. Then he slashes Michael with a knife and then he stabs him through the thigh. The bad guys men are flooding into the camp. Then before he can kill Michael the girl who deserted his cam tp warm the colony insults his manhood and tells him he has a small dick and he cant satisfy a woman - this is about 20 lines long. He gets so flustered that he leaves himself open and Michael kills him. meanwhile all the men who got in through the back are in the colony. And the girl wont go warn anyone without hugs and kisses and another 10 lines of much ( By now they had time to kill everyone) Anyway. it sucked. But there are a few funny lines. A woman cries and cries and cries for all she has lost. He husband, her daughter, Logan, Joanne, the guy with a really long name...Then looks in the mirror over her bathroom sink ( for the first time in a long time- even though she is always putting her hair up in buns etc.. and she looks Happier!!!
Book #3 now delivers what I was already expecting and waiting for in book #2. But I sadly have to deduct some points as the whole showdown battle lacks a bit of tactic. As mentioned in an other review, why keep 4 people behind for the injured? If you have too many injured your team will loose anyway because you can't spare a single soul. Also, they had a day to prepare and they could have laid some traps for the uncoming assaulters, using their advantage of being prepared unknowingly to Ke Tau. Then, the arrival of the cavallery could have been a bit earlier. Instead, they open the gates and there is a big Hello and even a marriage proposal all while hordes of undead batter at the gates. So, defence wasn't great but how the attacker worked out his tactic within a day, respect. That's another sour point, Ke Tau seemed to have forgotten about the camp until all of a sudden, he decides to attack them the next day and all his preparation seemed quick and smooth. Therefore, this big showdown standoff wasn't really worth waiting 2 books for.
I'm glad Nadja came to her senses but again, I'm a bit disappointed about Mpho's decision, after all she withstood before and I don't think her grandmama would have been pleased. Apparently, the ending has changed a little bit to leave room for the next book, maybe this was one of the changes.
All in all, where the other books were just over 4 stars, this one is just under.
Baileigh Higgins Post apocalyptic zombie series set in South Africa Keeps up a nice pace of suspense, zombie action, Survival and struggle. This is the 4th book in the series, and I have binge listened with enjoyment. The action and adventure Has been consistently entertaining. The characters, good and evil , are equally intriguing. I am a bit disappointed When the author kills off a main characterBut not enough to stop listening . I am not sure if this is the last book or not but if another comes to audible, I will listen. The narrotor Greg Tremblay Is amazing, I can't say enough about how well I like his narration. I don't know if it is an authentic South African accent, but I don't care because each and every character had their own distinct voice, And for me thats excellent narration.
I have the omnibus edition of this series and I'm really enjoying it. Well, no, the gore and deaths are not pleasant, however, I like to see how the characters survive /think /feel /act. The cast of characters is vast and I love that - each believable and fit so well into the story as a whole.
I would not like to survive such times, and it's intriguing to see how those left tackle the multitude of problems. There are battles on many fronts, not least with the villains who are not satisfied until they annihilate everyone - very strange.
There's still not been an answer as to why it all happened, though we can probably guess it would be due to those in power and scientists messing with nature.
This is the third book in the series. There isn't much more to say about this series than I have with the other two. It's great I have the fourth book ready to go. I like the character development. The good guys are good and deal with individual issues in ways that wont impact the others negatively. The bad guys though, that's where Baleigh Higgins shines they are bad really bad mean cruel twisted people. And the dumbasses are dumbasses and between the bad guys and the dumbasses are where we see the zombies, eating each respectively.
Live Another Day is book 3 in the Dangerous Days series. Once Bailiegh Higgins doesn't disappoint. Time changes and life moves on. People can change while also staying the same. Who is in charge of this new sanctuary and can they be trusted? What about all the evil out there? Is there a way to make a vaccine? Higgins does a great job of showing how doing the right thing can lead to good things without making it a fairy tale where nothing bad ever happens. I am voluntarily leaving this review after getting a free copy of the book.
This is a good series. I've been reading Book after Book and it's holding my interests and leaves me wanting to see what happens next. Book 3 was full of action and drama. It had some Walking Dead moments but then got back on its own path. We got new characters and lost some old ones too. It's a basic apocalypse story but with a different set of characters in a different location as told by this author. This is a good story.
It was very scary to think about bad people doing the terrible things that Ke Tau did to all those people. Especially the women! I had nightmares about that. Still the book was very scary. Thankfully there were heros that were there to help. Too bad they were to late to help them. Now I definitely would not want to be caught in their trap! But when the world has a zombie apocalypse there are good and bad people.
I've read EVERY book that this author has written and am totally amazed at her ability to draw the reader into every story!!!! If you like end of the world, dystopian and/or apocalyptic books, then this is the author to check out!!! I seriously doubt that you'll be disappointed!!!!
Im at a loss for words ,im upset that this book ended but happy with the ending.was michael able to get into the enemy camp undetected? Was mpho able to get away and warn the others? This book was a awesome addition to the series.
I love the South African setting and the array of characters. This last one didn't grip me as well as the others in the series, but I can say I'm now a Higgins fan. I will definitely be reading her next series.
I am enjoying Ms. Higgins' work more and more. Some people look down their noses at those of us that read zombie fiction, but I say that you should get a pint of Haagan Dazs and enjoy this guilty pleasure! 😉
This story gets better and better! The scavenger runs are so descriptively written, you can close your eyes and almost see what is happening. And the showdown between our group and the neighborhood terrorist is epic! You must read this series!
I have come to care about many of the characters in the camp that Max leads but Logan is my favorite. This episode is filled with action and surprises. It would probably be five stars with a bit of editing/proofreading. I recommend the entire series!
This is a great book of the Zombie apocalypse set in South Africa, so some names and phrases are unfamiliar to an American but it is always great to learn about new things. The characters are well developed and the story is exciting!
This series is so wonderful I finished book three in one evening. I can hardly wait to start book four. This series is amazing. Must read. Start with book one.
I have to say that through the course of this book I really came to hate ke tau. I like a book that can make me hate the antagonist without even trying.
