I am thanking Kindle Unlimited for sending my way all the good and powerful books. I happened to finish this one in 40 minutes. No, I wasn't counting time while reading it but the book is very short and takes you to the journey of self discovery. I knew about this book for long as I have always seen it in the collection of street vendors. But reading it along with appropriate examples was an enthralling experience. The biggest thing I wanted to learn was a difference between happiness and joy and this book made me believe that I have been more joyful than happy. I accept it by now. Also, it talks about finding the true purpose in life. I hope you all find yours as I have found mine and it is keeping me on the right track of penning my world into words. I would say it would be worth a read.
This is a very short book that you can read in no time, but it has key points related to Ikigai. If you want to start on knowing your Ikigai journey quickly, this book might be the best for you!
Book suggests the difference between happiness and joy and how with small changes to life we can experience joyful being. Personally, some of it seemed too optimistic to be true but the philosophy, it says, is based on real-life evidence.
This is a short book expalaining the Japanese term Ikigai which means Purpose of life. It tells how you can find your Ikigai and pursue it to bring joy in your life with simple actions in detail
This booklet will help you live the Japanese secret to a long and happy life. The inhabitants of Okinowa in Japan have the highest number of over 100s in its population. How come they have such a high life expectancy, and what is their secret?
Finding your ikigai means finding the reason for your existence. The booklet has tips on all kinds of facets in life. Excersise is important, as is work. The secret is to keep working all your life, on something that gives meaning to you. For example, all the elderly in Okinowa had a vegetable garden where they can be found every day. Community spirit is also very important. And of course nutrition. It should be varied, and you stop eating before you feel full.
The best quote from this booklet for me is "all you have is today. Use it to the best of your ability."
Ikigai is a book like so many others, and actually I think they often all come down to the same thing. But since i have a focus on Japanese way of life, and I'm doing a lot of research on Japan at the moment, I thought it was worth reading. I also thought that, just like in comparable booklets, there is a lot of "blah blah". And yet there were a number of wisdoms that I wrote down for myself to get started.
🍁 If you could live longer and happier, what would you want to do? . . . 🍁"Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life" talks about the Japanese island of Okinawa and explains the various blue zones that are the reason for the longevity and happiness of its residents.
🍁The authors share a Japanese philosophy for finding your ikigai, your reason for being; increasing the happiness and balance in your life while staying active into old age. They spoke to some of the oldest people in the world (living in Okinawa, Japan) and share their secrets within this book.
🍁Ikigai spotlights on the habits and outlook on life that are most likely responsible for not just the longevity but the vigorous and joyful longevity of the people of Okinawa - lives filled with self-sufficiency, movement, gratitude, love and peace.
While there are many books related to Ikigai, but Ikigai: The Japanese Life Philosophy book has explained in short about what Ikigai is, where the term originated from and how can one find his or her Ikigai. It's a really short read and you get to know the brief of this Japanese Principle where people happily live inspite of having the troubles in their lives.
I didn't know about the concept of Ikigai before this book. So my rating is based on the amazing concept itself. The book is short and precise. The reflection of concept is pretty clear and set with appropriate examples. Language is simple and it's a short read. There are many other books based on Ikigai. This book might act as a perfect introduction to them if you seem to like and explore more about Ikigai.
I’m in my Japanese philosophy phase. I’ve recently read a refresher on Kaizen and really was thankful I did. This book came as a recommendation of my previous read. I’m glad I read it. About to find a good mind mapping app to apply what I just learned.
With Ikigai, you won't just settle for happiness, which is shallow and fleeting. Ikigai can help you live the rest of your life with joy and contentment, something even the richest of people aren't able to acquire. So pursue Ikigai, and you'll pursue your joy through your life purpose.
It depicts very well about the Japanese principle's and how to find the worth of life, based on the concept of word "Ikigai". A must-read for people who wants to experience life from a different perspective.
Good tips on how to find your Ikigai and pursue it
After reading Hector Garcia's book on Ikigai, I came across this one on Kindle. It's a short and crisp advice on what tools you can use to find your Ikigai and how you can go about pursuing it.
This is a tiny book with an even tinier message. Find your purpose in life ( stuff that gives you joy, takes you into a flow state etc) and lead a long, happy life. That’s about it !
A very good primer and practical guideline about ikigai. Inspiring and Informative. Valuable stuff for those who seek to pursue a meaningful life. Well written.!!!
This is a nice and short book it takes around 30 to 40 minutes or maybe less, but its essence of about joy and happiness quite impressive and guides you to finding you're Ikigai.
