She was the girl in a faded photo I’ve carried in my pocket for three long years. My best friend’s sister. I made him a promise on the battlefield that I intended to keep. Until I met her. An angel on a dance floor in a shimmery gold dress. Our worlds crashed together into an incredible night of heat. Now I’ve screwed up everything. How could I have known she was the one girl I swore to protect?
***Gabriel is a full-length, stand alone novel. There is one new bonus book, Liam included in this edition. There are NEVER any cliffhangers or cheating in my books. ***
I was intrigued by this story from the moment I read the blurb. Cook had a captive audience in me from the first page to the very last.
Gabriel was in a difficult situation. His ARMY buddy and best friend's last request was that Gabriel look after his younger sister. Normally this isn't an issue, buddies do it all the time in the armed services. However, Gabriel finds himself facing not the young idealistic young woman he expected and had heard so much about, but a bitter closed off woman whom he can't help be attracted to. As Gabriel and Lynette traverse the ins and outs of a relationship, things could not possibly get any more complicated. Or could they? This is a romance novel of course, which means that things most definitely CAN and WILL get more complicated before these two get their HEA.
I found the story to be both enjoyable and the situations captivating. There was never any undue drama added in for drama's sake as is often the case in romance novels. The story flowed well and you could feel the sizzle in the air between Lynn and Gabriel. All in all, it was a great story and definitely worth the read.
A very well written story with nice storyline and plot. It is very captivating from first to last chapter. The characters are likeable and well described. They develop nicely through the story. This is a story of great length and that gives the characters a depth that cannot always be given to their personalies in shorter stories. The story flows so well of the pages and I could not lay it down.
A story with passion, hot chemistry, sexyness, steamy scenes, closed hearts, promises and that is an emotional rollercoaster. Both characters have a lot of bagage they carry around from the past. They have both lost and got hurt by it. The pain and promises parts them. They have to get through a lot to get their HEA. I like their journey towards it. They are totally opposites but they complements each other so well.
I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. The twists and turns are so unexpected that they made it worth the read.
Gabriel is in town to fulfill the promise he made on the battlefield to his best friend. But first, he has to have some fun, and that's where Lynn comes in. She's a beauty on the dance floor where he's spending the night before heading out to fulfill his promise, and they spend one hot night together. Then Gabriel shows up to fulfill his promise and finds out his hot one night stand is the girl he's supposed to protect. Oops!
I loved Gabriel. He's such a sweet and loving alpha, and determined to make good on his promise. Lynn was harder for me to connect to, she pulled a really obnoxious move, one that made me see her in a really bad light. But thank God she eventually redeemed herself. But, Gabriel more than made up for anything Lynn lacked, and I was able to really like this story.

I have read books by S.Cook before, but I must say this book had me hooked from the first page.
Gabriel made a promise to his best friend while in the Army which was to look after his friend's younger sister. Gabriel spends years after an accident recovering before he can fulfill his promise.
He gets to town and is so worked up over finding her he needs a drink and ends up in a one night stand..... Turns out it the sister. She has had a rough time and she is not the young idealistic young woman he expected.
As the book tells the story of Gabriel and Lynette, you do not have any undue drama added in for drama's sake. This is a story with lots of chemistry between the leads, streams scenes, with lots of emotional baggage for each to work through to get to that HEA with no cheating and no cliff hangers.

I love and highly recommend this book to everyone 😆 😙 . I can't wait for the next book . I voluntarily ARC for honest review from Booksprout .
Great writing! It was refreshing to read a story that had a strong h and strong but patient H. The story progressed at a good speed and didn’t overflow with angst. It was a great balance of love and inner turmoil without a bunch of ridiculousness from the characters. It’s annoying when the h is air headed and/or needs constant affirmation. The characters had their struggles and the decisions that were made were understandable and realistic. Overall I look forward to reading more from this author.
This was a really great read and I would recommend it.With a super storyline and great characters, I was hooked right from the start.Three years ago when his best friend died he promised him he would look out for his sister so he heads to the middle of nowhere to check in with her.He meets and spends the night with a woman he meets and its not until the morning her realises who she is.This was a really good read I was pulled right into the story and could not stop reading
This was an okay read for me. I liked the story and the characters however, I did think it was a little bland. I didn't think enough happened in the story for it to be a really interesting read. I just needed the book to have more to it.
Generic stories with generic characters. Nothing noteworthy or memorable so it was difficult to get invested in the stories. I began to skip-read to move things along.
This was a quick and easy read. Would be a great beach read. The characters are fun but a little immature. The story is kind of predictable but I liked it in spite of that predictability.
I enjoyed reading Gabriel and Lynn's story. This is a new Author and I will be watching how she does.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
