Rate this book
Former elite Federation soldier, now turned space pirate, Jackson Burke has done his best to turn his life around—for the better. He isn't prepared when fate leaves a woman's safety totally in his hands. Since heroes don't leave a damsel in distress—and despite being outlaw pirates, the crew considers themselves the good guys—Jackson assumes responsibility for the beauty. It’s enough that his ship is held together by rust and sheer will, now he's got to keep this good guy thing straight and not give into the urges the sassy female brings out in him. Raisa is everything a man could want and for some reason she seems to like him, rough edges and all, but he's on the Federation's wanted list and they aren't known to back down.

When did space pirates become the good guys ? Well since this author decided to expand her Draig and Var lords of course! Not only are these assorted outlaws constantly on the run but they also happen to be cursed. Yes you read that right as their cocky pilot sort of got on the wrong side of a powerful ghost and now somehow they have to find that special someone for each of them to break it. It’s not easy though as they still are not exactly sure just which elements they are lacking.
Into this crazy mess comes Raisa who is fully capable of looking after herself but somehow actually needs rescuing and what do you know big bad and ever so protective Jackson goes steaming to her rescue. So what if she’s filthy because underneath that dirt is a woman that isn’t like any Jackson has met before. Raisa is inventive, determined and about to let loose a monstrosity that will send shivers down your spine.
I love these guys as no matter how they tease and wind each other up you can feel the love. Which obviously brings me to the couple and if honest I’m not overly fond of instant lust but with everything that happens in this story I actually didn’t mind. I still can’t wait to see what a certain pilot has coming for him but for now I’m with Raisa and think it’s probably a fantastic idea to get some chocolate but in space where do you find it ?
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

The crew of The Conqueror are cursed to each find love with a woman within the five elements or be forever alone if they don’t recognize their love. Jackson (H), former Federation soldier and security officer for the pirate ship Bound Virgin, comes to the rescue when Raisa (h) gets into an altercation with the aliens who stole her possessions and left her for dead. Taking her aboard the Bound Virgin, the crew will face lots of action and adventure from the Federation Military trying to reclaim Jackson to the discovery that Raisa makes about the ship. Lots of action, adventure and drama with a side of romance and heat.

Three young soldiers surrounded Jackson Burke. They had orders to detain him and bring him back into the Federation Military, but he refused to do that. Instead, he glared at the soldier who cleared his throat and tried again to arrest Burke. He broken the soldier’s scanner that had identified him. Another put a blaster in his back. Burke saw his crewmates but they did not move to help him unless he asked. Another cadet hit him on the back of his head and he took all three of them down. On Torgan, this kind of action was typical and no one interfered.

However, with their ship needing repairs they couldn’t pay for, the crew was supposed to be keeping a low profile. Pirates, after all, did not desire attention. So Dev, their ship’s Security Office, ordered Burke back to the ship to stay out of trouble. Bored in the dark, silent ship, Burke sat in the pilot’s seat and listened to the security feed outside the ship.

Raisa Lovell was buried alive in the hot sand of Torgan – but was digging her way out. It had been too hot for her attackers to dig a deep hole. No one offered her help as she crawled back to the complex. Her attackers had stolen her molecular gastro-spectrometer she had brought for repair – without that, she had no way to make a living. She had to get it back! She spotted Kod and Dak on the deck with her bag beside them and sneaked up to snatch it. So when Burke saw what was going on, he went to her rescue! Then he threw her over his shoulder and took her to his ship! He put her in the Captain’s quarters so he could use the med unit on the unconscious woman. This was probably not his best idea! Who was this woman? Would saving her cause the Federation to find him? What had he interrupted by attacking the Dokka smugglers?

This was a non-stop action book with a perfect blend of humor and suspense. The crew was cursed, thanks to Rick, their pilot, insulting a powerful ghost. Then all their other bad luck struck. Now Burke, trying to stay out of sight of the Military Federation who wants him back, brought more trouble to them by assuming responsibility for this female stranger! There is so much more fun to come – grab your copy and prepare to laugh out loud!

A captivating read from the off, you will love this book from the off!!

I was instantly grabbed by the start of this book, there was no slow build and as I hate reviewers that give away the plot or toom much about the story I will endeavour to “Dangle the Carrot” without giving it away. Subsequently spoiling the read for those readers who like myself like too be surprised and read the book for themselves.

Raisa is a cool, strong individual that is more than capable of standing on her own two feet, she is used to being self-reliant knowing her life could very much depend on her success.

I enjoy the interactions between the two main characters Raisa and Jackson, they are obviously attracted to each other but both are cut from similar cloth and refuse to be subservient to each other, they are both dominant personas and expect to call the shots which obviously is not contusive to an agreeable relationship.

The book grabbed me right at the beginning. I was impressed with how strong Raisa was, and how she wasn’t going to let anything keep her down. Despite what had happened to her she was determined to overcome the odds. I enjoyed the interactions between her and Jackson. All of the characters in this series are easy to fall in love with. They all have their own little quirks and personality. I enjoyed revisiting all the characters in the series, especially Rick and his antics, one of my favourites. The book kept me interested throughout. I went through a range of emotions through the book, fear of them being caught, getting stuck in the mysterious room. I hated that I had to put the book down to sleep, stupid sleep. This will be a great re-read many times in the future.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Michelle Pillow - His Earth Maiden: A Qurilixen World Novel (Space Lords Book 4)

This is a very enjoyable series by Michelle Pillow which actually ties in characters that appear in a couple related worlds.
Several of the space “pirates”(they’re actually doing good in a twisted kind of way) have had their books already and have found mates. The unconventional crew of the “Bound Virgin”is a very entertaining bunch each of whom have been well flushed out by the author, adding so much to the storylines.
The world building continues to grow and takes readers right back to familiar territory, although there are some surprises aboard the spaceship, which is not in great shape and in major need of repair. When they stop on Togan to fix the ship trouble of course follows.
Jackson, a former secret high level Enhanced soldier and is wanted by his former employer Federation. He is hiding out on the Bound Virgin when he sees a female in distress. Of course he rescues the feisty female, Raisa, which leads the Federation right to him.
The dedicated loyal crew including their mates and Raisa have to outrun the Federation to protect Jackson.
This adventure continues with non-stop action, many twists and turns, surprises, suspense, lots of great humor , romance and sexy scenes.
Raisa is an independent female who early on realizes Jackson is for her and she has no problem letting him know it.
All the characters blend so well together and their colorful unique personalities and storylines work to make this story a well earned five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It will grab you from the beginning and hold you the whole way through. Book 4 is awesome, but don’t miss the first three in this series it’s best to read them in order.

Excellent Characters, Primary and Secondary

This book's first scene puts you right in the action! I love it when a book does that. The hero of the book is in a bad spot, but he gets out of it... at least initially. The first scene with the heroine is similarly gripping as she struggles to town after being left for dead in a shallow grave in the desert. The hero acts most heroic in their meet-cute, saving both the heroine and an important piece of her equipment from the bad guys. Even though this is a relatively short novel, it has a lot going on. I particularly loved the discovery in the center of the ship… and how the heroine was able to do it! It was cool how the heroine is half what is essentially a race of angels, the Angelion (other half human)... and that this race's particular skill is with mechanics and machinery. We tend to see angels as ethereal, and I love how this author makes them very practical as well. The primary characters were complex and proper romantic figures. The secondary characters (the crew and their wives) were well developed as well. And oh, this book is steamy! This is the first book I have read of this particular Qurilixen series about the five crew members who are cursed until they find their true loves based on the elements of a particular society. I look forward to catching up with the other books to see how some of the married crew members got together with their wives.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

What an adventure! Jackson Burke, his fellow cremates and their wives are all most interesting with special talents. There are only 5 crewmen and two wives at the beginning until Jackson spots a bedraggled females crawling into the sheltered part of Torgan. He runs to rescue her and hopes that the Federation did not spot him. They want him back, to reenlist. Not happening. Jackson likes his life on their pirate ship too much to give it up.
The woman he rescues is Raisa Lovell. As she was buried in the sand, it is hard to tell what she really looks like. Jackson could tell that she is badly wounded, but brings her into their ship anyway. She uses her skills with the replicator to make a flowerery fragrenced bowl of water with which to clean herself. Raisa's mother was from New Earth and her father an Angelion from who she iherited her skills for repairing mechanical and electrical things
Meanwhile their ship is badly damaged. THe captain, Lochlann is trying to sell off all non essential cargo to earn credits and lighten the ship for immediate take off, before Jackson finds himself in more trouble. Dev's role was to keep a sharp eye on the michievous women. Jackson was the ship's security
Raisa and Jaxkson find that they compatible and declare their love for one another, but troiuble still lurks with the Federation. Qw do get our HEA at the end, but not until our main characters go through some harrowing experiences

We are back with our favorite space pirates. We start out with Jackson and the crew at Torga the black market. He's minding his own business when the Federation Military try to take him in. The space cadets do not know what they've gotten themselves in to and he easily takes them out. However, the crew is on bad times with the ship needing a lot of repairs to be able to run and their power is flickering. He is ordered to stay on the ship but when he is watching video surveillance of outside he sees an intriguing woman trying to steal from some Dokka mercenaries. In walks Raisa, the woman taking on the Dokka, trying to take back her stolen property. Jackson brings her on board the ship after she passes out. He doesn't tell the crew they have a new passenger before they leave and here starts the amazing story. Raisa is part Angelion and is amazing with electricity and mechanical devices. They find an amazing surprise and try to out run the Federation Military.

I highly recommend reading these stories in order. Each story builds on each other but are wonderful stories in their own right. Each character is amazing and builds up with every story in the series. I fall more and more in love with this group with every book and every page. They are hilarious and the steam between the main characters never disappoints.

Back with the crew of bad boy space pirates and their women is another adventure. The crew of five has been cursed by a very ticked off ghost. It has to do with finding their soulmate--or not. Some of the crew has been lucky in spite of or because of the curse. Jackson wasn't so lucky. He'd been a soldier and now he was part of this family.

While hiding out from an old situation, Jackson steps in to help out an injured woman taking on two. He pulls her onto the ship. Now, what's he supposed to do with her? There's plenty he'd like to do but some people and mechanical problems keep him away--for now.

The crew is unique, each and every one. The situations not easy to get out of. In fact, there's a good chance they all won't make it. Each one is loyal and stands by the crew who is now their family. Raisa takes a while to heal, to trust, and admit her feelings--despite the curse.

The author doesn't let up. Just when you think they've overcome the secret enemy...well, don't want to spoil anything. You'll need to read for yourself. I'm a fan of the author, the series and especially this book.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

I have to say that the His Earth Maiden started out with lots of action with Jackson Burke crewman and security guard aboard the Bound Virgin where Jackson has been sent so that he can stay out of trouble until they can lift off, while checking the camera's outside the ship he sees these aliens talking and then he sees a dirty, filthy female trying to steal their case only he doesn't know that the dirty woman that he has his eye on is trying to retrieve her case from these two aliens without getting into another altercation. Raisa Lovell is not having a good day at all she was high jacked of her property and left for dead so she had nothing to loose when the men started to attack her when they realized that she was still alive and trying to steal her case back but before she knew it instead of her getting hit the aliens were getting theirs next thing she is being picked up and she passes out. Jackson takes her and the case and stashes them on the ship in the captains cabin. Love this book it was a very intriguing, suspenseful, romantic, action adventure all rolled up in one little hot book. Guess you can tell I Liked It beginning to end. I was given a copy as a gift from the author. I am providing an honest review without obligation.

Buckle Up!

Man do I love these pirates and misfits if you will...I always crack up when I read these stories especially Rick, he always has me in stitches and I can't wait to see the girl who tames him!

Jackson really never thought he would ever find a girl to put up with his quiet, stiff self, but the military made him that way and there is no way he will change, or could he? Being on the Bound Virgin is his life now, these men are his family and he is happy for them, happy they have found love, well except quirky, silly Rick that is. Will he ever find love in space? Why can't he just leave this small thief alone, even with all that dirt he can't help but feel a stirring for her, but she will never notice him.

Raisa is a woman of my heart, she knows what she wants and grabs it and she wants Jackson. The minute she sets eyes on the stiff upper lip hunk she knows there is more to him than meets the eye and she is going to bring it out even if she has to take the reins. Buckle yourself in for the ride of your life Jackson. Nope, no way is he going to stay stiff for long!

I can't stop saying how fun these guys are! Never. a dull moment with these space pirates.

Well.
Hmm.
Well.

I'm not sure.
The idea is great, the concepts have a unique twist. It's just that it feels like it should be about one hundred or so pages more. Everything is condensed in a way that leaves the story feeling flat. Mostly the interactions are highlighted, but it still sits more like a potted character development tree than anything else. Those in-between 'magic' moments that are in a lot of books aren't necessarily in this one.

I also want to point out that the dialogue is stilted. One of the major friendship arches is totally disregarded by the crew: which doesn't make sense to the psychological intelligence of the characters. The characters time and time again...just aren't real bright on picking up on things. It's unfortunate that the book reads this way, because I feel like they each have likable attributes. But for a bunch of space pirates that claim a high success rate--they seem pretty dumb. And I think that's more of a detriment to story development.

So. Yeah. I feel like these problems can be resolved with a few more pages. Audiobook was read really well though, definitely keep that voice actor--really great intonation between characters.

Jackson is an ex-soldier whose past won't stay in the past. He's hiding on his ship when he sees a woman getting beaten by two males, he can't have that!
Raisa was just looking for parts to fix her latest invention, she didn't ask for the severe beating or attempted murder,(they were too lazy to finish the job) those two put her through. They stole her all her hard work and she wants it back.
After he saves her, they are drawn to each other and he tries not to think about the curse an ancient spirit put on him and his crew. If he doesn't recognize his true love, he will be forever alone, could she be the one?
After making an unusual discovery, Jackson and Raisa are trapped together and their passions ignite.
Enough is enough! If Raisa, his crew and himself are ever going to have and peace or a future, he must face his past.
This book had a good story, peril, laughter and heat, I don't want to put any spoilers in but, they should leave somethings how they find them.
I recommend this book. It's a good and quick read for a rainy day.

Instead of hiding on the ship to escape Federation soldiers, Jackson, a former soldier, goes to the rescue of a damsel in trouble. He is drawn to Raisa and wonders if she might be the one to break his part of the curse. When Raisa recovers, the crew discovers she is a mechanics genius. She agrees to help get the ships systems working at full capacity. While searching the ship to find what’s causing the drain on the ship, Jackson and Raisa find hidden chambers, odd machinery, aliens in stasis, and sizzling romance. Will Raisa and Alexis be able to use what they find to fix the power grid? This is another interesting Space Lord story. There are a few changes to the crew and a different ship. The crew, who consider themselves family, is boisterous and funny, protective of each other and loyal. There is adventure, revenge, discovery, and romance for Jackson and Raisa. There is also more trouble with the Federation for Jackson than he thinks. It may not be easy to work it out. Great narration by Michael Ferraluolo.

Jackson Burke is a security officer for captain lochlann on a ship called the Bound Virgin. They didn't name it lol it was won in a poker game and being Pirates they can't really fill out paper work yo have it changed lol. There were many choices that changed his life but I big one was a vengeful spirit putting a love curse on them might just be the worse and it's all Ricks fault. Just like being stuck on the planet Torgan us. In fact it's almost always Rick's fault lol the crew on the ship it fantastic and everyone is so different but they are a family.
Raisa Lovell was on Torgan too. She was attacked and left for dead in a shallow grave in the desert. She is half human, half harpin and has an for repairing mechanical and electronical things.
OMG the twists and turns in this story was awsome. I loved the characters, the mystery action, betrayal it was fantastic. Don't miss it. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to see what happens next. Great series.
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

The cursed crew continue with their good guy pirate escapades. Jackson left his military life behind when he joined the crew. But it looks like they want him back...by force if necessary! He puts a target on his back when he goes to the aid of a pretty lady getting beat up by a couple of males. Hiding her on the ship seemed like a good idea but his good deed may come back to bite him in the ass!

It seems his damsel in distress has a talent for all things mechanical and when she pays for her passage by carrying out some repairs she uncovers a very big secret and the reason why the ship never seems to work properly!

Raisa never meant to unleash the fresh hell on the crew but it seems she just keeps finding trouble! I loved meeting back up with my favourite space pirates again. Another crew member meets his mate and therefore beats the curse that An laid on them when a certain crazy pilot insulted her! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Lots to sift through with this one. Jackson is one of five crew members who were cursed by an ancient spirit to find love only through one of five elements. He longs for love, but refuses to spend too much time thinking about the curse. Raisa is just trying to survive being beaten and left for dead after being double-crossed by alien traders. Jackson finds and saves her, putting his life and those of his crew in danger. As the attraction between them grows, will they have to set their feelings aside to save the rest of the crew? I've gotten invested in these characters, they're starting to feel like friends. It was fun to have all of the crew members playing a part in this book. Mystery, bravery, and action abound in this tense story. Surprises lurk both on and off their ship. If you like fast-paced, tense fantasy with a bit of steam, likeable characters who will do anything to protect each other, and multiple surprising twists, you'll enjoy this story!

Space Lords series continues with His Earth Maiden by Michelle Pillow. This book follows Jackson and Raisa’s adventure and obstacles to overcome to find love. Jackson rescued Raisa from smugglers while he was trying to stay out of the Federation Military’s hands. Raisa is a strong woman that doesn’t let the world bring her down. She is skilled at repairing electrical and mechanical things. Jackson just so happens to be in need of ship repairs.
Their story will absorb you in from the very beginning. Absolutely love the characters they are made for each other. I just love how this author has created a world that has several series that exists simultaneously together so well. Looking forward to book five in the series.

I loved this book! These Characters are so crazy and lovable!!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Who knew looking for a part for her Molecular gastrometer would be so dangerous...so dangerous that it almost gets Raisa killed on Torga but luckily for her she was saved by Jackson and taken on board the ship Bound Virgin so he can help Raisa survive.
Raisa once better tries to help the crew fix-up the ship with mixed results but she does find what is draining the ships power it's...........
When Jackson is identified by a Federation soldier on Torga he thinks he's in trouble but he gives them the slip unfortunately later Jackson realises that their ship is being followed and he has a very bad feeling of what is going to happen!

I love Jackson and Raisa. Jackson and his crew are space pirates, even though they don't claim that title. They were cursed by an angry ghost and need to find their soul mate to break the curse. A few members of the crew have already found theirs and broken the curse and it seems it's Jackson's turn. He has already got a ton going on and now he rescues a woman who was stolen by smugglers. Now he has to figure out what to do with her. While she is healing and learning to trust their connection grows. Add in the other drama and you have another fantastic edition to the series. I love every book in this series and this one was just as great. Can't wait to see what comes next!!!! Couldn't put it down!!

Jackson is a space pirate who used to work for the federation. He is attacked by federation agents and sent back to the ship for his safety. Raisa was buried and left for dead in the desert. Her captives were too lazy to bury her deep and she made it back to town. She saw her captives and her molecular gastro-spectrometer that they stole from her. Jackson saves her from them when she tries to steal it back. This causes the federation to find him and follow the ship. Raisa finds a secret laboratory on the ship while trying to help fix it. I love how Michelle M. Pillow's take on space travel. This book was full of adventure, love and is a tear jerker. I was surprised by the ending.

This can be read as a stand alone, but it is better if you read the series in order. It is a sci-fi, action based romance. Jackson had a rough childhood, and is ex-military. He is a good guy, who happens to be a space pirate. Raisa is a damsel in distress, and is rescued by Jackson. Suddenly Jackson is a wanted man, with a warrant out for his capture. He is being used as a scapegoat, accused of murder, which he did not commit. He is convicted without trial and executed by poison gas. But did he really die? Love the addition of chocolate. Who would have thought chocolate would still be so highly sought, and so difficult to obtain. Story was good, with well developed characters. Narration was well done.

Jackson a former soldier was trying to make up for his past. Raisa just wanted to get a part for her device so she can earn credits.
Despite his trying to make up for his past he didn’t expect Raisa.
This was a great continuation of the series. I liked revisiting previous characters and all of their shenanigans.
Jackson is a white knight to Raisa and despite his feeling everything but she recognizes it it for what it is. Together they discover secrets around them and fall for each other during that adventure.
If you need an exciting adventure and a fun ride through space with a hot couple you will enjoy this.

Don't make her angry her food could be classified as a weapon!
I love the way that Raisa doesn't wait to be rescued, she is quite capable of rescuing herself. And she is quite capable of getting herself into more trouble all on her own, thank you very much. But she'll have fun while she's there!
Jackson is and always has been a protector so he does what he needs to while Raisa happily goes about causing havoc and mischief wherever she goes. And maybe one day shell find the holy grail and create chocolate with her molecular gastro-spectrometer. Just don't try and pee her off or she'll make you eat a pastry!

I couldn't decide whether to give this book 4 stars or 1 star. The story element is good. The relationship element is ludicrous. Basically the relationship isn't developed at all, you're just basically told that they're in love with each other after two days when they actually know nothing about each other. So I don't know, it was pretty rushed and forced. The two main characters are incredibly two dimensional and underdeveloped. That's why I settled on two stars. I can't really recommend this book although it is part of a series and you almost have to read it if you want to get to the next one.

In the Quirilixen world, we finally get Jackson’s story. The broody, and muscled up body guard. He has been a interesting character throughout the series so I was happy to finally get to his story in his POV. Jackson has been hiding from
the people that want him captured and so far he’s been able to evade them till he helps Raisa. Is the risk worth it? Pick up the book to find out! It was a entertaining and intense plot. We discover a few things along the way and I feel that it unites the crew even closer.
The narrator, Michael Ferraiuolo did a wonderful job portraying the characters. The variety of voices and inflections was great!

His Earth Maiden is Jackson Burke's story. Jackson is a wanted man by the Federation. The only conclusion, he could up with, is that the Federation wants him back because of his elite skills. This time the Federation recruits didn't back down and because of it, Jackson was to remain in hiding on the ship.

Raisa Lovell is likely to be alive after being robbed and buried alive. When she tried to steal back her molecular gastro-spectrometer, she was discovered by her attackers and ended up being saved by Jackson.

Now Jackson and his fellow crew members have to avoided Federation and at the same time tried to figure out what is on their new barely functional spaceship. It is a good story of Jackson and Raisa's romance in trying to break the curse but the story is a bit predictable to me.

There is a bit of a tear breaker but love still wins the day for both the hero and heroine.

I still love Michael Ferraiuolo's narration of the story. He is the right person for this series.
