Not just wool applique, there are quite a few wool / cotton combo projects and cotton applique.
There are several cute projects. I particularly liked the Little Sparrow pinkeeps and a Birdsong pillow which was finished beautifully with a lot of attention to detail on the back side (cute enough to be a front side with some patchwork squares and button tabs with wooden buttons).

I have already been gifted with needle notebooks and lots of pincushions, and I have limited wallspace, so I appreciated that the author included a notebook cover and heated neck pillow. Although, as I mentioned above, the Little Sparrow pincushions are so cute, I'd make them just as folk art decorative objects to lay about on my bookshelves.

The projects are Folk Art, so the flowers and birds are simple shapes.

I like much of the style in this book. But there's not a lot I would take the time to try crafting myself.
