"I have taken down more enemies than anyone else I’ve ever met. I was named after the Firosan word for bloodlust.
And yet this human in front of me ... she is making me wonder for the first time if that’s enough."
Vyken is one of the greatest warriors in the galaxy. No, the universe. Though Vyken was hesitant at first to accept the responsibility of General in the Firosan military, he was sent on his first real mission ... and then the rest is a blank. He doesn't remember a thing. But when he returns to his home planet, Paxia, his King wants him to answer for crimes so gruesome he couldn't have even conceived of them.
This fearsome, trusted warrior has gone from an honored general to a dangerous fugitive in the space of the blink of an eye. And now Vyken, just like his name suggests, is truly out for blood.
When clues lead him to a shapely human female on a planet named Earth, Vyken's life heads in a direction he could never have expected. He expects to find answers, but instead he finds that maybe companionship isn't so bad after all.
"Maybe cutting all ties and faking my own death wasn't a great idea after all. Who knew?"
Roxie can't handle the idea that she might be promised to a vicious alien warlord. She's a chameleon, can blend in anywhere out of necessity, but space? In the middle of a war? No thank you. So she disappears into the shadows. Because it might not be a great life, but at least it's the one she's chosen.
Right? Wrong. Because instantly a scarred, glaring alien fugitive with more muscle than sense snatches her from her planet and whisks her into space. He seems to think she has something to do with some awful faraway crimes. Is he insane? If he's really so dangerous and terrifying, why is she so drawn to him?
It's been awhile, but Thanika Heath's staunch alien heroes, the Firosan Mahdfel warriors, are still out there trying to rebuild their planet and their people, still fighting the Suhlik enemy. It's now the turn of General Vyken to discover a fated mate - and she's Roxie, another human! But he's on the run to prove his innocence in the genocide of the Ferathorns, while she is on the run from the Mahdfel Bride lottery on Earth. Now they're both wanted fugitives. He hasn't got time for a mate now, and she sure doesn't want one either, but you get involved with a big telepathic bioluminescent Oracle, and you get your life re-arranged for you. The all-knowing Oracle has a plan to save the day, the Ferathorns and their planet, and Vyken and Roxie - and mess up the Suhlik in the process, but doesn't share any deets. Vyken and Roxie go through all kinds of dangerous adventures while accomplishing the impossible, including achieving their own HEA. It's a suspenseful, action-packed romance-on-the-run, with strong characters who become unwitting lovers and heroes, and Heath's incredible world-building to provide fascinating context. Fans of the Firosan Mahdfel will delight in the cameo appearances of characters from previous books, but this also works fine as a stand-alone.
Vyken is accused of a crime he can't remember committing. He escapes the prison on his home world of Praxia. He then goes back to the scene of the crime, the planet of Fera. The planet appears to be dead, no plant life or anything. He walks into a cavern system and speaks to an oracle (a talking bioluminescent plant) that resides there. He is told to go to a set of coordinates. Roxie is on earth. She takes her death because she didn't want to become a DNA Bride to a Mahdfel alien. She runs away but somehow she is kidnapped by an alien anyway. He tells her that an oracle told him to pick her up because she was somehow involved with the genocide of another alien species. I love the ups and downs of this story. I like that Vyken is willing to give up everything at one point in the story. I was waiting for a little bit more at the end, but it appears that we may have more stories coming out of a crew that Vyken and Roxie are involved with. I have read all of Thanks Hearth's Firosa books and am so glad that this book was in KU. I love reading the star huntress books.
One drunken night at a 🍸bar and Vyken🐺🍆🌋👋 is promoted to General, and signed up on the Mahdfel DNA bride👰 search lottery list. He also ends up accepting a mission to go to Fera🌍, to find out what has happened to the Mahdfel allies, the Ferathorns, a plantlike, collective memory species.
As if in a dream, Vyken🐺🍆🌋👋 now finds himself accused of genocide, of killing all of the Ferathorns. Put in prison, he soon escapes, steals a ship🚀 and makes his way back to Fera🌍, to make things right. He must clear his name, it wasn't him! It must have been a cruel trick perpetrated by the Mahdfel enemies, the Suhlik, a lizard🐉 like race of annihilators.
Along the way, he picks up a young human woman, Roxie💋💃, who he finds trying to escape her past. She is the answer, as foretold by the Ferathorn Oracle.
I enjoyed this installment of the Warriors of Firosa, a lot. The way the two fated mates find each other is very different. As usual, Roxie💋💃 is a feisty young woman, who doesn't listen to Vyken🐺🍆🌋👋 when he is trying to keep her safe.
Vyken🐺🍆🌋👋 is a bit of a baaaad boy sex toy and a spankster👋! You know Roxie💋💃 loves💘 it! Adults only!
Abduction alien PNR w action, intrigue, and 2nd chances
Imagine coming to your senses at a trial while you are being questioned concerning a genocide in that you confessed to without any memories of committing?
What would you do? Well Vyken knows that he didn’t do this, no matter what he confessed to the King. No one has killed more enemies or been more loyal; Vyken has lived his entire life in service to his planet. So he decides to break out of jail to clear his name. Since he doesn’t have any memories of the past week, he decides to start on the planet he supposedly killed for clues.
On Fera, he finds the oracle is still alive. They give him coordinates to a female that is the key to it all. So he travels to earth, goes to the coordinates, finds the female and kidnaps her.
One minute Roxie is trying to enjoy a cocktail while celebrating how she faked her own death to avoid the alien mating lottery, and then the next she is running for her life after being outed at the bar. Before she knows it she has been abducted by an alien and brought upon a ship. The exact place she was trying to avoid.
Vyken is running from allegations of a crime he didn't commit, determined to clear his name, Roxie is running from a fate she isn't ready to face. When these two start running together they discover they may be doing more than heading in the same direction.
I found myself really enjoying the writing in this story, the tone managed to balance serious elements of the story with the just right tension breaks. ("I’m sure the inhabitants of this planet -- may they all rest in peace…")
Roxie was determined not to be a wife to any Mahdfel Warrior and changed her name and life so she wouldn’t be chosen. However that didn’t work as she ended up kidnapped by a Mahdfel Warrior, Vyken. Vyken needed to prove he was innocent of genocide, so he escaped and kidnapped Roxie to help prove he was innocent. How are they going to prove his innocence when they are unsure on what to do?
I love this world, these aliens, and their mates! There is so much more to these stories besides some steamy action (though there is that! 😉). It’s such an interesting and intriguing world, and I’m enjoying every minute of it. I hope more books follow in this series. The first few are excellent, especially this one. Definitely recommend it!
Vyken is accused of killing an alliance species he has no recollection of doing. He escapes and told by the oracle to get Roxie, a human on the run herself from the Bride Lottery of the Mahdfel. Their journey to discovery leads to love and some hot scenes! I enjoyed the characters from the previous books making an appearance too.
This book has everything you want in a romance? It's a story that has action, mystery, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters? This is a book for you; where you find love through time and space? Highly recommended series and keep them coming!
Vyken is framed and has to prove his innocence. Luckily Roxie, his mate, gets pulled into this fated scheme and they are able to solve the puzzle and find their HEA in this intriguing read.
For being kind of short I really liked it. It's got kidnapping, a Space battle, chases on another planet, love making, and a few emotional scenes that will make you teary eyed. What more do you want in this kind of story?
That was kind of a weird read... don't get me wrong, not bad... just weird. It felt very different in tone to the others in the series... but I guess that is the way that it is progressing?!
The end very much felt like the start of something new.
I am totally in love with this series! The characters are so engaging, the world building is fantastical and the stories are always so sweet. I think Roxie and V were my favorite couple. He was so selfless I almost cried. I’m glad I found this author.
VERY simplistic stories filled with many imaginative characters. Biggest gripe - for being a General, he has more insecurities and indecisiveness than a rookie Corporal.
