And so I took up reading tea-leaves

This is a true story. It is a social history with a twist. Ruth was fey. She communicated with spirits, had dreams fore-telling future events and read tea-leaves. This is her story, in her words and describes her life after being stoned out of Wallasey, saved by a gypsy, living in a priory house with incumbent ghost of a monk and finally settling down in Warrington. Only she didn't settle down. She lived a full life in the industrial north of England, bringing up a family during the wars years and beyond. Hers was a life like many others filled with joy and sorrow but interspersed with the para-normal events which have become family legend. A remarkable woman - a riveting tale.
