One day, after borrowing her friend’s high school uniform and taking a walk around town on a whim, Minato runs into her younger stepbrother, Toru! Toru believes Minato when she insists she’s someone else...but now it looks like he’s fallen in love with her high school girl disguise?! A weird, weird love story begins!
This is a manga following two unlikable step-siblings who end up dating under false pretenses with one being privy while the other isn’t. It’s just really underhanded and kinda gross since the characters are in their twenties (meaning they’ve been step-siblings for a while). I have plenty of ideas where this story will go, but do I want to find out? Not really.
This was very strange.... I'm usually really into the weirder side of shoujo romance manga, but something about this was a bit off-putting. It probably has to do with the characters, as they were really bland (even for this genre), made some very weird choices, and the main love interest just wasn't likable. I also found the art style to be really lackluster, and very, very bland. But I do find that a tiny part of myself wants to continue though, if only just to see what will happen next. And who knows? Maybe the series will get better.
Honestly there are other sibling who are not connected by blood type of love stories out there and I find it hard to believe this one will not end up with the main character realizing that she actually loves her brother and that he in turn loves her too (possibly substituting the feeling that might alienate her if confessed and make him a deviant in the eyes of others with his man whore type actions.) Considering they are only step-siblings I honestly don't see the big deal if they do find out they like each other in the end but when the Main character ends up with a complicated love life thanks to her growing affection in her disguise as a student as well as her regular self for a man who also cared for her then I get a little twitchy as she starts two timing as she attempts to find she has to create time for Mina and for herself.
The only reasons I gave this a 4th star instead of a 3 is regardless of her actions Minato feels regret for what she is doing to her brother even as she is dealing with her first relationships (sadly at the same time) making for a dramatic but interesting story as well as the artwork in the book itself. It is clear she really cares for her brother and misses when they were younger and now her actions will change the lives of those that care for her in return however she decides to move next.
This started off pretty weird and I felt very uncomfortable reading it, but I could NOT put it down because the drama was so intense. I was looking for a kdrama-level drama, and this really hit the mark! I finished the whole thing in two days, and I through a rollercoaster of emotions at 3AM, but it was overall, a heartwarming tale, and most (?) of the weirder things are explained and justified. This isn't something I'd probably read again, but I'm super glad I read it, and I'd recommend this to people (but probably not in real life because they'd read the first few chapters and think I was crazy :D)
Story: 4/5 Art: 5/5 (started off cute and they improved like crazy near the end) Drama: 7/5 (I audibly gasped and cringed and groaned and I loved every second) Cute guys: 2/5 (eh) Character likability: 3/5 Romantic chemistry: 3/5 (they're kinda related but not really) Did I cry: no but I did say "aw" a few times Should you read it? YES
This is one of those series you start and your first reaction is a healthy and powerful WHAT THE HECK?! 20-years-old Minato decides to use her friend's high school uniform just for fun. To her horror, she ends up running into her stepbrother, who ends up asking her out. (Super condensed first chapter). I wasn't expecting to like it and, to be completely honest, I didn't. Until vol. 2. This volume isn't bad, but I just had a couple of issues with the story of a sister dating her brother (stepsister & stepbrother, but still...) My issues are cleared after that second volume and I could actually enjoy the story. After all, Minato does too many weird thing to not laugh at least a little.
Cute story, but not my favorite. Took a couple of chapters for me to get used to the art.
While most manga for me is pretty much a fast readthrough in one sitting, I've been dragging on this one for literally years. The setup is so cringeworthy that I find myself stopping every couple of pages because I dread the next trainwreck to come, it's that's painful. Even when it was scanlated years ago I had the same reaction and never actually finished the series for this reason. I bought this series recently in a show of support and an attempt to finally finish it, but my god, it's hard.
Artwork-nya biasa saja, tapi ceritanya lucu.
Ah yes. I binged this one. I guess... not for everyone but if you can handle the basic concept which YES is somewhat fucked-up*, then it has a terrific will they / won't they plot, with great characters and clear, expressive line art. (The art might be too simple for some tastes, but I love how easily it conveys the entire emotional range.)
If not, then enjoy the delicious watercolour covers?
*mainstream fucked-up, this is not smut or porn or something else very wrong which there is a quite a bit of in manga if you go looking in the wrong manga places
The art is not my favorite, but it gets a bit better along the story. Is this really a Shojo manga, because it’s very straight forward when handling sex talk...
All about this Series is OKAY for me, from art to characters to plot it’s just an alright manga. If I’m honest I wouldn’t recommend it.
