This is my first book by Ann Christopher and it pulled me in from the very start. Allesandro Davies is a broken man after coming home from the war that killed his twin brother Tony. He lives in his families sweeping mansion in the Hamptons with his estranged teenage son and his disabled war buddy. The last thing he wants is a visit from Tony’s ex fiancé.
Skyler has tried to contact Sandro many times to discuss the generous bequeath of half of the family home from Tony in his will. In fact, she only wants to give it back to the family, but Sandro won’t take her calls. That’s what drives her to venture to his home in the middle of the night during the storm. A storm that drops a tree on her car and ends up trapping her on the property while she recovers.
There is an undeniable heat between these two main characters and it kept me wanting to turn the pages to see them finally come together. The writing was very engaging and immersed me in the story.
I was disappointed when I learned how little of a foundation this to actually had, however. The story made it seem like they had an opportunity to have developed a connection, one that made their fantastic sexual tension believable. *Spoiler alert* they had only had one conversation in their past, so it made what seem to like a legit foundation, was really a mondo case of instalove. That bummed me out.
Also, the author did note that the story was kind of short but it did not keep me from being surprised when the book ended around the 80% mark. I thought there would be more! I guess it speaks well for the book that I wanted more. As I said, the tension was great, the sex was hot and I enjoyed both main characters.
If you like a brooding, sexy military hero who acts like a bear with the thorn in his paw… And you’re down with a scoop of angst on top of your sexual tension ,this might be for you. As long as you’re in the mood for something quick and instalove doesn’t slow you down.
In Sinful Seduction, Skylar Lawrence is in a precarious situation. Right before he shipped out to Afghanistan, she broke up with her fiancé, Antonios (Tony) Davies. Soon after he was killed by an IED that hit the convoy containing he and is twin brother Alessandro. Tony never took Skylar out of his will and now she is part owner of his family home in the Hamptons, along with Sandro. After weeks of not having her phone calls returned, Skylar arrives at the home with every intention of signing over her share and closing that chapter of her life. When she arrives on the twins' birthday, she finds Sandro missing his brother and suffering from a severe case of survivor's guilt. Seeing him again for the first time in almost two years reminds him of their first meeting and the undeniable chemistry they shared. That chemistry is what convinced Skylar that Tony wasn't the right man for her and led her to call off their engagement.
This novel sets itself apart from others by broaching the very timely subject of our veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the post traumatic syndrome that many suffer. It blends these serious issues seamlessly with the the story of two people trying to fight their attraction for each other because of the loss of someone they both loved. The sequel, Sinful Temptation, will be out in February.
Great story although I felt it needed more adequate background as to how long Sky and Sandro had liked each other. I'm not saying there wasn't information about it but if you weren't paying close attention to every single dialogue it was easy to miss and piece together the timeline of how and when they first met, Tony's death, the issue of the will etc. It just seemed like the action started all of a sudden.
It was really touching to see Sky force Sandro's hand and make him confront his survivor's guilt. Also, thank goodness she was more stubborn than he was. Talk about unconditional love right there.
I applaud Ann Christopher for taking on the topic of war, veterans and post-traumatic stress disorder. It's such a real issue and it's great that she introduced this piece of real life into the book. .
This story was an unbelievably powerful ride. There were so many strong emotions going on for Sandro that you couldn't help but to feel for him, and Skylar really bought him back to life. At first I didn't really know how this story would play out, but as you keep reading further and further along you just get so sucked into it that you just cannot stop reading. The roller coaster between Sky and Sandro was something else. The fight from Sandra had me just wanting to shake the life out of him, but when they came together it was like fireworks. The love scenes were some of the most sensual and passionate that I have ever read. I cannot wait to read about Tony because if his story is anything like this one it is going to be explosive.
I saw this in the library and decided to pick it up. It was a decent quick read.
Pros: Surprisingly the author was able to biuld suspense and create tension. I'm being kind.
Cons: Part of the twist was very predictable, but I did think this book was going to end on a sad note with a cliffhanger to compel to get the next offering.
So intense, so dramatic: over-the-top actions and statements in a very dramatic setting during a very dramatic storm, emotions consistently described in terms of overwhelming internal violence inside the characters, and lots of toe-to-toe confrontation with repressed tenderness and expressed resistance & sensuality. This read a whole awful lot like a Presents (it was originally published as a Kimani). Not really my thing, but it was completely Very Much What It Was, and that was well done, and I loved Skylar as a protagonist.
This is one hot romance...Love it! The characters are so genuine and relatable. I admire Skylar's persistence and devotion. Sandro's such a man of dignity and honor for doing his best to respect his supposedly dead brother by staying away from the one woman he truly love and want. I'm solo hooked! Thanks and good job Ann!
I really enjoyed this book--in fact, the entire series!
It’s been way too long since I’ve read a book by Ann Christopher, an error I’m currently rectifying...it all began with a BookBub ad for SINFUL SEDUCTION. I read the blurb, it sounded pretty good, so I downloaded the book to my iPhone—my ebook reader of choice. When I finally came up for air, it was time to order SINFUL TEMPTATION, because I could not get Sandro and Skylar out of my mind. Their romance was absolutely perfect, and damn but Ms. Christopher can write! Her dialogue, her characters’ emotions, their fears and desires all laid out in an absolutely beautiful story set in a world of wealth and privilege that I didn’t want to leave.
Ergo, the only cure was to buy the next book in the series for an even deeper and more profound romance, and once I finished that one, it was time to read SINFUL ATTRACTION with two truly unique protagonists and another heart-meltingly perfect romance. SINFUL PARADISE is currently in line for my next read, though I did take a break in between the first two in the Davies Family series to read the first book in the Warner Family series, TENDER SECRETS. (I just checked—there are at least four more in that series...Yes!) Every single book I’ve read has been absolutely wonderful, and after the stressful few months I’ve had, the escape into this author’s world has been a gift.
So at this point, even without having read everything Ms. Christopher has written, I can seriously recommend her books. All of her books. Start with SINFUL SEDUCTION and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
It's the story of a woman who shows up on her dead ex-fiancé's brother's doorstep to sign over the property she was left in his will. Brother is guilt-ridden because he was not killed in battle along with his brother and is harboring serious feelings for his ex-fiancé. His anger and guilt has made him and his teenage son miserable and her showing up doesn't help. And, it goes on and on. The book was fairly decent, but a bit dramatic with things thrown and a lot of growling going on, but the bigger problem I had, without revealing any secrets, is the way that things miraculously tied up neatly at the end. It just seemed that the over-the-top drama was resolved too easily and that made it a bit unbelievable. However, all in all, it was a good book.
The story started off okay. Skylar and Alessandro met at her engagement party to his brother, Tony. The chemistry between them was strong and undeniable. When Ssandro returned from Afghanistan, injured and dealing with the death of his brother, Skylar turns his world upside down. Will the the memory of Tony keep them apart forever or will it bring them together.
The chemistry between Skylar and Ssandro was undeniable. The story line was good. I thought that it was slightly wordy and over explanatory.
I chose this book because I was looking for something different to read. I came across the title a few times and thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did. The book held my attention from the first to the last page! I liked it so much that I had to read next book in the series, and you did not disappoint!!! You are now another one of my favorite authors. You did an awesome, and excellent job writing these characters and the storyline was excellent. Great job.
This story had a very promising start but unfortunately my interest waned by the time I was halfway through. I think it was because I didn't really care for the male lead and found the female lead character was strangely unbalanced. By that, I mean she is a beautiful, educated, strong lady with a great career but is compromising herself for the love of a man who is really hard work. I guess, the book was just not for me.
First time read by this author. So because I wasn't familiar with her writing the beginning was a little all over the place but then I was able to have a clearer understanding of where she was going with the story. I am a true for hard romantic so if course I fell in love with Sandros and Sky. My jaw dropped when who they thought was a stranger turned out to be the last person they thought they would see. No spoilers here.
This is the first book I have read by this author, but it won't be my last. The Davies family is so well drawn that I felt like I had just made new best friends. Things happen and people misinterpret what they think they saw and feelings are close to the surface. It's great watching the fire work go off. But it is also wonderfully reassuring watching things work out. DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE DAVIES.
I loved the multi layered stories. Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen whoosh the script is flipped. I like the dark side turning to light. I like the girl fighting for what she wants and I like the guy being the one trying to get it right, falling and rising triumphantly Great story and now I’m a hooked fan😉
WOW! Author Ann Christopher is quite the story teller! She was new to me, but I’ll be reading more from her! I chose this book due to the intriguing blurb. I really liked Skylar! She was head strong and witty! I wasn’t prepared for the anguish that would rapidly unfold, but I sure enjoyed the overall story.
The author writes well and the story flows quickly. Only a handful of grammatical errors Mar the narrative. The hero is flawed in a realistic manner, and the heroine is a little too perfect, including the super-fast healing abilities. But the book makes a nice change from the usual Navy SEAL romances, even though the hero's a billionaire.
Skylar was in love. So was Sandro. It wasn't until Tony was killed in the war that the truth would come out. The storm, the relationship dynamics between the son, the friend, and Similar were on tilt. The love won in the end. Finally a wholesome romance with a twist.
I enjoyed this one.. Even though I forgot that she had an injury a serious one too; I felt like that part was swept under the rug. Would have lived to see the tensions flew some more while she healed. However it was a beautiful story and storyline. I really did enjoy it
This book had a great plot. That's pretty much all i can say. Skylar was all over the place. Going between needy, whiney then strong. I can understand Sandro. He lost his twin in the same convoy he was in. He is hurting, he is lost, he is trying to Honor his brother's memory. Things work out but the neediness got to me
I loved every minute. It was too short, I need more. The reunion wasn't overdone there-- wasn't a protracted will she/won't she love triangle that makes good drama but bad relationships and people. Tony wasn't magically healed by being home, and his and Talias story already has me hooked.
I think the characters in this could have benefited from a little depth. They told just enough information about them to keep you reading. I think the only thing that made me finish was to see how everything played out. Wasnt expecting the plot twist which was almost entirely unbelievable, but then again most of it was dramatic. I cannot get started on the writing.
It’s difficult to tell yourself that you can’t have what you have desired for a long time and then it walks in the door and you fight yourself with everything to not want is in front of you. Life can be a cruel bitch and throw curveballs at you.
Skylar is in love with one of the Davies twins, Allessandro. She was once engaged to his brother Tony. She did not love him like she should. See what happens with the twists and turns in this book. Great book. The only thing is if there is more to know... Book 2, lol
This is an awesome story, that includes all the things that tell a true story of the intricacies of life. Ravages of war, the terror of getting back to a normal life and most of all, how love can help overcome everything. I must say I loved reading this great story.
Delightful and sweet. Interesting love story. Bringing to the fore that life can be complicated or not. Heading for the next book in the series. Life can be wonderful despite the seeming messes.
It was an okay book. I struggled with the deep brooding and the return of the not dead brother who just in an hours time forgave both is ex fiancé and his twin for hooking up. I did like the little menagerie of animals that were being acquired.
Who is Talia to Tony? Sandro finally got himself together. I want to know how he's going to patch up his relationship with his son, Nikolas. How he is going to help Tony? I am so dying to know Tony story.
Very interesting book. I'm a sucker for a great love story. She was just what he needed to help him along the way. Sandra was going thru a lot of struggles. No want to give anything away. It was an awesome book to read.
