Bartholomew's life is perfect. He's got a job he loves, he's in a committed relationship with his loving boyfriend who appreciates his neurotic tendencies, social anxiety, and general awkwardness. It's not 'white-picket-fence-and-Golden-Retriever'-perfect, but their nice little apartment in the city and the cat they rescued from the shelter come pretty close. The domestic bliss gets disturbed when his boyfriend Kyle brings a very hot friend from high school into their sanctuary, making both of them wonder if perhaps 'perfect' is as relative as good sex.
This book is a sticky and delicious MMM romance that is hot and a little dirty with a surprise for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Update to EBook Review after listening to Audiobook.
Audio – I really liked this book when I read it previously so when I saw the audio came out for it I just auto-purchased without listening to the sample or looking at who the narrator was. So that being said… I’m not quite sure what I was expecting, but it was definitely not an English accent. LOL. I do have to admit though, Piers Ryman was a great pick for the narration of this book. His voice was perfect for all three of the characters in this one. I was really impressed how he made them all different, yet still made them fit each of their characters flawlessly. I especially liked his take on Mew’s voice, matching up with his sweet and awkwardly quirky personality. I really had fun and enjoyed listening to this book, and would 100% recommend this one to others.
~ First off. I’m never going to be able to look at donuts again without thinking Dirty thoughts and Laughing. Lol. ~Second. I’m not totally sure I would really consider this an mmm book. It’s more like Mew (Bartholomew) and Kyle are in a loving relationship and they end up having some Freaky Fun times with Kyles long lost friend Adam. ~Third. This book was Hot and Dirty in a really sexy fun way.
I absolutely Adored Mew from the very beginning. He was so damn cute and likeable with all his Quirkiness, and Awkward anxiety about everything. You literally just have to love him. Kyle I had my doubts about. At times I kind of had the feeling like he had some ulterior motives, almost like he was setting Mew up to be hurt emotionally during parts of the books, like he could tell Mew was uncomfortable and had reservations about what was happening, but pushed him to do it anyways. But I do think that he was trying to get Mew out of his shell a little more and that he did ultimately have Mew’s best interests and feelings in mind. And then there’s Adam. I couldn’t really determine if he actually knew what Kyles kinky plans were ahead of time or if he was just going with the flow. But it did seem he was concerned for Mews feelings a couple times and he was aware that Mew felt uncomfortable and tried to re-assure him, so that made the whole situation feel better overall. I’m glad it all seemed to work out, because if Mew got hurt I would have been really upset. Lol. The ending was a little abrupt, I wish there was a little more added to the story for these three, especially if they did actually end up all together. I wouldn’t have minded the book being longer and getting to read more about these guys.
OOH, MY GOODNESS! I don’t think I’ve had that much fun with a book in a while. Laugh out loud worthy at times and then hot the rest (with a hint of awkward thrown in.)
Mew, oh how I love his character. He reminds me so much of me, because I am as bad with social situations, but that's what makes his character so real. He reminds the reader that not all characters are “Movie star level of hotness and perfection” like most are. He made this book for me.
Kyle and Adam weren’t what I’d call my favorites. With Kyle seeming like he was indifferent to Mew's feeling’s concerning Adam and Adam’s lack of caring for personal space. That doesn’t mean I hated them, far from it, they were solid characters. Kyle did love Mew that much was obvious, and Adam was far from being the perfect man.
I do wish we had had the chance of seeing Mew out of his home a bit more. Even if it had been in a work setting, but I know that with social anxiety and awkwardness that might not have been in the cards for his type of character.
*** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
Ok, so I am not sure how to feel about this book because I really feel that Kyle was underhanded in pushing Adam towards Mew so he could have both of them. Mew had no confidence whatsoever and I felt that even though he was turned on by some of the situations he was still steamrolled into something he may not have been completely ready for. As far as MMM goes it didn't feel like an equal distribution.
I don't think Mew had an entire conversation without stammering and that was really annoying. I wish there had been an epilogue that showed him growing in confidence. I also would have liked to have seen where the relationship went with the three of them.
Well! I'm with others - I will never think about doughnuts the same way again LOL
OK, first off - I ADORED Mew! He was quirky, awkward, adorable, ADORKABLE, and a great character. His voice to this story made it great, and I literally found myself chuckling aloud a few times through this story. He and Kyle were sweet and sexy together, and I love how Kyle could calm Mew down and reassure him.
When Adam, Kyle's ex comes to stay with them for a while, it makes things awkward. At first, I was concerned about how everything would work out, because I wasn't sure if Kyle would keep Mew's best interests in mind. Once things started happening, however, it was HOT, and they all seemed on board. I guess I wish there had been a bit more of a HEA instead of a kinda-sorta-HFN ending. It's like there should be 5 more chapters to this story or something. Maybe if there had been something from Kyle or Adam's POV, things would have been a bit clearer and definite?
So...Can we expect MORE with this adorable, hot, sexy threesome? I would LOVE it!
Also! One thing I wasn't sure about - the narrator is English and speaks with a British accent for everything, but the words and dialogue makes me think that this takes place in the US? "White trash" makes me think US, and that was said in the story. I LOVED the narrator, especially voicing Mew, but it did throw me when trying to figure out the setting.
I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Well this was a sweet, hot, and short little story about a twosome becoming a threesome. Told from the 'shy guy's' point-of-view it really was a bit of fun.
There were bunches of good things going on here, my only issues were the kind of slow start the story had (stick with it, you'll be glad you did), and I think the author was a bit too fond of
...?
and
...!
I got distracted by it after awhile.
Definitely a story worth reading and an author to watch - and it's on KU right now so there's that too ;)
Mew and Kyle are in a relationship and living together. Kyle is outgoing, and Mew is very reserved and (as he claims) socially awkward. Kyle comes home one day with an old friend who needs a place to stay, and Mew is very uncomfortable with someone he doesn't know entering his space. Adam makes advances on Mew, Mew questions if he is too boring for Kyle, and Kyle thinks Adam could be a good addition to their relationship.
This is a little tough to rate. While I liked the book ok, I did have some moments of frustration. Mew was very clearly uncomfortable, yet his boyfriend seems to ignore all of those signals and almost pushes him into something he isn't really wanting. Yes, the story panned out OK, and yes eventually Mew wanted what was happening, but it bothered me that Kyle was very flip about Mew's feelings. He claimed not to want to push him, but that is exactly what he did. Additionally, Adam was very touchy despite knowing they were in a relationship and without permission. I didn't love that at all.
Another thing I didn't love was the ending. It ended relatively positive, but it didn't have a definite ending. Just as it was getting good and we had the opportunity to really see how a relationship could work between them, or even to see how the three of them would decide to move forward, it ended.
What I did like, though, was that the book was HOT. The donut scene was quite funny, and I don't know if I will think about donuts the same again. Kyle and Mew had great sexual chemistry, and Adam did as well once he got involved. It was very clear that Kyle and Mew loved each other.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book received by LesCourt Author Services
Bartholomew, “Mew”,is an awkward, sweet, and totally in love with Kyle. Happy and content with their relationship and a new cat.
One day Kyle brings home an old friend, Adam, who needs a place to stay. Mew is very uncomfortable having an extra person in their small apartment. When Mew learns they were each other's firsts in high school, he feels very threatened. He’s so afraid Kyle thinks he's too vanilla, unsure that he's good enough in life or in bed for Kyle.
This books is at times laugh out loud funny and uncomfortable with just how socially awkward Mew is. One of my favorite lines from the book is from Mew’s point of view, “Sandwiched between his hot boyfriend and his hot boyfriend’s ex hot boyfriend”. I loved the way Mew approached sex toys, so cute in a totally what do I do with this? way. VERY sexy times had by all. I loved it.
Bartholomew (Mew) is socially awkward. He lives with his boyfriend Kyle. Kyle unexpectedly invites his friend Adam to stay with them when he has nowhere to go. I immediately liked Mew. He's adorable, shy and nervous around new people. I wasn't so sure about Kyle or Adam. I thought Kyle was a little underhanded in the beginning, although he does redeem himself in my eyes... You got the sense that he really meant it when he said I love you to Mew. Mew worries that he is too vanilla, too boring for a great guy like Kyle... He begins to push himself out of his comfort zone. His attempts by himself made my laugh out loud. Once the lines begin to blur, sexy, dirty fun ensues.. I will never look at donuts the same way again... I do wish we had got a little more at the end, maybe an epilogue. A laugh out loud, sexy, fun book.
If you're looking for hot sex and a super steamy threesome, this is a good choice. If you're looking for a romance, this isn't for you.
I liked Mew. He was sweet, awkward, and adorable as he struggled to be less repressed.
Kyle started off on the wrong foot for me. He's an complete jerk in the beginning, dropping a houseguest on his boyfriend without even mentioning that the guy is an ex of his and recently released from prison! He got more considerate and kinder as the story progressed, but I never entirely forgave him.
Adam was a jerk houseguest, though he too got better as the story moved along, less of a presumptuous ass.
The writing was good and the sex was HOT. So worth reading, but I'd have liked it a lot more if Kyle and Adam started off as nicer human beings.
I felt sorry for Mew almost all the time, for being self conscious and all. While Kyle smoothly push something he didn't really wanted. Of course he wanted to be 'not awkward' , but I think, even smooth, Kyle almost push it to him didn't really care about what Mew really wanted? I wonder if Kyle and Adam had a relationship before Adam came into their life. There's some MMM out there written really well, but I didn't find too attracted to this one. Maybe because I felt like Kyle and Adam hid something before? Not my favorite in MMM genre in general, but I liked Mew, he's adorable.
Well I will never look at doughnuts again the same way. Lol. This story was kind of hard for me. It really felt like Kyle brought Adam in from the get go to be his and Mew's third. And I didn't like that. I also didn't like how Adam seemed disrespectful of their relationship. He constantly hit on Mew or kissed him. When Mew even asked him to stop. So yeah I'm not happy about this. For Mew. He really kept saying he didn't want this and felt forced to do so. So yeah. I gave it three because the actual writing was alright but the way the characters are...not so much
I am always a little nervous to start MMM books.. just because I do not want one person left out. After reading this story, I was definitely happy with the outcome. The story was realistic. It showed the buildup of the relationship and it showed the apprehension of Mew.
Basically, Mew is THE BEST. I quickly loved his character. He was sweet, awkward and funny. I LOVE a blusher and Mew basically blushes constantly. Before the first chapter ended he had me laughing multiple times. I really laughed throughout the entire book. Mew was incredibly endearing. I liked that it was his POV the entire time. Kyle and Adam were much more open and honest in their reactions and actions so it was important to have Mew's POV. He was too painfully shy to really say what he wanted all the time.
Speaking of Mew being painfully shy... the second hand embarrassment I got from his embarrassment was REAL. I am that person though.. I loved it and cringed at the same time. Mew was always so vulnerable and could barely say words like sex and bj so you can imagine the awkwardness that would ensue in a MMM story. It was amazing though.
I liked the way this story ending and I really hope Morgan gives us some kind of steamy short with these boys for a holiday novella or something... wink wink..
Seriously, one of the hottest books I've read this year. And I will NEVER look at doughnuts the same way. I'm still curious...well, never mind. I enjoyed this book so much. It had a fun, uncomplicated plot, extremely hot MCs, a rousing game of Never Have I Ever, and doughnuts. What's not to love?
So I think this title is perfected for this book. I fell in love with Mew and all his socially awkward goodness. Then we have Kyle and Adam. Now at first I didn't like how Kyle seems like he was being untruthful to Mew. Then Adam at first I didnt like how he would keep on doing things that he knows that Mew didn't like. However I think by the end they both redeem themselves and I love that they were both able to have Mew more open. Now I do wish there was more to this book just because I feel like they just started. But I can hope that the author would go back to them. ;-) This was a sexy and fun book.
This was a super cute story and I adored Mew. I wanted to love Kyle and sometimes I did but other times the way he handled situations really grated on me. It was defiantly HOT and over all I really enjoyed listening
This review is going to be somewhat rant-y. I don't usually rant in reviews - actually, I don't think I've done it before - but there's one thing that's really, really bugging me. One character, more precisely: Kyle, at the beginning of the book.
Mew has social anxiety and hates surprises, but one night Kyle comes home and is like "Hey, babe! Surprise! Here's a big, scary guy who is a stranger to you and I'm going to act very shifty when you question me about him. Oh, and he's staying for dinner. And by dinner, I mean I invited him to live with us for a while, in our apartment, without asking you first. It's totally cool, right? Oh, and Adam and I used to fool around in high school. He was my first."
Okay, he did not use those EXACT words, but basically that's what happened. I get that Kyle and Adam are friends and Adam has nowhere to go, but pulling that on Mew is so unfair and quite frankly made me dislike Kyle right away. And a lot.
Then Kyle goes "If you don't like Adam, he doesn't have to stay here"... But he'd already told Adam he could stay with them. He's putting Mew on the spot and if Mew didn't agree to let Adam stay, Kyle would have to say "Yeah, I promised you to stay, but Mew doesn't like you, so bye," which is pretty cruel/messed up towards Adam, and would make Mew seem like a bad guy, even though under the circumstances, he has every right to say no to Adam being there.
As someone with social anxiety that gets pretty bad sometimes, I know I'd feel trapped if my boyfriend pulled something like this off.
Kyle's way of making amends?
With some naughty action in bed. It's good that he's trying to make amends, but naughty time shouldn't make up for something so big. He apologizes later, but even that is only a couple of lines, said as if he forgot to do the laundry. Mind you, that last one might be on the narrator and the way he read the lines.
Still. There are parts where Adam - a complete stranger, is taking Mew's feelings into consideration more than Mew's boyfriend, who keeps telling Mew he loves him.
This really rubbed me the wrong way.
Kyle got better as the story went on - he was much more considerate of Mew, but I still can't get over everything I've talked about until now.
That was it for the rant.
As for the rest of the story, and the other three (I'm counting the cat too) characters...
My favorite was Bartholomew, a.k.a. Mew. I don't know if it was due to the story being told from his POV, because I can relate to his awkwardness, or because of both, but I really seemed to connect with him. Maybe that's why I reacted so strongly to how Kyle mistreated him in the first couple of chapters.
Then we have Adam. He seems like a chill guy, but I didn't see that much of a personality from him. My opinion: he's okay.
Then we have Boots - a typical cat, and therefore, he won me over.
Story-wise, I enjoyed the book. The plot is simple and the book is a quick read with short chapters, that I think I might've enjoyed even more if I was actually reading, and not listening to it. The narrator speaks too fast at the beginning (slows down later on), and his version of Mew isn't good. The character is prone to stammering, but the way he is read just makes him feel awkward and slow. Still, the book gave me a few chuckles, and they were mostly Mew-related.
I'd recommend Not So Vanilla to people who want a quick read with some guy on guy (on guy) action. Since the chapters are so short, I think the audiobook will be suitable for people with a brief commute to work.
My overall rating: 3.5/5 Book rating: 4/5 Narration: 3/5
Esattamente come me.
Bartholomew, or Mew as his boyfriend Kyle calls him, thinks that his life is pretty good. He knows he tends to be awkward in social situations and is a bit sexually repressed, but Kyle loves him and that is all that he needs. Out of the blue, Kyle brings home a stranger, an old friend from high school. Adam is hot and seems to find Mew adorable. The story is told from Mew's point of view, so we don't really get a lot of insight into Kyle and Adam's views of events.
I had a hard time rating this book. While I typically like M/M/M books, I had a hard time with some parts of this story. Enough questions rolled around in my head as the story moved forward that suspending my disbelief became difficult. First off, neither Kyle nor Adam fess up the truth when Mew asks if Adam is one of Kyle's coworkers that first day. This action especially hit home when Kyle reminds Mew later that they are supposed to talk about their feelings and problems, yet he introduces Adam into their home on a lie. I also don't see someone like Mew just accepting that Adam is moving in with them indefinitely, especially after Adam's past was revealed. It just didn't feel right. This one just had too many issues that didn't get addressed for me.
Now, on to the things I liked. I liked Mew and his stammering cuteness. You can feel his embarrassment and how hard he's trying in all situations. I liked that the evolving situation made Mew realize that he should and could make more friends. I liked Adam, he seemed sweet most of the time. Kyle clearly loves Mew, but I never got a really good feel for him and wondered if he had hidden motives throughout the story. Kyle and Mew have great chemistry and adding in Adam just added to the heat index.
If you're looking for a short read with an awkward, but cute MC and lots of sex, this book is for you.

Not so Vanilla was a steamy, fun novella featuring a good range of characters. Though I tend to lean toward more angsty or character driven romances, I’m always on the lookout of something quick and different to read in between, so I was excited when this blurb caught my eye. I hadn’t read this author before, but I liked their style and thought it fit with the fun and flirty tones of the book. The pacing was brisk without feeling forced or as though the author glossed over details and I would certainly be open to reading more of their work in the future.
Although Not So Vanilla is very steamy, leaning a bit more toward erotica than a standard romance, it was nice to see a solid story arc complete with characters and a relationship that offered some depth. The romantic in me did wish for a bit more insight into Bartholomew and Kyle’s relationship. I liked how committed they were to one another, and would have loved more time to get to know them separately and as a couple before Adam entered the mix. Though the reader doesn’t get to know a ton about Adam on a personal level, he was a nice addition to the personality mix- I especially liked how he approached Bartholomew’s shy, reserved nature. In a similar vein, and even more than I wanted to understand Kyle and Bartholomew’s relationship, I really wanted to see the three men together after their racy night. Overall, Not So Vanilla was a fun story with plenty of sexy scenes that I think readers will enjoy even if the romantic in me was left a little wanting.

This was a good read. I will admit, at first I kind of wondered how things would turn out for here three men because in all honesty, Mew is not the most adapt person. He is very interview and he has very little confidence in himself. He is awkward around others. The only one he really feels even somewhat comfortable around is his boyfriend Kyle. But even with Kyle he has not found his voice. He cannot express how he truly feels and what he wants even to himself much less anyone else.
So when Adam shows me up with Kyle to stay in Kyle and Mew’s home, Mew is not comfortable in the least. Then when the secret that Kyle and Adam was each other’s first comes to light it makes Mew question everything.
When Mew realizes that he might just be attracted to Adam as well as Kyle, it does something to Mew. He basically shuts down in some ways because he is scared that he will lose the one person he has let closer then anyone else.
Kyle really does have his own agenda. That too me is almost visible from the start but I am not sure that Mew even realizes it until it is too late.
Can here three men come to some kind of understanding before someone gets hurt? Or will one or all of them get their hearts broken?
This was a good book. I enjoyed this journey that these three men had to explore. I honestly could not believe that Mew had no idea what Kyle wanted for them and that Kyle honestly wanted what was best for all of them. He just needed Mew and Adam to figure it out on their own. I look forward to more books by Morgan Noel in the future.
Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review
I had such a great time reading this book. It was so fun. It’s been a while since a book had me laughing so much and then, all that steam… It was amazing.
I loved the characters, all of them. I was particularly fond on Mew, maybe because we got to see his point of view. He did had some features that generally would keep me away from loving a character, I tend to avoid characters that are much alike me, and he was too much alike me to feel comfortable, but I still loved him so much. He was so awkward and so self-conscious that is easy to see that most readers will fall in love with him or maybe relate to him, also he is the one who bring all the fun to the story. Kyle was the perfect boyfriend, so caring and understanding, they were such a great fit. And Adam, he was fantastic. I loved his cocky attitude, there were times when I wanted to hate him but no, he is as likable as the other two. Great characters all of them.
I loved Kyle and Mew’s relationship. It seem so solid and the interactions between them were so lovely. The little displays of affection were the sweetest part of the book. But there were also some really hot scenes that contrast perfectly with the humorous tone of it. I wasn’t really expecting that level of steam and it was fantastic.
I have a few issues with the ending, but it might be something more personal so I don’t think other readers would find the same problem I had. Overall it was such an entertaining book. I wouldn’t hesitate on recommend it to any reader who likes to read M/M books.
