Aimed at motivating teachers to create a welcoming and challenging environment for their students, this professional book is told through a series of anecdotes and stories. It will remind teachers of the intrinsic rewards of teaching (to teach children to love learning) and the powerful role they play as models in this endeavor.
I read this book for a summer PD book club. While I didn't gain any new insights, it was great to be reminded why I do what I do. Despite the fact that the higher level administration and "experts" undermine what true "teaching" is all about, I get to go into the classroom and experience the love and joy of working with children daily. That alone was a revelation that made me grateful I read this book.
The book itself is a quick read, seven short chapters. I bought my own copy to I could highlight and make notes for the reflection questions at the end of each chapter.
