FINDING REDEMPTION, HOPE, AND NEW beginnings

I enjoyed this story that is part of a new series, A Texas Lawkeeper Romance, by a group of talented authors. Each story in the series will read as a stand-alone and can be read in any order. The stories will all feature law enforcement heroes and the women who love them. The stories are sweet, clean based stories where the lawman finds his woman. Each will read as a stand-alone book.

Life isn’t always black and white, and this story is a great example of that truth. Siblings, Elias and Emily Jessup, are on their own after their parents kicked Elias out, Emily left with him. But they were struggling, starving to death, no clothes, no job, and no prospects. What starts out as just a means to survive, becomes one more mark and another theft. Some of their targets weren’t good people, many of the men were braggarts, but stealing is stealing.

Elias would play the town, listening in saloons, playing poker, and find their next big mark and then Emily would lure him in, and Elias would be ready to help himself to the money, and they would ride away on their horses. Even though Emily hated doing it, she played along. But when she warns Elias they need to go, that there was a bounty hunter there, he won’t listen, and it will be their downfall.

The story picks up from Lawfully Yours and is a continuation. Where it mostly focused on Bounty hunter, Cade Singleton, and Emily Jessup, this addition is Bounty hunter Ellen Holladay and Elias Jessup. After Cade took Emily, prisoner, Elias will be trying to track them and help her escape. Hearing a woman, he thinks it might be Emily, but instead, he will meet the barrel of the gun belonging to Holladay. He will spin his tale about his sister and enlist her help in the rescue.

Ellen Holladay was the daughter of a salon worker, but when men started to notice her, she escaped and was attempting to make it on her own, that is until Cade Singleton caught her stealing a rabbit from him. He took her under his care and fed her, teaching her his trade, as had been done for him in the past.

When they arrive at the courthouse, Judge Ryan, will be hearing Emily’s case and sentence her to marriage to Cade Singleton. When Elias tries to come to her defense, the judge decides to issue the same decree to Ellen and Elias, along with making Elias a sworn in bounty hunter and give them a case.

The story has a sweet and romantic side as Elias and Ellie learn more about each other and the things he does for her to put her at ease. He may have committed crimes, stolen from marks, but when it comes down to human decency, he proves himself with Ellie. When they face life and death, they both learn what each other is made of.

“Who would have thought that his wife would brandish a gun and steal his heart? Regret is an awful thing, and I want there to be no regrets for you. Nothing but love, happiness, and peace for us.”

The story ends on a very happy note, and it is a great example that humans make mistakes and with second chances they can make amends and find happiness. Sometimes it is just meeting the right person to help push someone in the right direction.

After reading “Lawfully Yours” I wanted to see Elias Jessup with his own story. Well, here it is and even better than I expected. The story contains two incidents from “Lawfully Yours,” but here you see the interactions between Elias and Ellen “Ellie” Holladay, a bounty hunter. Before Ellie learns who Elias really is, there is an attraction between them, and even though Ellie hates being forced to marry Elias, their marriage eventually brings them love and a very happy ending. These two couples—Elias/Ellie and Cade/Emily—are an inspiration with their personalities, courage, strength, and love for each other. I especially like the last chapter, which takes place six years after the beginning of the story. If you like clean, western romances with wonderful characters, this book is for you. I received an advance reader copy of this book, which I have voluntarily reviewed and given my honest opinion.

It was ok.
We met Elias in "Lawfully Yours" but this is his side of the story. After Emily has been taken by the bounty hunter, Elias is on their trail, to save her. Her comes across Ellen, a female bounty hunter. Somehow, they seem to take to each other right away and she agrees to help him. He's a charmer and not honest with her. They are falling in love fast, until she finds out the truth. We re-read the court case from Lawfully Yours and then see what happens in Elias' case.
So much of this book was exact repeat from the previous book that I'd just finished, so while I was happy the stories matched, I did gloss over those parts out of boredom.
The first book was too over the top, and I found this was quite similar. I did prefer this book though. It was a clean, sweet romance. Just not a favourite.

What fun this story was! I loved the humor in it and the tenderness too! It's a follow up story but you don't have to read the previous story to know what's happening because the author touches on it in the beginning. Elias and Ellie and such a great couple. It didn't start out that way because they are on different sides of the law but there are extenuating circumstances and that makes it all the more fun! I loved their conversations and the way they got to know each other out on the trail! This author really know how to write a fun story that still brings the reader in and keeps them turning the pages to see how it will turn out! I'll definitely be reading more from her!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book but a review was not required. The opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this story that told the story of how Eli ended up married to Ellie a lady bounty hunter. It also blends the two stories together from his sisters story Lawfully Held. I loved the banter between Eli and Ellie before the Judge forced them to marry. It was great to see into the future of both brother and sister and their families.

After Emily’s story it’s now time for Elias. Emily was captured by a bounty hunter but Elias has to find her. Then he finds Ellen, another bounty hunter and asks help to find his kidnapped sister. Ellen isn’t happy when she discovered the real story. Then a judge expects her to marry Elias. What good can come from that?
I really enjoyed this story about redemption and learning to trust again.

Eli and Ellie

Eli and his sister are separated and he reaches out to a female bounty hunter to help when he spies her. Both are very cantankerous and Ellie doesn't trust him. I loved this book! - Babs

So unique to have read part of this story in the book about Emily Jessup, Lawfully Yours! I'm so glad there was much more to the delightful story! Also a book about redemption and the love of a good woman! Choices have consequences, but while their lives held similarities, they chose different paths, until they both get a second chance at life and family!

This is a great read. This time we follow Elias Jessup as he teams up with a beautiful woman, Ellen Holiday, to find his sister, Emily. He later discovers the woman is a bounty hunter who is determined to bring him to justice. This book is a clean, sweet and wholesome book. I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.
