Under suspicion following his girlfriend’s murder, a man turns private investigator to find her real killer
It was a blossoming romance, cut short by a cruel murder. Perry Webster, a university lecturer at York University, is distraught at his young love’s death. But when the police start to suspect he was the culprit, his world is turned upside down.
Working in the local bar, his girlfriend was well-known and liked by many. Who could have killed her? Webster begins questioning the pub locals, to no avail. Yet his actions are carefully followed by the police, and several times he is brought in for questioning.
Just when the trail is going cold, Webster stumbles on a clue. This takes him down a dangerous path, confronting important people in political circles and dangerous criminals in the underworld. It will take all of Webster’s wit and learning to see through the lies that surround his girlfriend’s death.
But, like Webster, the reader is in for a surprise when the true identity of the killer is revealed. Having kicked a hornet’s nest the perpetrator maybe much closer to home than he first thought. Can he prove his case and clear his name?
BLONDE is the first in a series of murder mysteries with Perry Webster as private investigator.
An unpredictable and intelligent murder mystery. Great new author, a classic in the making. A philosophy professor turned private investigator manages heartbreak, blackmail and hitmen as he tries to solve the murder of his girlfriend. Brilliantly written, evocative and stylish, with compelling characters.
I have a question about this book. Perry talks about Anna’s diary and said he couldn’t give it to the police because there was something in it about him. What was it?
I really enjoyed this well-written and engrossing mystery. The idea of a philosophy lecturer making his own amateur detective investigations was enjoyably done. I warmed to the main character and his friends, and felt drawn into the world the author has created in a slightly fictionalised York. A really good start to the series.
Perry Webster was a person to seek his understanding how he surprised his lost of his lover. His friends and family were close to him to support him as he grieved for her and investigated who had taken him from her. The story has many details to cover, and the story is extremely engaging. I truly enjoyed this book.
Suspenseful and gripping, mysterious and somewhat sad in places. A well told tale of murder and intrigue, suspicious characters and finding oneself. Well worth a place in your library.
