My name is Teagan Langford and I grew up in the system. Just another child neglect case, crossing a cluttered desk. For a small window of time, I thought fate had taken mercy on me when the future District Attorney swept me off my feet. From the outside looking in, we have the perfect life. The reality however, is my personal nightmare.
One violent night, fate forces me to make a choice and I must run to survive. With no money, food or place to live, I search for work where cash is king, and questions won’t be asked.
Once again, fate drops me in the hands of a handsome bartender who wants to help me. But everyone has secrets. Ones that have the potential to destroy everything.
A fugitive on the run, one determined stalker, an undercover agent and a high-profile family with a lot to lose. Suddenly, I find myself fighting for life, love and freedom.
Paige typically spends her days surviving on copious amounts of coffee and fantasizing about the day she becomes a full-time writer. Because even Batman needs a day job, her morning hours are spent buying drugs (the legal kind), as a pharmacy purchasing coordinator for a growing health system. When she isn’t buying drugs, she’s dreaming up hot alphas and the strong women that test them.
Paige lives in eastern Oklahoma with her husband, daughter and two furry body pillows known as “dogs”.
Fun Fact: She is the pickiest eater you will ever meet and a firm believer that the real food groups are coffee, wine, and Mexican food.
~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~ Personally one of my favorite parts of being an ARC reviewer is getting to try new author's, and Paige Hill is just one of those author's. This appears to be her debut book and as far as debuts go, it was pretty damn good. Was it perfect? well, no. There were a few things plot-wise that was a bit far-fetched and some loose ends, but all in all, it was a well-written book. The pace was fairly quick. It was told in a dual POV format. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet (and maybe a touch predictable) ending.
~HERO~ DECLAN...Declan was pretty much a perfect hero. He was sweet. He was alpha. He was sexy. He wasn't a manwhore. He has a rough past that I think could have used a bit more fleshing out, and he is all in with Teagan right from the start.
~HEROINE~ TEAGAN...Teagan was a bit of a mixed bag. Not in the sense that I ever disliked her, but I found her behavior a bit bi-polar at times. I found her way too trusting of strangers after everything she went through. She pretty much spilled her story to anyone and everyone. Not to mention, she tells her friend something about Declan that wasn't supposed to be common knowledge. That said, I really did like her. She was sweet. She was kindhearted. She was strong (most of the time)., and she was all about Declan.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS There weren't a ton of secondary characters in this one. I loved Martha <--- but she was one of the far-fetched problems I had with this book. I also loved Manny <-- but he was one of those loose ends I mentioned earlier. Perhaps his story will be explored more in upcoming books? I loved Briggs (Declan's partner). I loved Celeste (a friend that Teagan makes) <--- I have a feeling she and Briggs are going to be the next couple featured in this series.
~HEAT LEVEL~ Low. There are only a couple semi-erotic sex scenes in this one. I wasn't overly bothered by that, but a little more spice would have been welcome.
~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~ Low. I didn't find this one particularly angsty. The relationship between the main characters was pretty insta. Maybe a little TOO insta all things considered, but I went with it. Neither were virgins. Declan wasn't a manwhore. Teagan was technically married through the entire book. There was no OW drama. There is OM drama in the form of Teagan's husband, and there is a flashback scene of the first time he was rough during sex with the heroine.
~IN THE END~ I enjoyed it. There were a few issues here and there, but for a debut novel, I was pretty impressed with it. The writing was very good. It was well paced. The plot was engaging, and the characters (both main and secondary) were very likable. I am certainly onboard to see what this author has up her sleeve for the next book. Therefore, yours truly is going to give this one two thumbs up.
Well this made for an interesting read. Before I started this book, I attempted to read three other books, but they just weren’t working for me. As an avid reader not finding anything to read is a nightmare. Whereas I managed to finish this book I have a lot of mixed emotions which I don’t know what to do with.
3.5 “Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum. If you want peace prepare for war.” Stars
The Characters & Chemistry.
Teagan the heroine of the book I felt for her and I liked her yet there is something although she was changing it felt like she went from one extreme to the next. Teagan keeps on saying that she will learn from her mistakes but, she doesn’t. It is one thing after another where She is 29 years old and seems to NOT learn from her mistakes.
Declan the Hero of the book is a tortured soul with a heart of gold although he needs to turn that unnecessary anger down if you ask me. He is an alpha of a Hero and adds a lot to the book IMO. He has a tough past as well and got to say it was somewhat unexpected.
There is chemistry, and this is me I skimmed the sex scenes not because they are badly written I'm just not in the mood for it but the book isn't oversexed.
The Writing, Pace & Plot.
The writing is solid and flows relatively well. There were times where I felt like banging my head against the wall because of some sentences written to convey a certain situation or emotion weren’t timed well and just a tad silly. Here an example.
It takes me a few seconds to stop walking lie a newborn deer.
Or
These men are going to war. And I’m Helen of Troy.
Seriously I was in stiches.
The pace is decent and there is never a boring moment. So, enough action to keep me and my attention span of a gnat happy.
Teagan Langford fell in love with the wrong man a very long time ago. That man doesn't exist anymore but his connections and influence reach far and wide. So, she runs for her life.
Tallahassee is 6 hours away from Miami not far if you are on the run from your abusive husband. Just saying. If it was me I would go all the way to the west coast but with limited funds Miami it is then.
Declan is undercover and while finding information out about the cartel that they want to take down he meets Teagan and he is smitten.
And this is where it for me goes into the territory of it all fit too well together. Spoilers obviously. What are the odds of this happening?
Now how exactly did Mark find her? That needs to be tied up. He only says that he did find her but not how.
The Verdict.
This is a strong and solid start to a debut series by this author. I had a lot of fun with it and it was a good read. Although there were some things that left me somewhat perplex and not intended I’m sure on the author’s part. I can only recommend it. I’m seeing Celeste & Briggs getting a book.
Fight is a story about a woman who life has dealt her blow after blow from a young age, Teagan finally thinks she has her happily ever after but soon finds out her Prince Charming is really Mr. Hyde. She is on the run after years of abuse and stumbles upon Declan - a sexy, alpha, kind bartender. Their chemistry and attraction are intense; both have had hard lives and have secrets they don’t want the other to know.
Declan is HOT very HOT! So caring, protective, sexy all wrapped up in the total ALPHA package! Teagan can be a little to trusting and naïve, sometimes frustrating but I don’t hold it against her because of the life she’s led. She’s experiencing someone who actually cares for her for the first time in her life and it’s a total shock to her system and heart.
Fight is a strong debut by Paige Hill, while it has a few predictable moments and some that are way to coincidental for me, I highly recommend it for fans of the underdogs and brokenhearted finally getting a very much deserved happily ever after. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Hill.
Fight was an amazing read of second chances. Teagan Langford lived a childhood of neglect. Group and foster homes were no better. Rescued by a handsome and powerful man, her life is turning around. She's found love and safety, or so she thinks. This may just be the biggest mistake of her life. On one horrific night, she realizes she'll need to run. With the help of friends, she escapes. Now she has a fake identity, and a determined stalker. She also meets a gorgeous bartender who's bent on helping her no matter what. With secrets of his own, things are about to get interesting.
I admired the hell out of Teagan, aka Taryn, for her strength and ability to overcome her past and all of the abuse she suffered. There were times, especially the last, that she should not have survived. That was her though; a survivor. Though she didn't have family, she had people in her life who cared more than she ever could have imagined. That includes Declan, the sexy bartender.
Declan has secrets of his own. He can't risk blowing his cover, but he can't let anything happen to the girl he knows as Taryn. He knows she has secrets and it's in his nature to get the truth out of her. It's obvious she's been beaten. He needs the whole story from her. I couldn't have loved this man more. Yes he had secrets, but despite them, he couldn't fathom letting anything happen to her, much less turning her in since she was a wanted woman. With a madman hot on her tail, and a dangerous case being worked by Declan, things definitely aren't easy.
It was hard for me to believe that this was a debut novel for this author. An instant 5 star read for me, you can bet I'll be reading more as they come from her. This first book couldn't have been better. If you're looking for a read that will bring you through the full gamut of emotions, this is the one. You won't be disappointed at all.
This book had me gasping on the first page, crying within minutes, and desperately cheering on Teagan to survive. This isn’t an easy and sweet story. My heart was more than broken for all Teagan endured. But this is a story of strength and resilience. Fight is a story of surviving, overcoming, and real fill your heart love. Paige Hill’s beautiful writing brings every character to life. You can feel every emotion pouring from the pages. Teagan had me wanting to wrap her in a hug and never let go. Unbelievably strong she fights her way through what no one should ever have to with a little help from some amazing friends. Declan was immediately drawn to the mysterious and fragile woman who walks into the bar where he’s working. Both hiding some big secrets a sweet love starts to bloom between them as the past catches up. Fight had me both on edge and swooning constantly. Declan and Teagan were incredible together and the suspense woven throughout their story made it even more addictive!
I thought Fight was really good it had my emotions all over the place to were I was drawn to the story even more . The hero was really likable there wasn't anything I didn't like about them , the heroine was a mix for me she was a bit frustrating but likable at times . The writing was really good for it being a debut novel by Paige Hill I know I want to read more by her in the future . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero=9 heroine=8 secondary characters=8 Chemistry=8 steam=3 romance=7 humor=5 darkness level=5 action=2 mystery=2 enjoyment=7 angst=3 story line=8 Story ending=8 character development=9 pacing=8 cover= 10 stars=4 would I recommend this book= yes would I re read this book=yes would I read future books by this author= yes
Fight Paige Hill is book 1 in the Fate Series. This is the story of Declan and Teagan. Teagan was a child of the 'system' which wasn't a very good life, then Mark came into her life and she thought her life was headed for better. But Mark who is now her husband has turned into a controlling abusive husband who is also a DA, so he knows how to work the system so she is always on the wrong side. So when he almost kills her she goes on the run knowing that no one would help her there. While trying to start a new life she meets Declan a bartender who is very hot of course but is also very protective type person. Declan knows pretty quickly that Teagan is running from something and he moves forward to help her, but everyone has secretes....even Declan. This is a dark romance that for me was a page turner... great first book by this author. I hope to read more from her soon.
Paige Hill is some kind of talent! I couldn’t not finish this book once I started. Teagan is slowly beaten down by her abusive husband who happens to be the DA. Seeing how Mark(the abuser)uses the system to hold Teagan to him, she has no choice but to flee. The dynamics of the relationships are mind blowing and are neatly wrapped up—I was shocked how everyone was entertwined but it was done very craftily! Pain? Yes. Heat between Teagan and Declan? Off the charts. Healing? Most definitely. Well done Ms. Hill 👏👏
FANTASTIC! A gripping read that gets under your skin in your heart and shakes you to your core. Engrossing and painstakingly relatable storyline that is hard to grasp as it unfolds all the while incredibly hard to put down! A fantastic must read that I look forward to reading more of the emotionally heartfelt read!
Fight hit the ground running, and never did it hit any sort of lull throughout the story again, so it was super easy to devour it in one sitting without taking a break. The talented Paige Hill penned a story that was powerful & addictive in it's telling, and frankly, I couldn't get enough, so I didn't want it to ever end. Teagan Langford has to run for her life after her DA husband, Mark, almost kills her, and she defends herself because she knows that he's going to spin it to suit him. She lands in a place where a couple of people already want to help her, including a hot bartender named Declan, but he knows that she's keeping secrets. However, so is he, but what happens when her husband comes for her, because she knows that he won't let her live her life in peace. That was so hard to try to generally describe because you know with what I did say, that it was romantic suspense, and I didn't even give all the details that are in the story. The twists are crazy, so my f-bomb dropping was plentiful, as somehow it all merged, to the point that even I didn't see it all coming. I LOVED Teagan & Declan together, and the cast of secondaries were amazing, especially Celeste (please let her story be next), as they added to the story in big ways. The action had my heart pounding, and the big finale almost made my heart jump out of my chest, then tried to get my eyes to leak. I absolutely LOVED this story so much, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ONE & ALL!
“Because every time I see you, it brightens my day. You have this light. You’re so hell bent on hiding it from the world, believing it doesn’t exist. But it’s there and I see it. I see you.”
Oh Declan, oh Declan, oh Declan...why do you have to be so hot?? And sweet!! Lol. Seriously, I think he can pretty much sum up most girls fantasies. He’s a hot bartender with tattoos, so he totally has the bad boy image covered, but then he’s also the sexy undercover agent! What more can a girl ask for? He’s the complete package! I’d say a lovely package indeed!
Fight is a great story about survival that will keep you captivated while falling in love with the characters. I not only like the main characters, but I really like the supporting characters as well and I’m really hoping they get a book of their own! Looking forward to reading what’s next by Paige Hill!

Teagan is one hell of a survivor and fighter. Her story took me down a rollercoaster full of emotions. Once you think you've heard all the awful things that she's went through, more and more just kept coming. She's endured alot of pain that no person should ever go through and very broken inside but she's a fighter.
She's had to run away and start over in a new town, she doesn't know anyone, has little money. She walks in a bar one day and sees him. This gorgeous hot man, Declan. She ends up getting a job there. Little does she know Declan is damaged himself and he has a secret also. His secret could put her in an awful position, but he just may be the one that can save her from her wreckage of life.
Overall I loved this book. I was so consumed by this story. It was beautifully written. It has a little bit of everything from all the feels, romance, to lots of suspense. I highly recommend it.
Fights through a painful past...and ends up firmly ensconced in your heart
Take a chance on a brand new author that will damn sure not stay new! Paige Hill takes grit, fear, shame, as well as mistrust and reshapes them all into a loves story that puts a smile on your tear stained face. Unexpected bouts of 'laugh out loud' witty humor, sarcasm and pure delight make this debut novel a winner. Can't wait for the next installment! Thank you Mrs. Hill for bravely following your dreams, and for allowing the world to enjoy the ride with you.
My first time reading this author and she has delivered a story that is emotional and full of suspense. Teagan has had a hard life and it didn’t get any better when she got married. This plot has triggers in it as it describes domestic abuse. The two main characters are likable, and you can’t help rooting for Teagan as she goes through so much. There is romance and hope to go along with the hardship and abuse, Teagan is a fighter and a survivor. The author has done a wonderful job telling this story and she quickly drew me in and never let me go! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a debut novel from this talented author, and this is certainly an author to watch out for in the future! Teagan has been brought up in the system and thinks that she has finally found love. Having to escape from an abusive situation, she goes on the run and changes her identity. Declan is a bartender, and fate has him drawn to Teagan. This story is action packed, emotional, heartbreaking, with twists, secrets, and is a crazy rollercoaster journey. This author has written an amazing story, and I certainly cannot wait to read the next book in this addictive series.
This book was OMG...out of this world good! I was caught...hook, line and sinker! The characters were wonderful! Teagan Langford has had an exceptionally hard life. She thought marrying the future District Attorney, Mark Langford, would bring her happiness but as it turned out it would lead in the worst despair. He abused Teagan every chance he got until one day she was finally able the upper hand and escape. As fate would have it she met Declan while he was bartending. She could tell he was different than Mark. But all she could think about was that Mark would find her and this time he may kill her. Declan was determined to show her he would not let her fight this battle alone.
This debut novel was a good start to a new series. I found my emotions all over the place and I would get aggervated with Teagan because at times she seemed so gullible and too forth coming. Declan is the hero hottie who is undercover who is all alpha male. This book left me asking myself questions I cant wait to see if book 2 covers.
I struggled with this from the beginning. The synopsis and story line had a lot of promise and I was looking forward to reading; however, once I started, the story line started to be a bit unbelievable to me.
I don't want to go into detail because I believe it would contain too many spoilers. I just wasn't a fan of the book itself.

LOVED every second of this book!! WOW WOW WOW !!! You did a fantastic job and then some!! I cant wait for the next #2 !!! Maybe some more #DeclanAndTeagan :)
This book made me want to ugly cry in several different instances. Sometimes you read an author that their words are so profound that they stay with you, Paige Hill is definitely one of those authors.
Teagan and Declan's story is the opposite of easy, but man oh man do you want to be a part of the ride. There are definitely a couple of things that could be a trigger, but this was a really good read and I recommend you checking it out if that is your cup of tea!
This book was appropriately titled. She had to fight for her life. No choice. I commend her for getting back up and starting over. Some people never do.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It's a breath taking story I like. I love the suspense it takes every time Teagan strive for her freedom out of her abusive husband. I love the way Declan fight for to show his love for the girl he love. Please read the book I highly recommend you will love it awesomely.
I could not put this book down, the story of Teagan and Declan kept me wanting more every page I read. This is the first time that I have ever read a book by Paige Hill and it will not be my last as I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I feel like as though Paige addressed the issues of abuse (emotional & physical) was very realistic and made me feel like a person that was a part of Teagan’s life. She was trapped in a life that she feared she would never be able to leave, she had the opportunity to escape with help from her “adoptive” family. I feel like she could have done a little better in her hiding efforts as it seemed the timeline was rushed. The sparks that were flying between Teagan & Declan only made every girl to want a man like Declan in their life, a man that comes to save the day and be the protector. I am so glad that Teagan and Declan found one another, and I highly recommend this book.
Fight is the story of a women who is abused, but she fights back, she runs, making it to a new town, she fights to find herself again, with the help of others can she overcome years of abuse and fear.. This is a powerful story. Really well written, great character. Strong chemistry.
