I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her standing there, exhausted, emaciated, and selling sex. Nothing like the woman I loved in high school, even if I never told her. When Kadence shows up on my doorstep seeking safety and security, I offer her both.
Little did I know, hiding the fact I'm a lesbian from my former best friend is the least of our worries.
When D. F. Krieger was banned from writing contests at her school, she immediately set it in her head that she would become a professional writer. Since then, she has thrown away her plans of world domination through books, but she still enjoys writing. Her tastes run from classy urban witches to dragons, space pirates to shape shifters. By the time she pens her final book with a hand ravaged by age, she hopes to introduce her readers to many alternate worlds, lines of thinking, and captivating characters.
You can find D. F. on the East Coast, hiding away from the real world with a gleam in her eye and a plot in her head. She resides with her husband, kids, and pets; who all kindly put up with her random bouts of laughter (over things she can't explain) and journal collecting fetish.

Nice read! An unexpectedly good story. Recommended to all!
An interesting story about two friends reunited under less than ideal circumstances, Chelsea sees her high school best friend, Kay, hooking on the street. It gets even more complicated when Kay gets busted and Chelsea gets stuck with Chance. The situation gives both characters a chance to rekindle a lost friendship and maybe even more. Its a pretty good read. At times I did feel like I lost connection with the characters by some of the stuff they did. I also didn't like Chelsea all that much. Can't put my finger on why...I just didn't. Almost wish it wasn't written from her POV only. Overall, it was an okay read with little plot twists here and there. It was free kindleUnlimited so if you're looking for something, well, it's a something. Also, there is no actual intimate scene between the two characters and any sexual acts are pretty tame.
2.75 stars. The main character Chelsea runs into her high school best friend Kadence. Kadence has had a streak of bad luck. She left town to move to Hollywood to become a movie star. Unfortunately, she only ended up as an adult movie star, but even that petered out, & now she's hooking. They reconnect & Chelsea works on helping her straighten out her life. Chelsea is more than a little bit insecure & that ruins her as a MC for me. The story is farfetched, & for being a HEA story, this has no intimacy scenes or story between the characters.
This book was very intriguing to me, I couldn't seem to put it down. Longing for friend just to find her years later prostituting on the streets, with a child. There was a lot of great dialogue throughout this novel. Definitely worth the read. RM
The writer's tone was enjoyable, and the plot certainly did keep me interested. But the main character, Chelsea, kept on acting like a jerk, and it kind of pissed me off. Also, again I read a book where you can get famous and live off the proceeds of writing lesfic, and while it's a nice fantasy, it breaks my suspension of disbelief.
This was a good friends to lovers story with a side note on adorable little boy (Chance) and the quirky mothers (Kay’s and Chelsea’s) who wanted to help their daughter without interfering too much. It was a doable read!
I really enjoyed this book. The dialogue was fun and entertaining. I really like Chelly's mom... In fact, a book about the 2 moms as secret spies would be hilarious!! Looking forward to reading more by this author!
Great story! I love reading friends to lover stories. Chelsea drove me nuts with her shutting down and not giving Kadence a chance to explain things. This was an enjoyable read, and I outdone recommend it to others.
