Mejor de lo esperado. Me aclaró varios puntos; me respondió varias preguntas, y me hizo surgir otras.

Las bases bíblicas principales para una tierra (no destruida sino) renovada en el futuro son expuestas demasiado claro en este libro. La tierra es mucho más que el lugar que Dios tuvo que crear para que personas puedan aceptar a Cristo como su señor y salvador y que así puedan dejarla lo más pronto posible. La tierra (claro, en dimensiones perfectas) es el lugar donde pasaremos la eternidad. Esto fue revolucionador.

La tierra y todo lo que hay en ella es muy importante para Dios, tanto que un día la restaurará a plenitud. Dicha restauración futura es una invitación para que anticipadamente vivamos de acuerdo a ese gran evento futuro. De ahí que hay muchas implicancias para nuestro vivir aquí y ahora. No se trata de dejar la tierra e "ir" al cielo. El cielo "viene" a la tierra. De repente parte fundamental de la misión de la iglesia se convierte en, como un anticipo, traer el cielo a la tierra, en las muchas dimensiones del reino.

Sumamente recomendado, por cierto, aunque me hubiera gustado un enfoque más teocéntrico, especialmente en cuanto a lo que en últimas instancias es nuestra gran esperanza. La tierra es el lugar del encuentro con el creador, pero el lugar no puede ser más importante que Aquel con el cual nos encontraremos (gracias Piper).

También me hubiera gustado que el autor añadiera más carne a las implicancias de todo esto en el aquí y ahora. Las primeras 2 partes estaban compuesto por 5 y 3 capítulos respectivamente. La parte 3 si embargo tenía un solo breve capítulo acerca de las implicancias.

En fin, muy buen libro, especialmente para cerrar un poco más la brecha entre lo "espiritual" y lo "físico", cosa por la cual como cristianos hoy día nos caracterizamos bastante.

A friend loaned my husband and I this book back when it was first published in the ‘90s, recently I re-read it for Ladies Summer Bible Study at church. With a Biblical foundation it explores what life after death will be like. Though there is much we don’t know, the Bible does give some clear clues. First, when a believer that dies, their soul/spirit goes to heaven where God, the angles and other believes are. When Christ comes again there will be a new heaven and a new earth. Believers will be given physical bodies to live on the new earth, there will be work to do but it will be better than the Garden of Eden, there will be no sin as we interact with others, animals and nature. Most of all we will be with our Lord and Savior.

Este es el libro que empezó el cambio de mi cosmovisión. Antes tenía una cosmovisión dualista y este libro, con su estilo muy sencillo y popular, poco a poco fue derrumbando mi manera de pensar.

Fue después que me di cuenta que realmente es una teología bíblica de los nuevos cielos y la nueva tierra. Al final del libro me encantan los tres relatos imaginarios de cómo podría ser la vida en la nueva tierra para nosotros.

I found this book after a Lifegroup discussion where we were talking about living on a restored Earth after Jesus’s second coming. I’ve read Randy Alcorn’s Heaven awhile ago but remembered it being a pretty long book, but this one is nice a short. And I loved it! Lawrence gives lots of biblical reasoning for his views on where we go right now when we die and also what “heaven” will be like when Jesus returns. I especially loved the end where he talks about how our view of heaven and eternity should affect our lives right now. Come, Lord Jesus!

Excellent Exposition on What The Bible Says about the Future

Lawrence examines the various passages that speak about the new earth. He suggests that after the return of Christ the earth will be renewed and that people will live on the earth in resurrected bodies, as opposed to being detached spirits in heaven.
